newly designed hydrohut?
I got the 52x52x7' Hydrohut in the mail today and I always thought It just had 2 4" flanges. I sure was happy when I saw that it had already been modified by the company with 4 6" flange holes. also I noticed that it has really strong zippers compared to what I thought I was going to get. Ill charge some batteries and take some pictures in a little bit of what I got if anyone is interested.

Wait a minute... your HydroHut came with 6" flanges? I thought it came with 4"?

Or is that from the 6" double flange kit?

Damn! That's a nice surprise! My HydroHut Mini had two 4" flange holes, and (I think) 2 wire holes.

That is a nice surprise! As long as any unused holes can be properly sealed with velcro, extra holes are always handy if you want to have two exhausts (one for light and one for scrubber).

I just ordered a hydrohut mini from ecogrow but first e-mailed them to see if they still were 4" flanges. He said yes, but that I should use a 6" to 4" reducer to accommodate my fan. While I realize that this WILL cause backflow and restrict the full potential of my fan, do you think that it is a better option than burning a proper 6" hole on my own?

I'll see how it all goes when I get the unit.
Thanks everyone for posting and sharing all your information about these tents.
Hope I can add something to the thread very soon,
JC

yeah, i was pretty happy. I got it from bghydro.
I was a little disappointed with the 'stealthiness' of their shipping though.
Im a legal medical grower.. so I didn't worry too much but it kind of sucks getting a box that says "HYDROHUT - Instant Indoor Greenhouse" in big fat letters on the front of the box.
Its going to take me a couple weeks to finish my hut, but Im going to run it sealed with a portable AC, 1800 ppm co2, recirculating DWC, either a 1000watt digital or 2 lumitek 600's, and a silver star. Im pretty excited.

Exact same thing happened when BGHydro shipped my Mini! But did you ask them to ship it discreetly packaged, or did you assume? My experience with these online shops have shown me that nothing can be assumed, and to specifically ask for it to be packaged discreetly or not ship it at all.

yeah, i didn't ask them. I thought that I saw on their website that they did it stealthy, but after trying to find it again I realize I must have been wrong.
the fed-ex lady that delivered it gave me a little smile when she said "here you go" like she knew what it was for. LOL.
just thought I would pass the info on for people that order there to make sure to ask.

I'm 100% satisfied with 4hydroponics.com (GrowCo) and their service both pre-sale and post-sale. Answered tons of questions with great detail and fully understood the importance of stealth. Wrapped up my HomeBox in brown paper and everything else in plain brown boxes, with his name as the sender. They also did a great job of double-packaging the duct muffler and putting in lots of packing foam to make sure nothing was damaged.

I'd highly recommend them for the HydroHut / HomeBox's. Free shipping, too.

I probably could have gotten BG Hydro to match the free shipping, but I'd have had to pay tax on it (I live in the same state) making it cost more in the end. But more importantly they haven't been too good to me in the past in stealth shipping.

2.Panda cloth - 10' x 100' - $90

FYI the 4.5 mil black/white panda cloth isnt lightproof, as ive found out recently... :( I can clearly see an orange glow from through the material. Maybe if you double them up...

Ill be getting one of those hydro huts when i can afford it (the 4' x 8' one)

Hi all,

Just wanted to post my preliminary review of my hydrohut mini.
It was purchased through www.ecogrow.com, otherwise known as ecoenterprises, at a price of $180 plus shipping. To be honest, I'm not very impressed with the service they provided. The first order I put through was confirmed on my computer (purchased online), but I never received an e-mail confirmation so a few days later I called them to ask what happened. I had to call a few times to finally speak to someone...no one was overly enthusiastic or apologetic to me. I asked them to ship the package to me discreetly, to send it to a friends' house (not the house where the credit card is associated with), and to put a value of the package lower than what it actually is to save me some import taxes at customs (it was crossing the US-Canada border).

To my dismay, none of these things were done. The box was shipped as is with big printed "HYDROHUT" on it, with no attempt to cover it. The box was labeled with my name and address on it (although it was shipped to the other address). They also made no attempt to reduce the content value and put the actual value of it on the box, costing me $40 in taxes.
Sorry to say this but ecogrow won't be getting any more of my business.

Now on to the actual tent.
I just set it up but don't have anything running in it yet as I'm still waiting for my ballast.
The tent took me about 45 minutes to setup, and everything was VERY simple. They gave me directions but I didn't really bother using them as one of the poles was mislabeled and I knew I could figure it out anyways. With that said, the quality of the unit is very good. Steel poles, steel corners, reinforced bottom that allows you to not worry about water spills, the tent is made of high quality heavy canvas and black/white poly on the inside, and the zippers are over-sized teeth plastic. I'd have like to see them made of steel, but I'm sure these will be good as is.

I'm a bit shocked to see more vents than what I anticipated. There is one intake on the bottom side, one exhaust at the top back, one exhaust at the top side (same as the intake side), and one exhaust with no "velcro cover" at the top back. I believe someone else on the board ordered a hydrohut deluxe and found four holes as well.
This is a nice setup as you can have a designated intake-outtake for your light, and a designated outtake for your carbon scrubber or whatever else you have. The holes are all 4" as I expected.

That's all of the review I can give so far, but I'll definitely be back once the thing is up and running.
Hope this has helped a bit,
JC

Great review jcsmooth! I will be getting one myself and wouldn't mind pics of the setup, light, exhaust, fan grow method, etc. as you go through it. I imagine there are others out there considering the hut also.

The description of the vents was great to hear.

Howdy peeps,

Just thought I would share my set up that I have just begun to use. It's a hydro hut deluxe with a 1k hps in the middle, and 400hps one side and 400MH other side for a total of 1800 watts. It's working well... I am pulling out hot air from the two hps with a can fan and the temps are between 65 night and 78 day... I have 15 romulan plants a week into flowering...

Stinky that is a nice set-up bro. I love my deluxe too. I think it is my favorite piece of equipement. I love how it opens from all four sides I wish my HH OG had that feature. I am ghetto and running a 1K MH and 400W MH, it looks kinda crusty, I want 3 600's for my flowering. Your grow looks very clean, I like. Peace_highst

Hey brother didnt know you had a hydrohut too. Yeah I love it. It is very well made IMHO.

Ya know the plants that are out in the greenhouse right now were in the hydrohut. They were doing very well about 4 weeks into flowering. I decided for whatever reason to put them outside in the greenhouse. I even made the questionable decision to plant them directly into the ground. Then the frost came. Now I have plants in the greenhouse that dont want to grow.

Live and learn I guess. I think If I had left them in the pots maybe they would have had a better chance.... :chin:

Anyway thanks for the compliment on the garden. It's hard. I have neck and back problems and it's a chore just to water them. I still grow in soil as I like the organic thing but I do long for an automatic system of sorts...

LOL, thats too funny, bc I did the same thing. We had a week of nice days and I was acting like it was summer and got all stupid and put a few in the ground too. Good thing mine were only vegging and they are under a light. Surprisingly enough they survived. I think its our bad Karma bc you and I were bragging about how nice the weather had been in Cali in the other thread and then a few days later we get some of the coldest days in Cali in like ten years. I little gut check from mother nature.

I hope your back and neck are doing better. I have had two reconstructive surgeries on both sholders w/ 12 metal pins and now I have really bad posture bc of it and I am starting to get bad back and neck issues too. I know how much of a pain it is trying to get by with all this shit. Hope you get by all right. Toke up a little extra. Long Live prop 215. California Republic_peace_highst

Hi all,

I thought I'd come back and give you an update and explain how I set my hydrohut mini up.

My main concern in the set-up was how much weight I was going to have hanging from the ceiling. After seeing a post earlier (it may or may not be in this particular thread) of a tent with a corner support built in, I knew that I had to build something along the same lines.

Milk crates were too big, and nothing else was around that was tall and skinny yet still sturdy. It suddenly dawned on me that the best thing was the very box that the tent came in! Unfortunately it's cardboard, and having paper in a hot/humid environment is bad, so I wrapped the thing in packing tape (yes...that took a lot) and then wrapped it again in black/white poly.
To secure it upright I took very large zip-ties, connecting three together, and wrapped the box around one of the back side support poles.
Bingo bango!

On top of the box sits my heavy carbon scrubber and right on top of that is my inline fan.

Sorry I don't have a camera, but I think I explained everything vividly.

I haven't yet burned the 6" hole, but by the end of tomorrow the tent should be up and running like a factory :yummy:

Grow on,
JC
