Derailed Blues: a Comparison, In North America

All we can do is hope, the next advocate/lawmaker doesn't slip through the cracks, and escape our worthy cause!

My DB is another week older and filling in nicely. Earlier in the grow I thought I had a couple different phenos.

This week, all the plants seem to have similiar characteristics, with the exception of two, which have developed 7 leaves at the third node. The remaing 4 plants have 3 leaves at the third node.

Anyone want to speculate?

All the stems have finally changed from dark red/purple to green. I'm not complaining as everyone seems happy and healthy.

50 watts of compact fluoros seems to be more than enough at this stage.

Thanks ixnay, We're waiting for an update from stoner. I'm guessing stoner doesn't want to post pics of his DB, so He doesn't embarass me and my tiny seedlings.

As if... my seedlings are not thriving. They just got a transplant in fresh new soil, hope that helps them recover.

I've been recycling my potting soil but, I usually mix it 50/50 with fresh soil, I have never had any problems.

The outdoor flower beds usually get a topping of worm castings, Canadian sphagnum and some dolomite before they get tilled in the fall

stoner, your comments make me wonder if I wouldn't be better off using fresh stuff everytime.

My guerilla grows just get a good tilling after the spring floods. Mother Natures recycling plan!

Seedling get preferred treatment, from now on, nothing but the best. After all, they don't use a lot.

I have a couple of convenient disposal sites, the annual flowers get some and the tomato bed gets the rest. Of course, that is tilled into the bed with a generous helping of compost.

Being set back a couple of weeks is not a problem, actually I was more concerned with outgrowing the limited space they have available. 1.5 sq/ft in the tub. If they recover now, I will still have to train them into the space before I can move outdoors in April.

My tomatos love the recycled soil. Of course the healthy doses of MG All Purpose help alot.

I'm opting for the top and train method to keep my plants in side thier limited space. The cuttings will be turned into clones, providing a few females show.

Wed is plant maintenance night so I'll update some pics tonight.

Another week of vegging has past, so we're due for an update. I'm starting to notice some stretch due to the use of fluoros.

I'm used to using low wattage HID lamps for vegging, so this presents a new problem for my limited space. It hasn't gotten out of control yet, but I see difficulties ahead.

I would rather not bring ballasted lamps into the house, so I am considering adding a couple more compact CFL's. I don't use fans because I feel they make humidity control an issue.

Depending how much larger they get I may force flowering a little earlier. My anticipation of having more than one pheno has faded, but there is still a chance that could change, along with the lighting schedule.

I think I may be catching up to ND in leaf mass. It's just my nodes are a little closer.

I really think starting the cotyledons above the soill surface after germination, saved me a little time coming out of the dirt.

As promised, a couple of DB pics. All six seem healthy and happy.

Looking really good. :D

I have noted fresh new growth taking place, the transplant is working.

Outgrowing the lights is always a challenge. You have 6 plants growing in 8"x12" or 96 square inches. That only leaves 16 sq" per plant. Good luck with the next node. ;)

Stay on your on my side....

Stop touching me....

Nothing another light and a bit more space can't deal with.

Glad to see the soil swap worked out.

It's time to get creative with space and, funny you should mention the next node....it has nine leaves at the fourth node! I'm not used to this much fan leaf, this early.

Do you remember if you had nine leaf fans this early in last season grow?

Topping at this point, will solve my height problem, but will create a width problem.

I believe I am going to gain new respect to the indoor growers! :chin:

27 days from germination and the lower leaves are showing signs of yellowing.

They have outgrown thier 3 inch pots, and need more root space. Tonights project will include a re-pot and a higher precentage of diluted nutes.

After a few days of adjustment these plants will be sexed. It's time to play the percentage game and see how many are females.

The minor leaf curl and the brown tips are a result of growing into the lamps.

Just when you think you have a plan, it goes down the toilet!

My home improvement store is out of 6 inch pots and the DB's are screaming for more leg room. I'm sure, my procrastination is not to blameso, I'll be using some larger 20 oz party cups for the next up-potting. :chin:

The DB are stretching and need to be topped soon, but look healthy. The yellowing is normal for plants with cramped roots.

It looks like I'm forced to put down the pipe, get out of my chair, and take action. I'd take one more toke if I could find my lighter! :pointlaug

I'll load my updates on Monday. The DB is stinking the place up. I'm relieved I don't have to deal with this odor indoors.

I have noticed that three of my DB appear to be developing narrow leaves.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I may have 3 of each pheno.

looking good ND!

I finally got my DB transpalnted and topped.

The root system didn't look as bad as I suspected, but wasn't good. They were jammed in there pretty tight. I was concerned that they has brown tint, indicating they were becoming unhealthy.

The transplant was well overdue but, they should be fine.

They were also topped and the tips dipped in cloning powdwer and placed in peat disces.. This is a different technique than I usually use. I'm curious to see what my sucess rate will be.

The old ball and chain bought me a seed germing kit for a special occassion.
Never look a gift horse in the mouth, I say!....So we'll see what happens.

ND, glad to see ya, got the PM. As with tomatoes I've had good luck lightly scoreing a slightly rootbound transplant, and burying part of the stem, even in field/forrest soil it seem to help them take off quicker. Looking great gentlemen!!!
