Just have a look at the stuff you scratch out of your pipe / bong / bowl or wherever
most of it is basically tar ...
it gets in your mouth, your throat, your lungs. And it will remain there for a while ... irritating the fuck out of the surrounding tissue
do that on daily basis, and whatever it is you're smoking ... cancer risk increases. I am well aware that tobacco (esp industrial tobacoo & cigarettes) are way more carcinogenic than weed, but residue from combustion will always be bad news, dependin on how much you put inside you how often.
I switched from smoking to vaping a year ago, and I still smoke a pipe or roll one up from time to time (mainly when I am somewhere my vape isn't). Yes, the high is different, and yes, it's not that instantaneous rush you're probably used to from smoking ... but I'd rather inhale as little carcinogens as possible, so I limit the amount of weed I smoke and still get high from vaping. There's not even a question for me.
