Tents

Tents

early in the project.

This worked great in a 3000 sq ft warehouse! I used multiple tents and even had a tent for mommas, and for drying. Most tents had 4x400 watt air cooled Hydro Farms HPS, running about 1650-1700 ppm CO2. Temps avg around 77F.
with a 1200 cfm Charcoal filtration exhaust.

Grow tents

Hi Cobo,

I use grow tents exclusively for all my crops, mate. I have even helped design them for one of the major companies that supply them to the public. I use the Homebox grow tents as they are the original company to bring that box-tent design to the market several years ago.

I have no experience with the other types, but for my money (not that I pay for them...get 'em in exchange for helping them with their site and advertising strategies) the thicker canvas material such as is found on the Homebox is by far the better way to go. It's thicker, far more substantial, and it just plain looks good!
You can just see the edge of my 1.2 meter Homebox tent in the pic with the computer and the Volcano (and my huuuge vapor bag!) in it, and in the other photo you are looking down the front of my new doublewide (8' long and 4' wide!) Homebox called the "Big Mamma" in my new grow room that is still being setup up with all the stuff I'll need in my new house. Great products and I highly recommend them.

Peace

A word of caution withy any grow tent you decide to use mate...there is no such thing as a light-proof grow tent straight from the factory. You will need to set ip all up as if it is ready to accept plants...and then get inside and have someone close it up tightly. Turn all of the lights on in the room and then stand quietly for a couple of minutes to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness. Then take a very good look around and you'll will see the tiny areas where light can enter and pollute the growing interior.
Once you have sealed all of these tiny manufacturing flaws (they are inevitable) you will indeed have a perfect light/dark growing environment for your babies.

Remember this...it has been stated many times by those who are in a positiion to know that even five minutes worth of unexpected light as weak as moonlight will adversly effect your crop.

I wish you many successes with whatever brand or style of grow tent you decide to try!

All the best!

2 weeks later....

now after the two week point I have had to run the air blower *sucking air from the hut and blowing it out the top of the hut through the chimney hole* for 24/7 (all day). Due to the humidity that accumulates within the hut and/or in the room the hut is in which feels like a rainforest for two days after watering. Also I had to move up the light since I didn't have a glasslens to air cool this hood (next time with an air coolable hood is a must!) Also had to kill 3 plants that had white spots (powdery mildew) all the same strain, the other plants have not shown any infection and I have cleaned the inside of the Hut posthamusely with Tilex mold and mildew remover then used Clorox Bleach wipes to wipe the walls and ceiling... since then this is what we are looking at as of this week....

One month in (give or take a few days)

and closeups of the bagseed meds

Og Kush seed

My review so far is the Hut is amazing, but next run I will do less than 6 plants and get two new pieces of equipment (besides the:eek:scillating fan, and another small walmart less than $10 fan blowing by the bottom intake hole to increase the airflow in, inline fan, and co2 regulator and tank already in there) a dehumidifier and a tower fan w/ a HEPA air filter to catch the dust and blow in there maybe 2 on opposite ends for better air circulation. I might just use this hut in the future to do a huge single plant under a 1k and see what i can get or just run no more than 4 large plants because water 21 plants in this hut is a pain since you have to take them out one by one when its time to clean them and rotate them. It would be easier to rotate a handful of bigger ones in bigger pots I think.

I still strongly reccomend this for anyone in need of a hut, its better than my c22 cabinet by far and with the dehumidifier for week2 going forward in the next run its going to work like a charm, I may not even need to put the dehumidifier in there because it might do the trick just being outside the hut and nipping the rainforest conditions in the bud! The friggin walls are bleeding water if I don't leave all the windows slightly opened, lol.

Being clean goes a long way with these huts, they are not reccomended to sloppy lazy growers, your better off using an entire room if thats the case. But its better to be clean than not.

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo I have been chanting through this entire grow with the Hut and that has also helped me with this grow substantially.

Here is a link to my growthread here outlining this grow currently underway.

this is a good thread you have got here.
i am thinking about getting a hydrohut deluxe or homebox big mama. they are both around 8'x4' - (2.4mx1.2m). is 3 x 600w overkill for this space? i will use aorcooled lights.

it comes up to around 56w/sqft. which seem reasonable, what are the deluxe/big mama users using for lighting?

to those who know what mil thickness of black plastic sheeting is totally opaque from sunlight?

Some say 3mil and some say 6. any opinon?

I may buy a small sheet of both and build a tent in the sunlight to find out.

but if your building a light proof area this is what you need. I felt like such an asshole once I found it I had been building plywood rooms and layered tarp veg tents and shit for a long time.

all it takes is twenty bucks of black plastic sheeting.

Everyone is talking about these things costing 300 bucks. What about using portable ice shanty's. they cost $120 and you can find big ones or personal ones that may fit into a closet. my .02

The reason i would go with premade tents before makin my own is because of resale value and they are easily torn down and stored if need be..
If the total cost is
600 HPS ballast bulb reflector- 300
Homebox- 300
exhaust fan-150
you could probably sell this set for 500 and not loss much on the investment
