Samesies. Have a couple gay friends. I've seen a lot of crossdressers and straight up drag queens. But this was my first person obviously going through transition. Other than it being my first one, there was nothing notable about the experience. Certainly no urge to mutilate myself. Honestly, I just had a lot of question I would have loved to have asked. But it wasn't the appropriate forum and I'm sure my looks would have made her a bit nervous if I would just dove right into asking some pretty personal questions.
Isn't TikTok limited to like 30 seconds? And you honestly believe you can learn everything you need to know about an incredibly complex social issue from a short video with zero context or accountability from those who made the video?

it happens here in the US as well. it is nearly exclusively (so far as my research has shown) done in Muslim communities in an cruelly misguided effort to keep girls/women from enjoying sex, or WANTING to enjoy sex. i guess they figure if it isn't fun with a husband, they won't give someone else a shot at making them happy. surprised the idea hasn't caught on with certain religious groups here...

Yeah, I didn't want to point that finger, but it is interesting how the source of these types of control always stem from the manipulation of peoples belief systems.
Just finished re-reading Pimp by Iceberg Slim, there's a lot of interesting societal comparisons in that book. Many that seem as apparent now as then.

In the 60s and 70s, some of us saw noteworthy Black people come to speak in schools, too. Maybe they were trying to turn those of us who were paler in tone, Black?

I think many folks needed better educations where definitions and perceptions or interpretations are concerned.
A lot of it speaks to control and fear. But always control and fear. And yep, the references to someone's conjured, man-made book of parables.
Maybe they're not aware that Shakespear employed actors in drag? Or that some of the US combat troops in remote or front locations when engaging in theater or skits also had troops in drag?
I wonder what it's like to be so repulsed, frightened and yet fixated on those things that don't involve the beholder of said outrage even a little bit? Bored and needing something to despise, regardless of the lack of any real understanding of it?
And decrying self-determination while claiming to support self-determination? Invisible hypocrisy where self-assessments are concerned? Absolutely.
And they seem to have completely missed the very real numbers regarding those people who are born with both female and male chromosome array. As though some facts simply can't make it through the thick areas of defenses aimed at refuting or running from anything unusual for their limited life experiences.
That said, I can pretty much guarantee there are no 3-year-olds receiving 'gender affirming care'.
Some folks have lost the ability to differentiate between propagandist rubbish and factual news... let alone fear and science.
Some of them are still posting articles about the COVID vaccine that were proven false months ago, yet they perceive themselves as enlightened and thoughtful. Unable to see the ring in their noses.
