Well put. The culture at my school in the 70's was very anti gay. Anyone who was different, a bit effeminate got bashed daily. In the larger community gay bashing was a sport; this occurring in a city with a very large gay community. Quite a lot of these resulted in murder, one of which was only recently solved after 40 years. I can't imagine what it was like to grow up gay, or trans, in an environment like that. Not surprising but the suicide rate for such kids was much higher.
I am all for education and acceptance around sexuality. My kids grew up accepting of differences and their school friends had a much better experience.
To me a lot of this argument is based on personal fear, maybe of ones own sexuality, or just intolerance of differences. This is education, not grooming.
Hand in hand with the bullshit that is school, the absurdity our society has created, wherein we juxtapose that these are to be the best years of their lives. Empty words echoed by my parents, a reality which never arrived.
Contrasted with kids who grow up in a native community, or rural setting. especially the isolated ones; name calling rarely occurs and is handled swiftly in a 'real' mediated fashion. Kids are fishing, riding, making hay, building cooking/smoking fires, water wheels and dam catchments. In a native community parents need not 'tell their kids' what gender they are, as I believe Shithawk hand rung over. This human/animal being, comes as easy as the flowing river. Most, except killers are warmly accepted.
The problems you perceive with this teaching of gender acceptance is rooted in a corrupt society who thinks it is their duty to mold little minds to fit in, who think it is required that kids must have their goody goody time at school and learn to socialize; instead of learning to grow a plant, twist a wrench, complete a problem, hunt mushrooms, catch a fish, build a windmill.

Funny. I ran into my very first trans person 2 weekends ago working a job! But how could that be? I mean, you just said they don't exist?? She was right out there in the open and everything, interacting with dispensary customers.
Maybe it's the places you visit. Or maybe, just maybe, because transgender community is so incredibly small, you don't have a transgendered person in your neighborhood. I mean it took me 52 years to see my first live one.

Maybe there would have been less sexual abuse in the 70s and 80s if kids were better educated. Ironic that Frosty linked a song by Rolf Harris, who for international readers, was a popular kids entertainer convicted decades later for sexual abuse. Children are now taught what is inappropriate touching and are much more likely to be listened to than they were in the good old days.

If you are about just minding your business, then what does it matter if someone else is transgender or not? I don't understand why this is an issue for people like yourself? Just respect that some people are different and should be free to express that.
The idea is that there is a well of souls from which souls somehow are picked up and inserted into bodies, and somehow the mechanics of this operation misfires at times causing people to end up in the wrong body with no other option than genital mutilation and dosing with synthetic chemicals, puberty blockers.
