That's no secret OJ..just google it..Gilroy, CA..That's Gilroy's claim to fame..although I think Chinese garlic at super low prices..put the hurt on the American garlic farmers..

I think it's commonly attacked by the Italian Bread Butterfly... :biglaugh:

 Hey OJ thanks for the tip bro. I have put 1000 predators in there so far and they seem to be doing the trick. I have also top dressed my soil with D.E. to keep the ants out of my pots. Pack has answered your question.

Let me get you a link to last years grow, I'll be right back.

:joint: Here you go OJ this is a link to last years GH grow. I have changed a few things to try and make it better and easier. The vents in the roof and the floor seem to be helping with controling the temps. They are only 5-10 degrees hotter than outside, where last year they were 15-20 degrees hotter.

I remember hearing about the garlic spray on Martha Stewart, tv, I believe. Probably saw it before that b/c there are other Commercial Concentrates on the market, some marketed towards deer I believe.

One thing I wanted to try to cool off a greenhouse: Run a pipe, i.e. 4" corregated pipe, underground from the middle of the gh, to a spot 30' away. Both ends come up, out of the ground. The one in the yard has a china hat to keep out rain, shade it and some metal screen to keep out rodents. As the room heats up, it draws air by convection from the pipe. Check this: the air pulled thru the pipe is cooled by the surrounding earth. A small fan would be better but it would still work. In your case, you would have to close off your lower vents if you were to use convection currents. But why, a small fan would not use much electricity and could even be solar powered.

How deep to bury the pipe would be the question. I saw this on PBS. Dude had a solar home and southern exposure for veggies indoors. The pipe kept the area cool but he was also in Maine, I believe, so the temps were probably lower than most peeps. Deffinately lower than mine. My address is 667, neighbor of the beast. Right next door to Hell.

You wouldn't have an built-in underground pool, would you? I have an idea for those no longer used eyesoars too.

:yoinks: GroIt's 10:00 PM right now and it is still 90. It was hotter than hell today :sasmokin: :sasmokin: :yoinks: The mites still aren't gone , but they seem to be under control. I am going to put 1000 more predators in there next week. Can't wait to see those pics :woohoo: I will post more next week.

TPI think my brain melted today? :fsu: It was so hot that while we were in the pool with our heads out of the water we were still sweating bullets. :yoinks: :sasmokin: Nothing a few Silver Bullets can't fix though.

115? :yoinks: I feel sorry for you fellas but swimmin and drinkin sounds like a good time. That's a bit too hot. must be hard to sleep at night unless you slept in the pool. Hope your plants are fine.

This 100f crap caught me off guard and I may have melted my cuts :badday: I live near the coast so 75-80 is hot for me but 100f is crazy. It's been 13 days and no roots yet.. some bumps on the stems but no roots and the stems near the cut look a bit mushy from the hot cloner temps so I'm worried... All my plants went into flowering after taking the cuts so I may be up a creek :bat: Should I be worried or just give em more time?

Peace

My plants are doing fine in this heat. Growth has slowed way down , but they still look real healthy. I have been giving them 2 gallons of water each everyday. They are thirsty as hell. :hotbounce

:woohoo: We are supposed to be cooling down to around 95-100 the next couple of days then to around the low 90's the rest of the week.

Gro let me know if you need new cuts I can still take more for you, just let me know which ones you need? Is your TW a sticky ass bitch too? Mine is so sticky that if I touch the leaves my fingers get stuck to them. :woohoo:

TP I have been trying to get HotRod to skinny dip wioth me for a few weeks now and she just won't do it. :cuss: I think I need to add more beer this time and try again tonight. :friends:

It has been so hot that my AC has not turned off all weekend and it was still 85 degrees in my house yesterday. :hotbounce :hotbounce I personally hate the heat.

ebbnflow don't throw it away :nono: some corrugated fiberglass, a few vents and a few fans and you have a nice GH. Oh and very stealthy too. It is hot in there , but I had half as much ventilation last yeart and I still grew some monsters. I have a link to last years grow on the last page check it out.

Garlic city, did you post any photos on how you built your gH roof? I noticed in last years thread, you mentioned you would but I didn't see it. Do you have any insulation on those walls or is that just some white sheeting that you put up?

I guess yall need to change your 'current mood' to hot. My temps aren't even that HOT> damn! We have high humidity so it feels hotter than it really is but 115F? Those storms from the Pacific are giving us some relief now. Just hope they don't turn into any Major Hurricanes now that they are moving into the Gulf of Mexico.

 Oj no I didn't post any pics of how I built the roof. It was pretty simple though. I pulled the old metal roof the metal cross supports. Then with side cutters I cut my FG to fit. Then I got some sxelf tapping screws with rubber washers and screwed the Fg to the support beams. I think it only took me about 3 hours to remove the old roof and install the new FG roof.

Joe No insulation just panda plastic I got from a local hydro store. The original walls were pretty dirty so it was not a good idea to paint. I figured the plastic was a good reflective material and easy to clean. And I was right.

:hotbounce Well so far today it is only 105 in the shade. :badday: I miss winter now. The weathermen have been saying the fog is going to come in and cool us down, but where is the damn fog!!!!!
