How big of a cfm fan would you need to cool a 600w tho? i was looking at the inline fans, didnt realize they were around $200!

i've been planning a diy cab, but just started looking at these. I found a hydrohut 2x4(28inx54inx78in), that noone has mentioned. it will fit better in most areas, and also has 4x4in vents as compared to 2(from what i can tell) on the others.

http://www.hydroasis.com/Merchant2/...de=H&Product_Code=7403009&Category_Code=HyHut

they also sell one called the kindergarden, which has a shelf for an extra $80.

i'm thinking of buying 1 for veg and putting my own shelf in. clones and mothers on bottom under t12s. rooted clones vegging under 400 mh above. then, 1 for flower with 2 400w digi w/ aircooleds.

^^would i be able to exhaust from the veg tent with a 180cfm fan, directly into the flower tent? i would be exhausting the flower room through a scrubber with a 440cfm fan. i would also have a 440cfm on dual 400hps', but no cooling on the 400mh.

well i believe in this thread i was such a huge advocate for making it yourself. doing a DIY tent...well i finally did it. already has the panda film so it was basically "free" if you will, wood cost me $23.23 from HD (2x3's) 2.5" screws cost me $4.70 or so. and i used duct tape instead of double sided tape from walmart. btw if your gonna use duct tape DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT use the Nauesha duct tape...it is pure and UTTER SHIT! please just go to wal mart and buy the one with the duct on it. they have general use, professional, and industrial strenth. these thing actually stick unlike the Nauesha brand from home depot. anyways so all in all i spent like $35 or so. after being so gungho about it, i can now easily say just do yourself a favor and buy the hydrohut...the whole time i was building my tent, i just kept saying "fuck i should of just saved up a little and bought that damn thing" . tryin to get it all set up was a bitch. not to mention no drill bits meant no predrilling...no predrilling ment splitting wood...spliting wood means less structural support. the only way i will every build another one of these is if i build the frame and use plywood to make a 4x4x8 shed or something. workin with panda film (or worse yet, the plastic sheeting from HD or lowes) is just a pain in the ass. plus i STILL got light leaks everywhere. i would have gone with the plywood but walkin into an apartment with 4 sheets or more of plywood just looks bad if you know what i mean. but as for something that is portable and reusable, just get the hydrohut. since i am a man i can admit when im wrong...and i was wrong :( peace. just my opinon.

buddy stick with it . this is by far the best way to set up a grow room in a rented place that needs to come down quick. but use screws & washers to attach the panda film to the wooden frame. use brackets to set up your wooden frame. a good size wood is 35mm x 70mm x ?(3m) pine is cheap.use the duct tape for final sealing ,again if you use duct tape without the screws it won't work.

acually i forgot i spent about 20 bucks on ducting so take that up to about 55 bucks total. anyways i managed to solve most of the light leaks with the tape...a lot of it but hey it works. anyways i know what you mean. and i love to do DIY but i still believe that if im not gonna use plywood to make a cab, then i wish i would of just bought the hydrohut. oh well we'll see how this grow go's

Hey guys, I have been using a c22 with a 400mh and 600watt hps in a daystar a/c hood for about 2 years now. Well today I scrapped it and bought a hydrohut mini. I also ordered that new odorsoc from phat filters. I'm also toying with the idea of getting that growzilla hood so I can run both bulbs together. It should be in by the end of the week. can't wait to put it together

1k in a Mini would indeed be wicked, pete!

Were you running both the 400 and 600 in the c22? :yoinks: Or first the 400, and now upgraded to 600? :chin:

I would start the grow with the 400mh, then switch to the 600hps about 2 weeks into flower. the c22 only has about 33cubic ft of space and the 449cfm vortex kept the cab at about 2-3 degrees above ambient. The hh has almost double that space so the 2 bulbs together shouldnt get over 5-6 degrees above ambient temps which is about 68 in winter and 73 in summer

Hey everyone,

I finally found the time to convert my hydro hut to a 6' flange instead of the 4'.

I took some pics to keep a "picture diary" of my grow, and thought I'd post some on this thread to give some others some ideas.

Just to let everyone know ahead of time, this is VERY simple. I'm not trying to be some big DIY mofo. The only "hard" part of the whole "conversion", was aligning the screws with the hole cut out in the hut, and the two flanges, other than that, it was a breeze :joint:

These are 8 ft ceilings in this house.....the hut is big....real big

I took the washer part that comes with each flange, and just maked the holes with a sharpie around the original 4' opening

next I just drilled some holes where I marked. I tried heating the end of a sharp point that I had in the garage, but it really didn't work. The drill worked effortlesly

here's the washer(spacer) all tightened up. I took a brand new razor vlade, and just cut into the hut material. It cut real smooth, and I just followed the edge of the spacer.....simple

looks clean huh :jump:

finished product here. Notice how I moved the two supporting hut braces (straight ones)from the left side of the hut , to the right side. This helped support the two flanges which really hang from the weight. It didn't really need it, but I figured why not?

almost done!! :woohoo:

I should note that I used the spacers to help me mark the holes, and cut the inside hut material. After that, I took out the spacer, and just used the two flanges. There was no need to use the spacers in this application. If you were using just one flange, you'd need the spacer on the other side.

I keep calling these things "spacers", wtf are they called?

I usually build my own cabs out of nice wood. They are great quality, the one I have now is 8' wide, 4' deep, and 8' tall. Like I said, they come out excellent, but I usually build a new one each time I move. They are so huge and difficult to tear down and reassemle, that I am just tired of it. I am moving in about 3 weeks and will definitely be getting the HydroHut Deluxe. I figure if I can tear it down and put it into a box or two, that's great. Plus I wont have to have anyone come over to help me build the thing. It's got to be easier than this monster I built last year. I will be running 2-1K AC'd HPS lights, cooled with a 6" Vortex. This should work pretty well, it's what I run now in almost the same dimensions.

Hey sirharry(chronic buddy),

Checked out your gallery and saw what looked like the begining stages of the cab you talked about.....man, that looks like some high end wood you use. Have a pic of the finished cab? I'd l0ve to see it.
