Hey Baker, 56 days and another 30 to go, what strain you growing? I have some ECSD that is supposed to take 70 to 90 days to flower!!! Havent grown it out yet!!!

I do have some bad news

I was inspecting my plants very closely today and noticed something was moving on an underside of a fan leaf. I took a closer look with my loop, and sure enough SPIDER MITES

I of course went nuts, i was soo pissed. I have been so careful to not bring anything in with me. But good news is i think i caught it early. Upon further inspection, I only found a few on the upper leaves. I though they were pretty easy to spot without the loop!! There was a few smaller leaves on the plant's bottom that had about 7 to 10 on them. So i think this was there first leaves, where they were breeding and what not...

So i ran out to HD and picked up a Hot Shot NO PEST STRIP and a bottle of Garden Safe Houseplant & Garden insect spray. Say it kills all stage's of insects, including eggs!!!!

So i came home and tested the leaves with the larger amount of mites and sprayed. Waited for about 20min or so and checked on them.. DEAD!!!!

I sprayed both plants very well on the top and bottom of their leaves. I tried not to get the flowers as best i could but they will be ok. The bottle stated it could be used on edible plants up till the DAY of harvest. But i think with the spraying and the strip i should rid them of the little bastards!!!!!

Sorry I was too pissed to take pics of the pests but i did of the spray i bought so others can give it a try!!!





Ill make sure to give a good update on how the products worked and what not. Ill be paying more attention to my plants over the next few weeks!!

I'm thankful they started this late into flowering. Could have been worse if it was earlier.

If anyone else has had mite problems, let me hear about them and your methods!!!!!

Hey Stanky,
Sorry to hear about your mite trouble. Pests are no fun. I'm glad to say that I have not had to deal with any pests this far along. But I am having to deal with patients, with a possible 90+ day strain for my first grow, its hard to just watch it keep going. I wanna smoke it already!!! Anyways, your plants been lookin really good man, keep it up.

Killer pics, but bummer about the mites! I had spider mites late in flower once. Tried predator mites and they didn't do shit (guess they hibernate in 12/12 or something) so I got myself the hot shot no pest strips. Killed them real good after about 2-3 days (but I used them for about 10 to kill the hatchlings). If you get them again, I'd just use the strips and not even bother spraying anything. Dichlorvous (active ingredient) breaks down fairly rapidly, but I'm not sure about other things like sprays. The mites did damage my yield a little bit but I smoked TONS of bud from that harvest. The smoke was still killer, and I didn't grow any third nipples or anything.

If you ever use the strips, don't be around them much. Stuff is real bad for you if you're exposed to it too much.

Hey Icough.... Thanks for the tips. I did get the same pest strip and followed the directions. Im only in my grow room for a few minutes a day so hopefully ill be ok.

I dont think that there were any mites on my buds i only found them on the lower parts of the plant. But i may be wrong. Im just keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the last of them.

Ill be sure to update in a few days on the progress!!!!

The insect spray you have is no good. I recently used a bottle. It does kill the adult mites, however, they return with no problem. I used an entire bottle trying to get rid of them. The problem got very bad. I went ahead and spent a little more money and bought some neem oil. 1 application took care of the problem, completely.

I understand the no-pest strips you have work well, also, but I do not have any experience with them.

I think neem is the best, however.

Hey all i got a question about the no pest strips--

I hung a NPS lastnight, im still running my stanley blower and AC at night. Will this affect how the strip works? Does it have to be in a non ventilated room? Will it work at all when the room is ventilated?

Who ever has used the Hot Shot No Pest Strips before let me know what your experiences were and what type on conditions did you use them in?

When I used mine, I had them in a larger room, and I hung two of them with an 8" fan on 24/7. Still worked wonders. Though I admit, even though I had an 8" fan, my ventilation in that room wasn't ideal.

Baker- Ive def seen an improvement in the flowers since the addition of the molasses!!!!
Im going to do a pic update tonight or tomarrow!!! So you can see the difference!! There SWELLING like crazy!! Your grow looks great as well. Keep it green and safe!!!!

I got my Neem oil from Lowes Home Improvement.

It would probably be at Home Depot as well.

I've only used 1 application of the Neem, and over a week later, completely eliminated a bad infestation. I think it cost about 14 bones. It gets my double-thumbs up.

i found some einstein oil, pretty much just neem oil with a fancy name, at my local hydro shop for $20...i applied twice and as qwerty said, a week later and they were gone




edit: as a sidenote, i went into my hydroshop looking for pyrethrum (sp?) and they recommended the einstein oil instead.

Querty, rKrone... Sup guys!! Ill def be picking up some Need this weekend. However thus far there are not any new signs or spider mites on the plants!! I think the spray and the NPS worked well. There will be room for a NPS in all of my grow areas from now on!!!!

Anyways, Here is a quick pic update as promised!!!! Day 45 Flower!!!
Shorter plants trichs are turning amber. Not alot but ive found a few!!

Those are lookin sweet stanky. Keep an eye on those trichs, they'll tell ya for each plant. looks like ya might have another week or two tops. great grow man. thus far ya done a great job. I know ya gonna make it the rest of the way. Keep it up.
