Depends on what fits your size and requirements. It's really a toss-up. Price is same on the HB XL/HH Orig, and I've found most places to have the HH Mini cheaper than the HB Orig.

well im doing a 400watt light, so everything but the mini is out.

i dunno for some reason i just feel the hydrohut will be better.

that plastic shit really bothers me. only thing thats really leaning me toward hydrohut, is because texashydro has that insane deal on the hydrohut mini and the 400watt hps/mh project-x light. The light on the website is like 309, but for some reason when u select hydrohut mini, and add the light its only 230. Got any input on that??

My HydroHut Mini came with no velcro, and it's brand new.

I went to home dePOT and bought this heavy duty velcro (f'ing $15 for a 10' roll) and velcro'd strips all around the front zip flap, and the inside flaps of the air-vents.

I didn't HAVE to but wanted it to be nice and secure. I'm extremely pleased with the unit and considering another mini for longer veg times.

So buy it. What's the problem?

Great idea with the velcro! How does air enter the tent though if the intakes are velcroed shut?

just measured up my closet space...its gonna be a tight fit for sure. the walk-in closet is is only 42" wide. My intake will be a vent in the outer wall, pulling air from the main room,so i think this should be ok.
Anyone see a problem with this space?
thanks

i was planning on getting the HydroHut Mini btw

Doesn't have to be hydro... I've seen plenty of people growing in soil.

I'm going to run a 6-bucket recirculating DWC, but may try a E/F table in the future.

The hydrohut mini is the cheapest ive found at www.bghydro.com

Yeah, bookmarked that, thanks! I will be getting one in the next couple of months. bghydro price for the Elf carbon filter that Hydrohut Mini makes as a companion to the mini is only $50. That's low enough that I would skip a do it yourself but does anyone know how effectively built and designed? How they perform?

I am thinking I would like to have my Vortex 172CFM 4" fan exhaust the hut and cool tube by way of their dual flange option, have the fan and carbon scrubber outside of the tent. If I do thqt I would then be able to exhaust the drying cab to the scubber and have a damper on that so it can be closed off when nutin' is drying. The cab will be 4ft H x 3ft D x 1ft W. Any comments on that?

Would the Vortex 6" be the way to go?

Having read some more I am not going to use the HH filter. I am seeing several others in the neighborhood of $80 that use MUCH more charcoal, the HH elf weighs something like 5 lbs.? Also, I am reading that the carbon you get should be virgin, not the coco. Can someone clue me in?

Also, I am seeing tents from htgsupply.com, I saw them on ebay but don't see where they keep them on their website. What do you guys think of those?

For a 3x3 footprint, what size reflector is recommended?

Hydrofarm Daystar AC isn't too shabby, but it's a bit expensive for what you get.

I agree with the HH scrubbers... not enough carbon for my tastes.

It doesn't say how much carbon is inside, but at 10" tall it can't have that much...

You could always make your own (see the DIY Link-O-Rama).

clowntown,

Did you build your own scrubber? How stinky do things get? Do you smell outside of your hut when it is closed up and the fan is running? I mean, like, at all?

Also, are the flaps on the HH lightproof at all and where are they located exactly? Last question, how can you have an exhaust coming off a hood or cooltube and main exhaust? Is the dual flange option like a Y shaped adapter to do this?

Thanks

Nope, I'm going to buy a Can-66 filter. It's got something like 30-40 lbs of carbon in it. :yoinks:

Last time I grew, I used no scrubber whatsoever. I lived in a very dense, urban city where it's so dense that most houses shared common walls. Probably foolish, but I got by without incident. This time I'm going to do it right...

Intake flaps are on the bottom left, right and back. They're about 3/4 of the width of the sides they're on.

I don't understand your last question.

Nice, thank you! This is great, first time is always stressful for anything and doing it right for me will allow me to keep this to myself even when guests are in the home.

I guess I'm confused about how the exhausting will work for the main and tube. For example, I'm not sure how to get fresh inlet air to the tube and have lightproof inlet fresh air for the hut. I am under the impression that the cooltube should have its own fresh air supply so it is not getting the hot air of the hut. I also have to figure out how I am going to be able to dry the harvest and get that exhausted through the scrubber too when needed.

this is how you could do it.

carbon filter --- cool tube --- fan exhausting.

so stinky warm air is pulled through cool tube and exhausted out.

is that what you were asking?

thats how i plan to do it. stanley blower up top mounted upside down, air being pulled in through the carbon filter, through the cool tube, then out the blower exhaust and out into the room.

Would the XL Homebox ( 3´11" x 3’11" x 6’ 7'' ) work with a 6'' vortex(449cfm) and a 600 w air cooled Hydrofarm daystar hps w built in 6'' flange?...Not sure on what size carbon scrubber I should get, what brand, or where to get it online..If someone could give me some advice on the carbon scrubber I would appeciate it..I have never used one before..Would the 600 w be sufficient in the 3´11" x 3’11" x 6’ 7'' area?

Correct me if I am wrong but this is the way I plan on setting up the equipment...Carbon scrubber>vortex>across bulb>out exhaust opening..Basically pulling air through the carbon scrubber passing the stale air across the bulb and out of the box...I just want to make sure everything I have read, I have understood it correctly before I go and fuck anything up..

Thankyou
