Derailed Blues: a Comparison, In North America

What a thoughtful gift, perfect for keeping cutting at the right humidity levels for that critical first week.

I will be doing a Derailed Blues transplant today, they have recovered nicely after the transplant into fresh soil.

The cloning chamber is working out better than expected. I'm used to a little wilting, and normally trim down the larger fans to promote root growth instead of upper plant growth. They seem to be very healthy ,happy and wilt free so far.
I guess I'm going to have to kiss the old ball and chain!

My DB's are starting to send up the secondary branches to replace the missing tips. Two things I'll note here are: The stem turned dark purple a day after the topping. That's new for me.

I mentioned this earlier but the lower leaves started out fat and wide, the new growth near the top has narrower leaves. The tips I cut for cloning have very narrow leaves and 11 leaves on eack palm. I'm hoping to get a 13 leaf palm before summer over...I have an idea for a new avatar.

Enjoy

is that a clear beer cup?
roots do not like light

Actually they are 20 oz paint cups.

Normally I would agree that the clear containers aren't the best choice but, the're not going to be in the cups long enough to make a difference.

Plants are looking great, hard to belive mine germinated at the same time. Sour soil and seedlings are not a good mix.

They finally got a tranplant into 6" planters. The LUI f2 got that transplant two weeks ago and it look good now. Got them basking in the morning Sun and they spend the night in the heated shed with veg lighting hours.

I finally coaxed my 3rd LUI seed to germ, that makes 3/3. 14 days is a new record for me. I wonder if splitting the seed will affect the growth.

Mt DB's are starting to show sex. As of today, I have 1 male and 3 females. I have achieved a 50/50 ratio have still have two plants that haven't shown flowers.

It's intersting to note that the plant structure is noticably differnent between plants treated exactly the same. The male strcuture is much more open, and has strteched quite a bit more than the bushier more compact female.

It's always nice to discover the first pre-flowers. Although I hate to see the males go into the compost pile, I could use the extra space to clone some female cuttings.

And a couple of pre-flower pics for the curious.

Enjoy

I knew it was just a matter of time before ND started to rub it in.

I topped my DB's to promote some secondary growth and cut some clones, but I know for sure I have at least 3 tip-top clones, that will be my competition plants.

When those gals hit that river bottom soil and that midwestern sun, we'll see whose giggling ND....did I mention the 190 day growing season?

A million years of decaying fish, and duck guano has to give me a little edge. :woohoo:

I am pleased to report my DB's are recovering nicely, they are showing some new growth again. They seem to like the new soil and the Spring Sunshine, a lot.

No picture updates, they need more time to fill out. Sexing will begin in mid April.

mmm... rotting fish and guano...

Good job hilljack, were looking forward to seeing your progress.

Two weeks after a repot and some more clone cutting, my DB's have filled the new pots/cups.

I have no choice but to move up to 6 inch pots. I hate the inefficiency of the round pots and the wasted space. It's time to find some square pots, or look into having some made.

They make them for seed starting.....someone has to be manufacturing some larger ones.

Everybody gets a new container this weekend.....I need to stop at the nursery and pick up more soil.

No signs of sex from the last two DB's yet.....could it be the trainwreck pheno holding them back???

Updated pics soon.

Here they are, glad to have some room for their roots.

Getting to be a frequent flyer at the garden center, eh Capt'. Have you considered grow bags? They pack together nicely and are easy to transport, if you let them dry up first.

I wish I was getting bonus points for the cash I've been dropping at the GC.

I always forget to look for grow bags once I get in the doors...

You know how it is.....once inside the garden Center, and I'm like a kid in a candy store.

One of these days, I'm actually going to walk out of there with, what I went in for!

They look great stoner!

enjoy!

People become hooked on it like a hard drug. Old school California taste. Dense rock hard nuggets. Next to no leaf .Light green with small calyxes. Thin stem, small buds. Legend has it it was started in the early 80’s by a couple of brothers in San Diego. Mexican X Columbian, with a hint of Afghani.
After 10 or 12 years, somehow a clone was let out, and the madness has started. It has thrived and been mastered in Humboldt County for 12-14 years. This is unbelievable pot.

The fast and fruity indica from North America. Amazing blueberry smell when finished properly!
