Pot Strains for Florida
I've never heard of anybody growing indica here in the summer without losing the whole grow to mold. I would save the indicas for the dry season, that's the winter here. You have veg them indoors or plant a lot of seeds though, because the short days will cause them to grow very small. I have some photos in my gallery of winter grown LUI.
In the summer, I would stick to a true tropical sativa. Those are meant for our climate. Bagseed usually works ok because seeded commercial mj usually comes from Mexico, Jamaica, Columbia, etc. They all have a climate similar to ours. If height is an issue, you can start them late, tie them down, scrog them, or top them. Topping also helps prevent mold because you end up with a bunch of small buds instead of single huge cola.
One more thing, I've heard of a lot of people around here losing their outdoor plants to pests. I like to start plants indoors and then put them outside only to flower them. That means they spend only half as much time exposed to pests. Plus, they are better able to survive grass hoppers and lizards once they have gotten more than a foot tall. Also, using fresh potting mix in a container instead of dirt in the ground helps because there are a lot of pests in the dirt and in the ground. The container is a barrier that slows down an invasion of root knot nematodes.
