GROW TENTS !!!!!!!!!

Everyone's got the right idea on air exchange, smell, and heat.

There's a few ways to do it.

I plan on pulling air through my SunSystems Hood, through the roof of the hut, and into the attic, where it will be pushing through a charcoal filter.

I've done it like this many times(in a closet) and it works beautiful. It also free's up some space in the grow area.

I'd like to try pulling air through the filter in the grow area, but it's just not going to work in my situation.

The only thing that sucks is the hose going through the ceiling into the attic.....the good thing is that it's quiet.

Small carbon filter or large isn't really an issue. As long as your fan doesn't die you will be cleaning the air. You just want to be sure your fan matches up with the carbon filter to have proper air-carbon contact time. On the Can Fan website they have CFM ratings for all their carbon scrubbers.

But I'm running 600w, and the HomeBox (47" x 47") is still a hair too small as it is!

Don't you get better penetration into the canopy with a 600 vs. a 400? Why do you feel it is too small? Heat issue?

Sorry I meant 47" x 47" was a hair too large. I'd like something in the ~50wpsf, but hopefully the fact that it's a digital (and a Lumatek) will make up for that or something! :woohoo:

Hi Joe, Welcome to ICMag!

Glad you've found your way here; we'd love to see your HH setup and modifications!

Yes I remember that thread, it went downhill very quick. :badday:

A little off-topic, but... :off2:

Having lurked there for a little while, I don't go there for much more than getting information specific to AN's products; I feel there isn't much else to learn there.

Many of the regulars there have extremely large egos (and hate) that keeps them from accepting anything "new" and having a fair and open mind to people/ideas not "in the circle". Not sure if you've noticed, but those with the largest egos don't even have that much of a grow compared to some of the humblest folks here. And most of the results that they're getting are really laughable, once you consider what all they've done. Well, IMO anyways.

"It depends."

What type of blower? Are you talking about the Dayton-types? How will it be ducted, and to what? Are you using an air-cooled reflector? What type of environment? Etc, etc, etc.

It's like asking: "Is driving 60mph too fast?" Well, it depends.

its an ecoplus 180cfm blower... along with a charcoal can filter 2600.. no air cooled reflector... will be ducting with 4" ducts to my window....

As long as the air coming into your HH mini is cool that fan/filter combo should do the job fine. Good luck

well i just ordered a homebox xl and i have to say for only 250 bucks delivered, my local hydro shop can get lost with their price. I did check it out at the shop and the model on display was an older model i was told and it did not have the snap click type frame and he actually had tape on the frame in a few places just to hold it together when i saw this i was kinda dissapointed. But then i found out that the homebox on display was a really old model and everything that they sold has been of better quality and sets up faster and never needs tape. But to get it from him it would be 310$ for the homebox or 500 plus tax for the xl. so i went to growco . ill do a grow post when i get it .

Hi Viewsonic,

I'm currently in the market for a homebox original, and checked out "growco".
Did you by any chance go through www.4hydroponics.com ?

I don't see any retailers of the homebox in Canada (for reasonable prices), and with the strength of the Canadian dollar in comparison to the American, importing goods just became a whole lot sexier.

What website did you go through?
Thanks,
JC

Hey guys,
In the middle of building my own DIY grow tent. I plan on posting what I've done when I'm done but right now I am tryign to figure out how to attach my panda plastic as to create a homebox-like envorinment. I will be working with primarily 3/4 and 1/2 in. industrial velcro on a 3/4 in. already built 5X5X6.5 ft.PVC frame sitting in the middle of my 12X12 room

IF anybody has pics or can provide any information as to how they (the grow tent companies) constructed their second floor for spills or any other information it would be greatly appreciated. I am especially still working on the corners and how to get the bottom of the door to be sealed yet easily removable, as I want to be able to access the room from three sides. Mostly though is the second spill proof floor. I can't even engineer what it would look like in my head.

Thanks, for any input you may have, and I'm glad to finally be a part of this entheo-community =).

Hi all,

I placed my order with www.4hydroponics.com today but quickly was informed that they have stopped doing international orders because of some problems.

Thanks cobo for the link, but unfortunately with my light and available space, that model is a bit big for me.

Anyone know who sells homebox's? I'm looking to have them ship it to Canada.
Thanks in advance,
JC

this is such an awsome thread fellaz...i have a couple of questions that i'm hurting to get answerd...in the regular HH not the Mini...what kind of fan CFM strength would u need to cool down a 1,000 watt HPS in an air cooled reflector...second...to maximize the yeild in one of these tents..how many plants would u try to fit in there of a heavy yeilding strain..and are u guys all using CO2 in here?

Hey Cobo,

Just wondering if you know if that bud box comes with steel poles and corners or plastic. Unfortunately that extra-large version is too large for my 400 watt, and even the large may be a bit large as well (Would give me 37 watts per square foot). That's not a bad number at all but I'd like it to be higher...at least my current set-up yields me really dense buds at 75 watts per square foot.

I'm having real difficulties locating a supplier to mail me a homebox to Canada, so maybe I'll have to go with this bud box.

Thanks,
JC

I'll answer my own question :)
They are plastic poles and corners, and that e-bay seller you posted will not ship to me in Canada.

It looks like my only option now is to get a Hydrohut mini (because of my 400 watt light), but the 4" duct will be of no use to me. I will need to convert it to 6", and a page pages back, someone sort of demonstrated how they did it.

I want to make it a clean "incision", and not make the plastic or canvas rip or catch on fire. Heating up a 6 inch duct to push through sounds like a bit of punishment, but if it makes a clean cut then I'll have to do it.
This may be the only time I'd chose to live in the US rather than Canada, haha. I don't think I'll move just yet though.

I love DIY so I'll post a little link and some inspiration for you to consider... I'll be using this approach for my room once it's underway.
free plans and supplies - www.pvcplans.com
another DIY approach - www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=22822 <-- I love this setup!

Hope this helps
