Good afternoon Packerfan.

I hadent heard of connoisseur before I started researching this strain. Glad to hear they have a good reputation. You are right that the good old roadkill skunk is mostly gone and I miss it as well and will continue to look for it. The chemmy jones has some of that, not sure how many seeds they the guy who grows it had to go through to find the keeper but it's really killer smoke.

OJD from connoisseur breeds pure heat! Top quality there bud. High expectations for sure

Greetings friends.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been busy with garden chores and I'm just about done with what I wanted to do this weekend. I got to the grow shop and got drying racks and other supplies, got plants watered, new cuts taken and in the cloner, and I'm keeping my eye on the two plants that are drying. I have to finish up the new mom and clone area and pop some seeds but I think I'll be able to get that done today if I can get motivated and going on it.

I feel pretty good about my chances of getting good roots on the clones this time. I cut the clones with care and started with a nice clean cloner. I have the light about 3' above the cloner so I don't think I'll fry the baby's this time. I should know in about a week. Here is a pic of them and the moms.

thanks for the kind wishes,rode
the area i live in is safe but a lot of others are not so lucky
i can probably get parafin wax pretty cheap at the store so i might go with that to start with
if you recommend the attitude seed bank, thats a solid endorsement in my book
/sometimes its worth it to pay a little more for better service
what type of payment did you use?

looks like you might be in for a white christmas, f'nut!
/that seems so novel to someone living in s.cal
it was freaking in the high 70's today and it looks like the winds might be kicking back up again
to tell you the truth i wish it were colder right about now
it just dosent feel like christmas when its this warm
hopefully the next week will get back to normal
hope you like the mesh racks, they work great hanging in a dark closet
for drying, i hang large sections first or lay them on the mesh rack
after a few days or so, i trim the nugs off the branch and then back to the rack for a final dry
you might be able to find a deal on the ones you use for laundry, but they usually dont have the side walls so maybe its better to go with racks made specifically for bud

You may be right about the white Christmas pop. It's been cold enough that the inch of snow we got Friday night has stuck around and the weather man says we should get a couple more inches of snow today. Temps are supposed to stay below freezing for the foreseeable future so we will see. We are never sure of a white Christmas here but it's usually cold enough, just not always snow since we don't get much lake effect snow it's a crap shoot. If it's going to be cold it might as well snow so that people can enjoy skiing, snowmobiling or whatever you like to do.

When I lived in Oakland I had mixed feelings about the season. Growing up here I had always associated Christmas with cold weather and it just didn't feel the same when it was in the 60's or warmer at the holidays. On the other hand I didn't mind having good bike riding weather there all year and the older I get the less I like the cold. Cold weather takes a lot out of a person, your body has to work harder to maintain core temp and wearing all the layers of cloths means carrying more weight. Even though a white Christmas is kind of romantic or something I think you guys have it better away from the cold.

The plants I harvested Friday are drying quickly with the low humidity that the cold air has brought us. I might even be able to try the new drying rack tonight if I cut some budlets off the branches. I can tell that I'm going to have to jar the buds a little early and then finish the dry slower by taking them in and out of the jars to get them to dry evenly. I'm looking forward to using the rack for the full harvest of the other two plants in a week or two. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well gang, we are officially in the holiday spirit, got our tree up and decorated. I sprung for an 8ft noble fir this year. All the shopping and wrapping was done last weekend. Going to take the kids to see some cool Xmas light displays . Ho ho ho merry Christmas to all.:xmastree::santa1::tree:

That's great Packerfan. You are way ahead of the game and can look forward to a nice relaxing holladay now. We haven't had a real tree for a long time but there is something special about the nice pine smell of a live Xmas tree. We always had live trees when I was a kid.

Hello Tribe
I want to show some of my girls I have this tip issue on the candy kush they stay light for a long time. as they mature they finally green up. I gave extra N at the switch and two weeks in, it helped a lot but still got it on the tops. Other strains not affected
Also a shot of my Co2 rig and the Cookies Kush with the skinny leaves she filled in but not anything like the pix I have seen.
Your girls are looking great Rodehazrd. I can't see the light color in the pics but they look happy to me. How does your Co2 rig work?

your veg' room is looking great my man
is that a four bulb t-5 lamp array? and is it tilted towards the larger platns?
i also notice that your clones in the areocloner are uncovered
what are your temps and humidity like?
do you notice a difference in the buds that get a quicker dry when the humidity is so low?
/with the lower humidity, i found that the buds would cure to a different color
yeah i guess its hard to complain about 70' weather to someone ankle deep in snow
its been a really warm start to the season and just when i start getting used to the colder temps, mother nature turns the heat up on me again
/i know ive said it before, but hopefully this is the last warm spell
have you got the house all decorated for the holidays?

sounds like you are going heavy on the candy kush, rode
were they taken from clone or are you starting from seeds there, brother?
the northern lights i used to grow was a 8wk plant ( ready in 7 but i let her go that extra week)
/but she wasnt a BB cross ( i assume BB: blue berry), so with the added sativa it might go an extra week or so
have you grown out any of these before?
/sorry in advance if you already mentioned any of this, friend, but im pretty high right now

welcome back,mrGreen

are you growing any plants right now?

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

Thanks brother. I got the second t5 set up yesterday so soon the moms will have their own home. Both of my t5's are the 4 bulb ones they seem to work really well in my spaces. I had just taken the cuts and done some pruning of the moms so I had the light kind of high on them. I keep it at an angle because a couple of the moms are taller and needed more room.

I like that the cloner dosent need a dome. The plants have to get their water through the stem which seems more natural. The clones look great after a couple days in there so I'm still hopeful that they will root quickly.

Humidity has dropped to just under 40% but the plants and cuts look like they are ok with that. Temps are right about 70 degrees in the basement and lights off in the tents. I'm noticing that the buds are drying very quickly. I chopped on Friday night and I needed to cut the budlets into jars this morning. I think between the low humidity and the fact that these buds are more airy and light is making for a fast dry. I'm sure they will need to come out of the jars and go on the racks tonight after the moisture redistributes.

I'd love a nice 70 degree day about now but I can understand how you'd want some cooler weather for the season. It's not the snow that I don't like but the extreme cold that we get sometimes is the tough part. When we get an arctic blast it is hard to do anything outside. When it's way below zero and cars don't start and it hurts your lungs to breathe in, that's when it sucks here. It's usually warmer when it does snow around here, the super cold air just dosent hold enough moisture for snow.

My wife did get the tree up and decorated and some decorations and lights on the trees in the front yard. To be honest we just got the last of the Halloween decorations down and put away so it's a good thing that she dosent do as much for Christmas or we'd be still taking it down in February. I think we have a good balance with the decorating, enough but not too much.

Have you been naughty or nice this year... heard Santa may have chemdog
Good afternoon Badfishy.

I try to be nice but I think I may be on santas permanent naughty list for all my bad behavior when I was younger. I'm not very hopeful that these plants are going to represent the chemdog flavor that I wanted on this run. Either it's not in these phenos or I did a bad enough job with them that it's not coming out in the final product, at least not yet, I have 2 more to harvest and the rest to cure. And another 1/2 pack of seeds to pop.

Since we are on the subject what do you guys think about how much the grow affects final flavor? If I do a better job keeping these plants happy next time do they have the potential to have more flavor? So far I'm looking at great trichomes coverage but fluffy airy buds that don't have a super strong scent. im not saying that they are bad or don't smell or taste good just not what I'm looking for.

Hey Pops
The girls are all from seed I had 10 Regs of the CK and the Nl by Big Bud and Dutch Kush are single seed freebies along with the Cookies Kush from attitude
I'm trying my hand at the more indica strains to get experience. I don't expect to start up in Co and market all headband and Haze I keep watching the Co growers thread but rarely recognize the names of cuts they use. So far these strains seem easy. the Candy likes more nitrogen than I get from the Fish Hydro but the others seem to like it just fine. I cheated on my biota by giving them some calcium nitrate, If I do them again I will add some quano top dress for them.
The Co2 is just a fungus that gives off Co2 through the little white patch on the bag. I just hang it over the fan and its good for months. EZCo2 is the brand name I also expect some Co2 from my soil food web activity some of the microbes give it off as waste.
Those fires starting up again stay safe.:tiphat:

dont bother too much trying to keep up with the flavor of the month, rode'
they are all based on kushes and sativas in my book and i bet some are just being named "OG flying monkies cookie glue" by whom every is selling it
if you can find a keeper among what you have i think you will be able to hold your own ( a nice arsenal there i might add)
just get to know your plants and what they like so you can grow them to their best
/good weed always sells itself, brother

which makes a nice segue into fiddys comment about"... how much the grow affects final flavor?"
i think each plant has a certain potential and when grown with care and love will reach near that top end
but so many things go into the final product that sometimes its better to look at the whole picture, not just how it was grown
drying time ( a recent topic), cure, and when it was picked also play a big role in what goes into your bowl

looking at your plants now, fiddy, i think you have come a long way since our first conversations way back when

well sure, but often flavor is just as effected by how the plant is handled after chop
and isnt this the first time you grew out this plant

Hello Guys.
Thanks for the kind words Pop. I'm enjoying the different strains.
On the flavor profile I think its both getting a balance of nutrients and cure. I had some bangi was very unimpressive until about 3 weeks in the jar. Then became stellar in aroma and buzz. The really sweet flavor just got better and better. I think too the micro's really enhance the flavor and smell. The EJ microblast so far gave me the best flavor and smell with my system . I am trying to change to micropak next run as its what Slo uses for our kind of plants, and its cheap. My last bottle of EJ was a solidified mush I discarded. I read you could shake it enough to use but had already tossed it. The FF big bloom worked well too but I read all these are engineered to go with the other parts of the system like FF uses gro and bloom together with the Big Bloom I don't know whats left out if you just use the one part.

Good morning pop_rocks.

I fully agree that a name is just that and trying to keep up with strain of the week is not the way to go. Pick a flavor profile you like and try to find that, possibly finding other good things that you didn't know you liked in the process.

I'm pretty sure that I'm finding that these plants arnt going to be what I'm looking for. What I really am unsure about is how much better they could have been. I didn't do the best job ever with them but I also don't think I did so poorly that I would have completely ruined the flavor. I'm thinking that I've just got some 'cardboard phenos' here and just need to move on. I think your right a lot goes into the final product and that mistakes were made. It seems like they were loosing some scent the last couple weeks that they grew. The dry was pretty quick at 3-1/2 days. Far from ideal but shouldn't be enough to make them so lacking in scent and flavor.

Hahah old and stoned is how I like it pops. I have a bunch of loose buds now that will be perfict for rolling joints and I have a nice big hash ball to put in them. I also have a lot more trim and larf to make more hash from. Soon I'll be staring at the wall with a joint burning out in my hand too.

Good morning handyandy.

That pic looks good to me. Looks like trichomes but if it's on a fan in veg I'm not sure. How much magnification is that? I've never looked at plants under more than a 30x scope.

You say you treated with neem and aloe 5 days ago was that preventative or were you trying to target something.

Sorry I'm not more help but I don't see anything that I'm fimillar with. I'm glad to give my opinion but take it with a grain of salt since I'm not a good grower and taking my advise is like getting directions from a blind person LOL.

EJ makes great products I wish I had the microbes to use it. If Slo uses that micropack it is probably just as good if not better than EJ. I think with the FF and other 3 part ferts the BB is the micros and the other 2 parts are the major providers of your N-P-K. Just using BB on non amended soil would result in deficiencies of your macro nutes.

Hey Fiddy
Don't give up on the buds too soon. that sweat cure will work and they will be better

Thanks for the positive thoughts and advise Rodehazrd. I'm going to give them planty of time in the jars to come around. I want to give the other plants an other week and then give them the chop and see what's up with them, maybe I'll be suprised. There is nothing bad about these plants just not what I'm trying to find. I'll keep the moms around for a few weeks just in case they do a 180 and impress me.
