It's another Sunday morning and that means something is going to get cut close to soil level very soon. There's a Jackberry flopping all over itself and smelling of cherries that is ready. I will replace the harvested plant with a Satori that is waiting for her turn under the 12/12 schedule. I am going to stick a few cuttings from it before moving her into flower.

Must roll a joint. It is getting late. Pictures to follow.

I have been hauling old pots of soil out of the rooms and cleaning pots and bringing clean pots back down the stairs and lugging a bag of ProMix down the steps to be ready this morning for some transplanting.

I spent some hours under the shade of the pecan tree giving each pot a 10 minute bath in Physan 20.

During the soak time I watched the male bluebird fly back and forth to feed the hatchlings in the nesting box. This is the second brood this year. There is a small bat house mounted at the top of the same pole.

On the sunny edge of the shade are a couple of old scuppernong vines. I wonder how they are doing this year?

The possums and raccoons are already making plans for Labor Day weekend. They gather for a night time grape eating contest.

Been a while since i visited this thread. Did that chocolate trip cross turn out female? Love the flavors that one puts out.

Let us know what the satori is like, too!

Good morning, @Nannymouse , it has been a while since the mention of the chocolate trip cross. Such a while that I was thinking to myself, "What chocolate trip cross?" LOL I had to search for it. None of them came up. I have to pull the bag o' seeds out of the fridge and pull some out to find some new flavors.

The two Satoris are doing well and I think they are in flower for week 3 & 4. They are the two on the far left in the photo below. The taller is in week 4 the other is in the lower left corner of the frame. I was advised they stretch a lot. So far so good.

Grocery store run this morning and then I will plant some seeds later. Thank you for the reminder, @Nannymouse .

Since the last post there was a leak that developed at the pressure tank shut off valve. I rigged a patch that slowed the leak, but I was unable to break loose the pipe union and I did not want to start banging on the old pipes.
20240709_121337.jpg

Of course it happened during the 4th of July weekend and plumbers were scarce. They got here Tuesday afternoon and in an hour there was no more leaking.

The rooms have been running at near 90F this summer and I have not run the AC in the flower room so far. The flowers are doing very well and they are drinking a lot of water. There are some solid buds forming. Here are some random shots of the flower girls.

I sense a breath of the Emerald Isle. Thanks for stopping in, @superx.
Garden chores will include some feeding, trimming lower branches, and maybe a few seeds dropped.

That all happens after we head to the lab for a little blood workup.

Good morning, @Hmong , thanks for stopping by for a look.

I have some harvest pictures up first.
Hippy Slayer that I have been nibbling buds. Time to jar them.
P7280002.JPG

The Sunday after the Hippy Slayer came down I harvested a C99. It is now hanging from a ceiling fan to finish drying.

Yesterday was another harvest. This is a Killer Queen.

P7280003.JPG

The next Sunday morning's arrival will bring a Satori to harvest. That's a new flavor for me. It is bulky.

This is a shot from the back corner of the flower room. This would be the location of the new plant in the first week of flower.

I have some planting to do in the veg room. I need a couple more to keep the perpetual garden rolling along.

It is hot down there but the buds have not been affected.

looking good, Sir (y)

how long is your drying time with those 65% humidity? on average?

I highly recommend some plastic storage boxes to prolong the curing process, if its too quick at times.

Drying time usually takes about two weeks. The cut plant hangs in the dark at the top of the stairs for a week. Then I hang it from a ceiling fan in another room upstairs until the fan leaves snap off easily. It is very humid in the Sunshine State especially in the summer so it takes time for the drying. Working with one plant harvest per week reduces the work load.

I'm asking, because at my location there are some hacks necessary to even achieve 65% humidity for drying. During heating season it's always in the low 40%s only taking days for whole plants to be crisp outside. At this point I have it down to a science for my seasonal conditions, but I'm always curious how others are doing it.

some plants you got there look big and thick, might consider breaking em apart into 2ft colas.
that 90F heat + moisture is danger zone for budrot. You're better ventilated than me though, having em hang freely in the room.

I prefer to keep the plant hanging as a whole. I can monitor the drying time by the feel of the fan leaves; crispy crackly fan leaves come off first and then in a few days I remove the dry sugar leaves. Bare buds on branches stay attached another day or two before going into a jar.

This morning I am about to make the decision to put up some H-word shutters. I do not think they will be necessary, but like @moose eater might say. "Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them." I do not trust this one like all of the rest of them.

See you all in a few hours then I will make a pizza for lunch.

10 Soulmate seedlings are above ground now.

This is the Killer Queen that spent the past week hanging in the dark in 90F/33C + temps. The buds are still moist; too moist to smoke at this point. A few more days and the fan leaves will be ready to snap off.
P8040003.JPG

There are wind chimes in a pile in the lower right corner. We took those down and put up shutters yesterday in anticipation of Debby's projected arrival tomorrow.

The Satori is now hanging at the top of the stairs. She got bulked up during the 9 week journey through flowering. Pineapple, a bit of fuel, with a hint of skunk essence is what I smell.

Looking very nice, buzz.

I was accustomed to seeing some of those similar humidity and temperature readings in my basement shop at times. Sometimes a challenge.

I do not know what the difference is in the flower room between HPS and LED and high temperatures affecting bud quality, but I am noticing a difference in favor of LED. HPS and temps above 85F produced airy fluffy buds. The same strains under HPS in the cooler months produced dense tight nuggets. When I disconnected the portable AC unit a while ago I watched the temperature rise over the weeks since. Bud quality improved in the heat under LED.

I dumped the rain gauge to give Debby an accurate rainfall count. The outer bands will arrive sometime tonight. We are as ready as we are going to get. I'm going to take some 'before' pics around the house just in case I might need them for the 'after'. She is going to be uncomfortably close by.

I watched that a bit on weather radar the other day. Looked like She would pass just to your south, but with diminishing winds a She crossed the northern mainland of Fla. and headed toward South Carolina, dropping ~25% or so of the winds speed.

Batten down the hatches!!
