So, do you actually prune the top of the plants insides?

My plants are so f-in tall it's really hard to get on a ladder, then reach inside of my cages. I pruned the bottom and middle, and removed the weak branches just like you described. HOwever, I said F the tops. Almost broke my neck several times trying.

It probably depends on the structure of each strain and plant height vs width. Those factors + the amount/penetration of sunlight that the plants receive, because eventually the interior stuff that doesnt get enough light will get scraggly. some strains need way more interior pruning; bodhi's Appalachia crosses usually branch like crazy and if you dont clean them up you will end up with a lot of BS.

time for dab #30. been a long week.

garden is looking great T, keep up the good work. are you getting anymore soil tests this year?

Slownickel, that is the test I've referred to when I mention how long it takes for the oyster to break down. I have his soil mix and mine started at 56% calcium saturation. So you can more or less look at them as the same soil, my test before and his after. Just FYI.

Amannamedtruth, chronosync, Shcrews, thank you kindly---

Just my girl and I here for now.

If I test at all it will be a composite (20 sites mixed into 1 bag tested once)

Your calcium at 77% is cranking. Not sure I believe this number though. The reason is that you most likely have quite of bit of this calcium in a carbonate form. It will get available slowly. How fine a grind is the material that you are using? Like ground flour, sand size or bigger particles? Was there any mention of mesh? Say 60 mesh, 100, 120, 200?

This Calcium number is obviously much higher than anyone else that we have seen so far and your plants reflect it. The are cranking. Your potassium at this level is quite interesting. Do you add magnesium during the season?

I can only imagine how sweet the result. I am here to learn. Thanks for the spectacular photos!

Tess,

If you had a couple of spectacular plants and some others that didn't do what you want, why not test them separately?

This way you may learn what drives your grow... This is the chance to understand using numbers what is really happening. Just look at SHCrews numbers! His numbers tell alot.

Tess,

Spectrum will charge you $30 or so per sample. Post office for soil maybe $10? Results the next day after they arrive.

Dialing in what is missing can give a very high cost-benefit ratio.

Don't take food out of your families mouths though...

I see your point...but this isnt a year of perfectionism for me...hopefully next year is. I will be happy with whatever I get. Overall im happy with what im seeing and thats good enough for me for now.

BTW. Thanks for the heads up on the EMT. Saved me a bunch.

I have loads of t-posts, so I decided to drive the t-posts, and scab on the sticks of 3/4 emt.

Yeah, good call on EMT for sure... Last year I found a guy with loads of 20 ft steel rods he had sitting on his farm for like 30 years. I had his sun cut me 50 or so 10 footers and that's all they had. Wondering how I was gonna get more. Those EMT lighting rods are priced decently at $3.50 each and will work good :)

Hey Tess I just found your thread last night and read the whole thing. Awesome job with your plants bro. You really turned those things around and have some proper trees now.
Sorry this is a little off topic, I hope you don't mind me posting this in your thread, but I've seen some pretty knowledgeable growers posting in here, including yourself. So, I was wondering if any one knows how often to spray Pure Protein Dry and / or Albion Ca, and when to stop spraying them?
Thanks for letting me post here Tess! Keep on growing those beasts!
:smoweed:

Thanks, glad you got something out of it, leadsled told me to stop with the Ca 2-3weeks into flowering...so I'm going with 3.

Edit...also said weekly on the Ca
