just for reference, say if you wanted to pull of a fat lb per plant with a big yielding sativa strain (600 grams per sq meter indoor), when would you reccomend planting them for a place that's about the same lat as central fla with roughly the same weather? of course starting time garauntee's nothing, but what size pot's would you recommend to veg and flower in to secure the 1lb/1plant ratio?

isnt that the nirvana of gr0wing ....

like Cannapits min 5 gaLLON POT (dam pinky cap lock)

go for 10 gallon tall and slender ....

roots gr0w down so if u can find a 10 gallon say 3 foot by 2 foot pot ....

and a fast gr0wing strain outdoors u might get lucky ....

ill take some pics today ....
got 2K (grow indoor) lights and know how to gr0w ...
do not yield one dry lb per plant (not for trying) ..

IMHO .. lb(dry)/plant is a great goal but only a few can archive it on a consistent level specially outside gr0wing ..

I've never heard of anybody getting such large yields from a plant confined to a container. If you plant in the ground, you run a much larger risk of losing your plant to pests like root knot nematodes. Anyway, I guess that you would need at least a 15 gallon container for such a big plant.

Cannapits, gr0w: What size containers do you guys use outdoors and how much do you usually yield? I've only grown outdoors a few times, and the biggest container I used was five gallons and that produced around four ounces per plant. I have an Oger Kush outdoors now in a five gallon container. I'll post my yield, but it's not a very productive strain. It's more head stash.

agreed. yeah, the ground would be better though tropical - but not if there's a rainy season. you know how rain is in the subtropics, roots would drown once hurricane season comes. unless it were to be elevated properly. anyhow, it's all a learning experience and you can never set a goal too high unless it's omnipotence.

That's good to know. I'll try 70 days this time. Last time, I grew it in a one gallon container and got half an ounce, including leaves, in about 58 days. I'll report back what happens this time going 70 days in a five gallon container. Thanks for the advice.

Growing in the ground has it's own set of problems. I would prefer to grow a few extra plants in containers instead of one huge one in the ground. If you're concerned about plant numbers, then bloom a new plant every other month. I actually prefer to start them every month and have two out at a time. That way, only one is at peak stinkyness at a time. You have to veg indoors and use a strain that will flower while the days are still long though.

Welcome back. What have you been up to this past year? Did you have any good harvests? Is anything in the oven now?

Hey Tropical! Hey gr0wmatic!

It's totally cool you guys moved here from OG. After OG shutdown it got annoying trying to sift through everything that happend, so I just left it alone. Couple months back I thought I'd do a search for some web sites similar to OG and it led me here!

Didn't do to much growing last year. I was busy moving and working so didn't have the time to get anything set up. I just started an indoor grow a month ago and I have been keeping a thread in Micro Growers forum titled "150w HPS Attic Grow" Here's the link, http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=54601 It would be great if you guys stopped in. It's a small thread right now :D

How about you guys? Snag any dank harvests that I missed? Glad to see you guys are still safe  This :joint: to y'all!

Thankyou very much....weight is unknown as she's drying...I figure 2 oz dried....she was the slowest plant I've ever had...she made Bubba kush look like a fast vegger....60 day vegtime for 2 oz's is out the question...dont think she will be staying in the mother area...As for the smoking you out...in a perfect world I'd smoke everyone out....but after just buying new property because of a security threat i'd have to respectfully decline at this point in time.....others in this thread I think will agree that i'm not greedy just safe minded....best of luck and stay safe...p.s...pleasure to meet you sir

This Oger Kush was vegged five months from cut. I moved it from a one gallon container to five gallons about a week before I put it outside to finish. This photo was taken around three or four weeks from induction. I'll make sure she stays out the full ten weeks this time.

I'll be very happy if I get four ounces of buds and an ounce of leaves from this one. I got half an ounce total of buds and leaves last time in a one gallon container after 8 weeks of bloom.

Haha cannapits I was just kidding about the smoke out :D Secruity is always a top priority and I would never even actually suggest anyone from this site to smoke me out. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen.

Can't see the pic Tropical =(
