And I want to read a book I haven't ever read before...

I admit that I want to dive in and imagine... see what someone else saw when it's never been but is happening differently for infinity...

Oh man... can I jones at a meeting...???!!!

Maybe I'll go take some air....

I was like that robot from Short Circuit when I was a kid ...

I just couldn't stop ...

Trading quality comic books and hard earned paper route money on batteries just for the flashlight to read encyclopedias under the comforter at night....

What was I thinking man
....

I had it so bad.....

And it's back... back but somehow more hungry and more fearless...

It is too late for me.... save yourselves!!!

By the way, the local paper routes are not widely available to wasted old guys (even if you have your own bicycle) and nobody remembers Dark Horse Comics.... but the local book store is somehow in business... just an FYI or an awkward heads up.

when i read, it's often something like: how to make a cmos distortion circuit or... like... why the nested hierarchy aspect of taxonomy means we humans are both ape and monkey...

but i do have a taste for dick... philip k dick.

i have to finish valis, heavily enjoyed the three stigmata of palmer eldtritch, absolutely adore ubik, and was perplexed yet moved by the transmigration of timothy archer.
there are a few others i'm forgetting, but that's mostly it as far as fiction goes. one day i'll digest his exegesis, if for nothing more than shits n giggles.

i know i need to read more and more history (the deeper you dive, the more damn shit there is lol), but i'm more into natural history... nature is a lot easier to conceptualize and pick apart: the stupidity, cowardice, and callousness of humans is just too much for my little analytical mind to handle.

it reminds me of ganredhel from the game elder scrolls iv: oblivion:

"I train dogs. And people. Prefer dogs. People, I teach them Advanced Acrobatics. Up and jump. Dogs, I teach them to bite people."

i've been reading damn near everything i could find since i was a wee little fucker. from comic books, hunting and fishing mags, all the way to the Bible. used to get in trouble in school for reading ahead of what the class was on, and for hiding under my covers after "bed time" with a flashlight and a good book. this paid off in high school, when i aced both history and american history because i'd already read it all before. right now, i'm almost done with Thomas Paines "The Rights of Man", a book i somehow overlooked in my youth. give me your favorite titles and writers, in case i've missed them too...:smoke:
I've nearly finished google

Philip K. Dick.

You refuse to read and can't do it anyway...

Why are you here?

The last book I read in a day was Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas.

That was in junior high, I think!!
that's a good one, i've worn the movie out but i'll have to revisit the book one day.

that reminds me, he has a ton of other good stuff and i really want to find his political writings. he also wrote a LOT of sports column type stuff; i don't really follow sports (i'll play em), but i remember he would go on hilarious tangents.

thompson once ran for (i think it was) sherriff of aspen, colorado; his opponent was a super- conservative with a short haircut, so thompson shaved his head and accused the other guy of being a "long- haired" hippie or some shit... u should read his main platform points, which include disarming the cops, replacing the streets with grass and doing a 100% walkable city, as well as adopting a policy of harrassment against those deemed "land- rapers"; his campaign used a sherriff's star with a two- thumbed hand holding a peyote button.

and idk, i think everyone ought to watch the conan o'brien segment where they go and shoot guns on thompson's land... the man's a treasure to posterity.

A book must be very captivating to keep me reading. That rarely happens, once every three to five years.

The last one was Frank Herberts DUNE, very very good. Part two couldn't hold me for long sadly...
I also read the three stigmas of palmer eldritch but the more amphetamine driven style of Phillip K Dick doesn't speak to me much.
I need metaphysical heroic psychedelic stereotypes 🤣

Thats why i love Robert E Howards Conan the Barbarian tales. Especially the one with the tower and the elephantheaded god, traped in the dungeons. The one with the wizzards mirrors is also good.

In my teens i consumed the tales of HP Lovecraft and everything from Robert Anton Wilson.
I reread some books of Robert Anton Wilson a few years ago and was shocked how much impact his writings had on my adolescent brain or my worldviewdevelopment in general.

I would love to find some good read again... At the moment i try to stay with David Lindsays A Voyage to Arcturus.
But i enjoy wasting my time with watching weedpics on the internet more.
