Just out of curiosity are you growing clones or seedplants and what size container are you starting out in?
Both seedlings and clones. I also use 4" pots all the way up to 3 gal.

Well thennn...Is the strain "Karen Carpenter"?
I don't get it.

I have grown A11, POG, Bubblicious, and several other unknown strains using FFOF. I am currantly growing AngelDust and WhiteBerry. I have learned how to use the stuff better with every grow.

Karen Carpenter was a singer in the 60s,a real bad anorexic she starved herself literally to death.Dumb joke.

Personally - I couldn't grow a plant like that - that small of a plant in that LARGE of a pot.

I start my seeds and clones in 10 oz styro cups. Easy to tell if he plant needs water - with your plan - - could be wet where there are no roots or vice versa, roots where there is no wet - neither is good. That said - they look pretty good. I have 1 new seedling (Quit yer dam snickering - I got ONE dam sprout out of some G13XWhite Giant freebies I really HATE freebies) - anyways,, I'll get you a picture - I think we may have different methods

First few grows I used clear 10 or 12 ox cups so I could watch root development - now it's transplant 3 times every 3 weeks - so I'd veg nearly 2 months before I need a 3 gal pot - And that would be a plant that would grow into that pot during flowering. and I flower under 1000W (usually in 2 gal. pots 3/4 full)

Skelator is correct -

roots are just as important as what's above ground - dense and healthy is good.

ok - had to go get a picture for ya - - this one is a couple weeks along - wont need a transplant fo a couple weeks - then to 20oz cups - then 2 gallon,, then 3

I got a lot better at growing when I bellyied up and paid the ridiciouls sum of $24 for a bag of FF. - I cut it 50-50 or 60-40 with pearlite - I think it improves root development.

your going to be wanting a ph meter pretty soon

Its a huge waste of soil for 1 thing, those roots are going to grow along the sides and out the drainholes more than likely, leaving a big empty space of unused soil in the middle.I wouldnt know how often or how much to water in that situation either

No it's not necessary. You can use any ferts, including chemical ferts if you wish.

BioBizz and Botanicare are probably two of the most popular (besides FF) for organic.

so whats the best way to check for optimal humidity or to add it to the set up. obviously a humidifier possibly, but i've never dealt with this subject. still somewhat a noob i guess.

You can get a temp/humidity meter at any home store for $15-25 bucks.

If it's below 50%, bring it up to 60-70% during veg and to 50-60% during flower.

And on the FF OF soil in general: I've used it for both my grows and both needed more N nutes than I sparingly gave them: BB and a mystery sativa got a N def in flower the first time, and this time all plants got a N def in veg - the WW were corrected by an extra 1/4 strength GB watering, the GF and C99 needed more - gave them a total of three extra 1/4 strength waterings and 2 of the 4 are completely OK, the o ther two are probably going to lose the two lowest sets of fan leaves.

Marine cuisine is a preferted medium 10-7-7 , ocean forest has a big 0-0-0 but I like it better.

Is there something I can do other than removing them from the pots that would help so this isn't a waste of time for me. With this cycle I'm trying to do everything I can to get the best possible results/harvest.

ITI CHUSS,dont worry about it man, you're still gonna have a great harvest, its just that next time you'll know not to transplant in too large a container too soon. What you have there is not too bad.Actually, with clones I'll grow them in a 4 inch container as large as I can get them, then I go directly to 2 gallon for more veg and flower. With seedplants I like 4 inch to 1 gal to 3 gallon the best.I wouldnt be too concerned with what you have there. When you transplanted I'm sure the rootball went about 1/3rd of the way down into the soil, its when you start a seed or cutting in a really big container that makes no sense, what you have going there isnt bad.I wouldnt worry about it,looks pretty good really. If you'd have let them veg another week or so in the smaller container then went to those pots it would be about perfect

At least next time I'll know Skeletor. Thanks for the info bro. I'll keep you updated with pics as we go along. That way I can keep getting my supervision. lol.

This is my first grow with FFOF so im learning alot with this thread. All my other grows have been chem ferts with cheap soil so im used to being able to adjust quickly. Heres the deal.

I have alot of 2 week old babys in 16oz solo cups, they are under 180 watts of CFL right now and im watering with disstilled water. There have been no fertz added to the soil at all just strait FFOF. Most are showing yellowing on leaf tips and some streaking along the leafs.

Im assuming that is nute burn? Any ideas? And if you think this is the case what do i do about it? Let it go or flush out some ferts like I would do with a chem grow.

Any help would be great

Thanks

My opinion would be to take some FFOF out and mix in some perlite as best you can to where its like 30% perlite and 70% FFOF, and flush it a litte with water. They should be fine.

Sounds to me like you may need to feed them, you cant have fert burn without ferts

Hello all,

Skeletor, FFOF straight is too hot for seedlings IMO.

I had the same issues with my seedlings using fresh FFOF and Kellogg's Patio Plus.

I myself use spent FFOF for seedlings in 14 oz translucent plastic cups. They need little in the way of ferts for two weeks anyway. And I transplant at around 14-16 days anyway. So by that time they are ready for ffof/ewc/perlite (50/20/30) in 32 oz cups. From there twoo weeks later to 1 gallon containers till preflower and then into 3 gallon pots for a week or so before switch to 12/12.

I have just started using mycorrhizae granuals and I see a tremendous results- the roots just grow like crazy.

When I transplant, I water them in well with superthirve and kelp pH'ed to low 6's.

Usually its like 7-10 days before I need to water. I start using teas and Alaska fish shit around the thrid week the plant has ben in the soil. So far this seems to give the best results for me with regard to fert deficiencies or over ferting.
