Coronavirus.. outlook

There has been a lot of talk in the media that this disease is being blown out of proportion. Let’s remember that World leaders are almost exclusively old men.

So what demographic is most at risk from this disease... mmmmm.

The new mantra is "Don't test, don't tell".

A 'stoner wrote: "Surgeon General out with tweets this morning - says they are not testing in Seattle because the virus is already endemic. 2 days ago they weren't testing because it was unnecessary. If it is endemic then where is the quarantine and travel restrictions for Seattle?".

Mr. Swazi, the articles I have read state it is a very aggressive weed, the last thing we need around here, but it may already be growing in the wild. Since you are growing it, is the spreading as bad as they make it out to be? If this stuff works, I could see that leaf being part of a good "CBD" store's wares. Certainly mine.

As for saunas and aroma, as a kid we lived in a neighborhood that had a community pool. There were saunas in the men's locker-room. Being kids, we thought it was fun to piss on the hot rocks when we were done with our sauna.

Yeah, I've been an asshole my whole life.

Gubment propaganda funded by big pharma my friend. next they will be trying to tell you that it has no accepted medicinal value even though been used for hundreds of years (sound familiar?)

It is absolutely no more aggressive than any other weed and best of all lends itself very well to container growing . I'm convinced it and other herbs including cannabis is why I have outlived the due date the doctors gave me years ago.

That sauna pissing is all fun and games til someone gets hurt crossing swords
heard it from a friend

Live updates: U.S. death toll rises to 19; New York reports 21 additional cases; Italy’s numbers spike
within.

1. Cases outside China continue to grow
About 80,700 people in China have been infected with coronavirus since its emergence in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, in December.

But there have also been 18,000 cases outside China, according to World Health Organization (WHO) figures.

South Korea, Italy and Iran have been worst affected, with more than 6,200 cases in South Korea, almost 4,000 in Italy and more than 3,500 in Iran.

However, infectious disease specialists at Imperial College London estimate about two thirds of cases originating in mainland China remain undetected worldwide.

This could mean "multiple chains of as yet undetected human-to-human transmission" internationally, they say.

Numbers across Europe have been increasing over the last few days, jumping in Italy, France, Germany, and the UK.

In response, governments have stepped up measures to try to halt the virus's spread, with Italy closing all schools and universities until 15 March.

Yeah, but we were free range kids back in the 60's. Hell that pool was several miles away from the house, and we would go every day in the summer. Beach Boys for a nickel or dime on the jukebox. Life was fun, and maybe some of us got carried away.

I have the tractor out today with a tiller on back. Improving the soil in the garden and working up another spot. I might try one of those plants if I can find seeds.

Something to do on the staycation of isolation.

saw 2 articles about the curve fitting they did to determine the growth rate of C-virus cases & casualties, outside of China.

doubling every 6 days, vs. increasing 10 fold every 19 days.

seems like the US went from 2 casualties to 17 in the space of 3 weeks, which would be like doubling every 7 days. (2/4/8/16)

there were no casualties outside the US the week of January 27 to 31. then soon there were 2, and now after 5 weeks, it's 488. so that's doubling faster than every 7 days.

from
https://covid19info.live/

anyway that's the way exponential curves work, and the reason the Italians invented the quarantine in 1350 AD.

quarantine, ancient Italian for "40 days".

watching Trump so ignorant of History, bragging about what a great job he's done managing the C-Virus ... GOD ALMIGHTY, it's like watching a guy with an IQ of 20 - manage the American response to C-Virus.

for 330 million people.

CHINA STRONG - seems like China has managed to reduce the growth rate & spread of the Virus. of course, that might have something to do with everybody in the country getting infected, it's got to slow down sometime.

Police-enforced quarantine hits Calif. residential block after man’s coronavirus death

https://www.wibw.com/content/news/-...-after-mans-coronavirus-death--568561901.html

The way the popo has been militarized, and staffed with ex-soldiers, is scary. They wear .mil gear, drive around in their Bearcats which are fiddy cal API resistant for multiple shots in the same area, and have that them-vs-us attitude.

So that Friday after the Boston marathon when the kid brother was thought to be in a particular neighborhood...

The 4th amendment was tossed out by some panicked bureaucrat. They did a forcible house to house search. I might have gotten shot that day telling them to F themselves and they aren't coming in.

But I don't live in a city. Still, the cops have changed a little since Andy wore his star.

For those outside of WA? Kirkland isn't a Star Trek amusement park, it's over some water from Seattle.

Staff common to both springs to mind. A service contractor perhaps. They will figure it out.

Interesting read on that mullein weed.

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/pca.2788

More than 50 secondary bioactive metabolites belonging to various classes (iridoids, phenylethanoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids) were detected in the methanolic extract of V. ovalifolium and its fractions. It was suggested that this species might serve as an attractive source of antioxidant phytochemicals, based on the fact that CME and its fractions showed good free radical scavenging and ferric ion reducing properties correlated with phenolic, flavonoid, chlorogenic acid and verbascoside contents. Moreover, a 24 h treatment of SK‐MEL‐2 cells with V. ovalifolium extracts produced significant changes in terms of tumour cell viability. These results, together with the lack of cytogenotoxic effects in non‐tumour cells, reinforce the idea that V. ovalifolium could be exploited in novel herbal medicinal or pharmaceutical products maintaining normal health status and preventing various chronic pathologies. Further in vitro and in vivo studies are needed to confirm these assumptions, as well as to reveal other potential bioactivities.

Lots of rumbling about test kits. Why.... when there is no treatment?

How come the Pope doesn't heal everyone?

How come the Pope doesn't heal everyone?

Pastor Jim Bakker beat The Pope to it, and got his product to the market faster. Until the feds stepped in to issue a cease and desist order, our man Jim was selling fake Corona virus "prayer cure kits" to his teeming online punters, at $125 a pop.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...r-stop-selling-fake-125-Coronavirus-cure.html

Too bad about the pesky considerations of legality and consumer protection. Now that I think of it, wasn't it Jim Bakker that got caught humping his church secretary some decades ago ?

If memory serves me right, old Jim Bakker claimed at the time that he was merely "anointing", "laying on hands", and "speaking in tongues" with his nubile and busty church secretary, though his fat, gaudily made-up wife Tammy-Fae Bakker, evidently disagreed with those explanations, and subsequently filed for divorce when Jim's flock-fleecing fortunes took a nose-dive due to all that bad press.

Oh how I pine for the days of yore, when the Corona virus was merely a sparkle in the eye of a gentleman who was about to devour an endangered pangolin, bedroom tackle and all, washed down by a shot of vintage bear bile, garnished with a light sprinkling of powdered tiger bone for good measure.
