HP Stadium

thanks so much northern farmer..... noticed you posted that you had never used less than a 1000w, whats the smallest area youve ever used one in? preciate your help.

Smallest grow I ever done was 2x1000W in a stadium that was 7' wide (*edit*), 6' long (iirc) and 7' high.

I ran 2 cycles of tables once. The standard 4'x4' per 1000w (tables were 4x8").

The room is 12 x 10x 7 high...yes the top shelf is 20 inches from roof..Each shelf is 12'' wide...each side sticks out about 3 1/2 feet...

I might have missed it HP...but do you rotate your plants at all? and if so...how important a factor do you consider it to be in attaining 'almost 2lbs a light' average?

Yes I do, once a week.

This is actually crucial.

Some guys I know are going to try and trim away the back branches and not turn. This should be interesting....

Do you really see that much of a difference if you don't rotate? The way you have lights set up, like 3/4's of the plant should always be in the light. I'm sure it helps with the sturdiness of the stems, but crucial? guys like jjefferson who ran stadium systems for a while were not rotating and they did just as well if not better (but he ran a custom system sort of aeroponicXebbflo).

I gotta wait until I can get an ac and a way to cool tube before I do something like that...

It depends on the strain.

With the Hash Plant they would lean so bad otherwise that it was a frigging nightmare.

With Purple kush they don't really lean but they shade themselves so bad with the monster fan leaves that the back of the plant goes yellow. I just went through this. I was 4 days late in my weekly turn and I ended up with damaged vegetation once the light hit the almost yellow brush. Pruning leaves helps.

In the past I've had similar problems including weak fluffy sides that hurt my bag appeal for market.

Trust me, I know. Before anyone tells me that I'm putting too many plants in my room, I know all about the balance between too many and not enough. To get your weight when you go less numbers you have to grow them bigger. That adds time...which takes away profit.

A higher number of smaller plants takes away the extra veg and there you have it...more money at the end of the year.

Really, whats the problem anyways? Half hour per room once a week. Small investment for better looking herb.

This is not someone else's stadium, this is Northern Farmer's stadium. Other guys have their designs and I see them developing in this thread. What needs to be done in mine may not need to be done in some other variation. Like I've said somewhere in this thread....if you are going to do *this* set up, forget what you have learned with other systems. I've watched people with old habits fail. Not plucking leaf, not turning, watering too little or too much, too far from the bulbs, bulbs to few, not moving out enough or bringing in enough air, growing the plants too big or too small. You can all trial and error your way but some of my advice can eliminate some of the tough lessons.

Of course I shall benefit from some of the ideas you all are sharing with me. It goes both ways.

This is obviously catching on big time, way to go go NF, remember guys/gals
He's invented
STOG growing stadium of green

I salute you Northern Farmer and I can't wait to get mine up and growing

Was at Buddies place and he's currently on tables but has few of the extra stragglers sitting on a 'trough'. I just propped up on the pots there to get a pic for ya's. :joint:
It is actually called 'track'. It is used on the top and bottom of metal stud interior wall building. This is the same dimension as a 2x6 and I recently learned that it can be had 8" wide as well (to fit 2gal pots)...this 6" fits a 1gal pot with enough room for runoff to pass by each pot on it's way to the end.
My Buddy has used these for over 15yrs and I even used them for quite some time.
So if a guy wanted to contain runoff from 1gal pots...you could use these in place of those 2x6 lumber shelves there in the stadium that is using a 2x6. They need a little extra support tho and you would need to build a step frame to match the design of the stadium. Not hard.
And they're metal...so no mold worries like there may be with uncoated wood.

They only come in 10ft lengths and are pretty cheap actually. Basic sheetmetal tin snips can be used to cut them down if needed.

You're totally right. I used to have 12 per square foot, I don't think I ever had consistency between runs. I'm not knocking you, in fact I think everyone SHOULD follow your words to the T. I was just wondering, I'd like to do something more top drip, or maybe even ebb flow - limiting rotation.

that's great! home depot around here doesn't carry it, they do however have 1' wide x 10' long aluminum roofiing (its also powder coated white), it's the same shape. but at 25 bucks a panel.... how much are those?

ya, you generally would have to go to a 'real' building supply store to find them.
About $4-7 a piece....there are 2 gauges as well, 30g and 22g I think.

How would you set up the shelves if you were to be growing sativas that tend to stretch, for example, SSH? Assuming that they were also triggered into 12/12 as soon as being rooted(we aren't growing trees here folks....no veg time for sats with this method )

Would you still do the 5 shelves?3 Shelves?2? Etc, etc...

Can you run your lights horizontally NF as I might want to put them in cooltubes if and when I add co2

It's been discussed on the thread. I personally think the lights will yield more vertically in this sytem. It's being tried horizontally by a couple in this thread I think.
