so you guys with the hydro hut minis, how many plants are you growing in it, only 4 or can it fit more?

also what size carbon filter is needed for the hydrohut mini.

texashydroponics.com has them for 175 on sale

I'm using 9 1.5 gallon pots.

Going to go down to 1 gals, cramming more in, and lean towards a SOG style grow next time...

stretchy puppy i have seen those pots and thought about using them many times but i thought 1 gal might be a little small for flowering but it definly looks like u know what ur doing i also cramed 5 aurora indica girls in a rubermaid container with about 10 gals of soil. whats your estimated harvest with the 1 gals in sog

They are 1.5 Gal...

I pulled just over 9 zips dry on 9 lifesaver plants(clones) last run, in the same pots but in a smaller space. I flowered in a C13 and I've now upgraded to a tent.

This run I have more room, the same pots, but the plants are bushier.

I'm expecting from at least 9 to 12.

9oz harvest:

I've yet to have anything become rootbound in these 1.5 gallon'ers and I do let them veg out for awhile in the big pots before flowering.

i dont know if i should keep asking quesnos here but how do u know the correct size pot for your plants?

can you plant your seeds in the 1 gallon and let it veg and flower in the same pot?

but yeah how do u determine wat size pots you should use?

My pots are 15 LTS about 3.2 gallons and i find that i need all that space

bigger pots = more roots = bigger plant correct?

if you use a smaller pot, will it just max out the growth of the plant early on(ie not being as tall or big?)

im just curious trying to learn as much b4 i start.

i do not plan to do any type of scrog or anything, just wanna plant the seeds and let it grow!

You are correct. I thought I would be way rootbound in these pots, hitting just over a zip for each plant, however the roots were nowhere near bound. I was very surprised actually.

This leads me to believe a lot more can be had out of a 1.5 gal than I'm currently pulling from my 400w. A little longer veg and more root development = bigger plant = more bud.

It's up to the amount of space you have and what style of grow you're doing... but a rule of thumb is you want to step up pot sizes as roots develop. Start seeds in a 4", veg out for awhile, and go to 6", or 8" pots, lets the roots fill it up, and finally go to your 1 or 2 gallon. You get the idea...

By doing this you develop a bigger root mass than you would starting a seed in a 2 gallon alone. This translates into more flowers at the end.

Yes! You should keep asking and asking questions until you have a general idea and a vision of what you want, then go for it.

Hi,
I thought I'd jump on this thread as a HydroHut Original owner and
post some pics of a modification I did to mine.
All I needed was 2 of the 6" double flanges and an x-acto knife w/ a
new blade.

can you explain your setup.

like how exactly is that carbon filter hooked up? and how is that cool tubed hooked up.

to me it looks liked cool tube hooks up to carbon filter. but how does the carbon filter get any smelly air if its just hooked from one side to the other without touching any inside air? btw i am a noob, so i mite just not see it.

Thought I'd provide a little more info on the way
I'm planing on setting things up-subject to change as I go along.

I've set the Hut up in front of a boarded-up camoflaged window and
am going to cut a 6" hole in the board and attach a flange to allow me
to draw cold winter air in from outside, through the 6" ducting into the
hut, through the cool-tube, the warmed air will then be pulled out of
the hut and vented into the ambient air using a 6" vortex inline fan.

For odor control the way I set things up for now was to use the 4" vent
that was in the top and attached the 4" one way flange that came with
the hut originally. Using ducting I ran over the top of the hut and
down the other side-this is hooked into the 4" vortex/carbon filter
combo.

I'll try and keep updating with more pics and info as I go along.

With a setup like Fatty's, does anyone else think that 1000watt is do-able in amini ?

Fatty Pneumonia,

Great looking setup.

If you are blowing air into your carbon filter, you would be better of removing the white "pre-filter" material from the outside and cutting and inserting a smaller piece internally. I use semi-rigid solid wire to keep the pre-filter against the inner wall.

Peace

ohhhhh and the noise factor i will be putting it in my master bed room closte wich is next to the living room would one be able to hear the blower in the next room?

that thing would be sweet in my clostet and i like being able to tear it down and store it when not needed was thinking of getting a c-22 but now i am kind of looking at the home boxs and hyrdo huts only thing bugging me at this point is how well made is it a nouter guy just got one and rip it trying to put the farbic on thing he had the hyrdo hut as well

for all you with hydrohuts, is everyone having problems with the zippers?

i dont wanna drop 200 bucks on a tent if its gonna rip after a harvest.

i know the construction of the frame is better then the homebox, but what do you guys think.

any hydrohut mini users feeling that it was a bad purchaes or is everyone happy with it?

marely one i am having a lil problems with my zipper but i beilieve its my own fault i usually zip the tent half way up and bend the flaps in side to help with airflow. where the tent bends in is where my zipper is sticking. but if u are gentle everything will be ok i am more than happy with my purchase and am planning on buying another one in the near future.
