Maybe the reason the prison system is overloaded is due to the amount of poor people who are incarcerated for non violent crime. Maybe if they weren't poor, they wouldn't be committing petty crimes and ending up overflowing the prison system.

I'll tell you who isn't paying for this shit - rich people and corporations. You and I are paying for this because rich people have taken over Washington to make sure they stay rich by not having to pay for it. But you already know this. A lot of people unfortunately continually fall for their dogwhistle attacks on small groups of people who have no legislative voice, who haven't made any laws or fixed the system to their advantage, so they can say "These people are why your life sucks and is terrible and you should blame them." You know, instead of the people who make the laws and fix the system to their advantage and who are in fact responsible all of our lives being miserable.

I think it is important to remember that Gender Affirming Care isn't limited to transgender people. Cisgender people -- that is people who (for example) were born male and who consider themselves to be male -- need Gender Affirming Care too. Example, when soldiers are injured in combat and when their sex organs are injured, these people are afforded Gender Affirming Care. This is as it should be.
