polyfill from a clean pillow stuffed into a can with holes punched in the end would make a good filter imo... works for growing mushrooms. that really need sterile environments .....
could be taped to a homeade mask of any material, a diving mask with a cut off nose, etc. food for thought if you need something. research it, but i figure if you get a secure fit around your face you have a chance. and wash everything well when back in secure area..... plenty of pillows around so check on this...

VENTILATOR FIASCO!!!!

Published March 29, 2020
Updated March 31, 2020, 6:29 a.m. ET
Thirteen years ago, a group of U.S. public health officials came up with a plan to address what they regarded as one of the medical system’s crucial vulnerabilities: a shortage of ventilators.

The breathing-assistance machines tended to be bulky, expensive and limited in number. The plan was to build a large fleet of inexpensive portable devices to deploy in a flu pandemic or another crisis.

Money was budgeted. A federal contract was signed. Work got underway.

And then things suddenly veered off course. A multibillion-dollar maker of medical devices bought the small California company that had been hired to design the new machines. The project ultimately produced zero ventilators.

That failure delayed the development of an affordable ventilator by at least half a decade, depriving hospitals, states and the federal government of the ability to stock up. The federal government started over with another company in 2014, whose ventilator was approved only last year and whose products have not yet been delivered

Sounds like ozone generators will kill covid in an environment. Seems like an easy way to disinfect groceries and packages. And I own one. I also have one that will ozoneate water. If so, would there be a benefit to using a neti pot with ozone water after going to a store or being around people?

Little bit of peroxide with some boiled water in the neti pot will take out most sinus infections quick.

Already released another more deadly virus

Man With Hantavirus Just Died On A Bus In China

A male passenger from Yunnan province, China, died of a completely different sickness than COVID-19 while riding a bus headed to work in Shandong province. The strand he contracted – called hantavirus – is much more deadly than COVID-19. It often produces very similar symptoms; therefore, it can be mistaken.

The state-run media channel Global Times wrote in a tweet:

He was tested positive for #hantavirus. The other 32 people on the bus were tested.
Just as China started lifting strict quarantine restrictions from COVID-19, this story sparked new panic among many on social media. However, experts want people to understand that this is not a new virus! It has been around for decades and rarely affects humans.

MORE FAKE NEWS!

But scientists have been quick to stress hantavirus is not a new illness and is rarely caught by humans, unlike coronavirus which has proven to he highly contagious. All other passengers on the bus tested negative for Covid-19 and are awaiting their results for hantavirus, Ningshan county government said.

A 13 year old boy with no underlying health conditions is the UK's youngest person to die from this chirus. 10 times the number of people to recover in the UK have died. Yet the death rate is still calculated as death over infections rather than death over recovered. And a lot aren't being counted anyway.
People are still going to see friends. The biggest problem groups are the under 30s and over 60s, neither of whom seem to be taking it seriously around here.

The virus will die soon if they cannot find a body to board.
Leaving the package out of home for a few hours or spraying some medicinal alcohol can make it more safe.

seeing an interesting news item out of Iceland
they are claiming that 50% of their positive covid tests are completely asymptomatic
this has been noted in other places but not such a high asymptomatic rate
very disturbing if true, only massive testing could dig down to the true numbers

Coronavirus: Iceland’s mass testing finds half of carriers show no symptoms

Unlike other countries, where people are only tested if they exhibit symptons of coronavirus or have come into contact with known spreaders, the country is testing thousands of people from the general population who don’t exhibit any symptoms of the virus whatsoever – helping to reveal information about the nature of the pathogen and its symptoms.

While Iceland has only 218 confirmed cases among its tiny population, its testing program has produced crucial data about the coronavirus - that half of those who were tested positive have no coronavirus symptoms.

This confirms multiple pieces of scientific research that have shown that coronavirus is spread more through people with the virus who show no sign of being sick. Researchers from The University of Texas at Austin had found out that more than 10 percent of patients were infected by somebody who has the virus but does not yet have symptoms.

“Early results from deCode Genetics indicate that a low proportion of the general population has contracted the virus and that about half of those who tested positive are non-symptomatic,” Thorolfur Guðnason, Iceland’s chief epidemiologist, was quoted as saying BuzzFeed News. “The other half displays very moderate cold-like symptoms.”

viruses aren't actually living things.

they share something with Cannabis seeds, they can be described as being viable.

it's kind of like a piece of dust that can make your life hell by turning your cells into dust factories.

How China censored their social media to hide the outbreak of the virus.

China has probably been incinerating thousands of Corona cadavers for months, under the cover of darkness, while the Chinese leadership proclaims its usual "great victory" in stopping the disease that originated in the infamous Chinese "wet markets" where endangered animals are kept in tiny cages for sale to eat.

I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if it turned out that a couple of million Chinese stiffs have been processed secretly, so as not to belie the great victory being celebrated there.

Economic Outlook Has Grown Even Darker, Goldman Sachs Says

The economy is expected to shrink at an annualized rate of 34% in the second quarter this year, according to the latest estimate from economists at Goldman Sachs.

The new analysis paints a darker picture of where the economy is headed than even the notably pessimistic report from Goldman released less than two weeks ago, which predicted a 24% decline in GDP on an annualized basis in the second quarter. Goldman says that the "sky-high jobless claims numbers" along with anecdotal evidence of weakness led to the most recent revision.

The economists expect GDP to shrink 9% on an annualized basis in the first quarter, worse than the 6% decline they predicted in the previous report. As this CNBC chart makes clear, that would mean that the first two quarters of 2020 would be the worst for GDP growth since 1948 by a considerable margin.
