Now that the virus has been allowed to spread in the US, it has access to most of the 330 million Americans with cells that it can use to reproduce.

If you follow the more conservative, double every 7 days, curve (more conservative than double every 6 days, or increase 10 fold every 19 days, which are the 2 curve-fit's that I've seen)

then the death toll reaches 1 million around June 13. At that point it has been doubling every week since about Feb. 14.

Maybe they could call it the Valentine's Virus, that's when the US had the first casualties.

On Saturday night news broke of the first confirmed coronavirus case in St. Louis and Missouri. A 20-year-old woman who was studying in Italy tested positive at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

The woman in her 20’s was released from the hospital and told to self-quarantine along with her parents at their home in Ladue. But the family did not quarantine.

The family of Missouri’s first coronavirus patient broke curfew hours later to attend the father-daughter dance at Villa Duchesne on Saturday night.The father and daughter also attended a preparty at the home of a fellow student.

Is it possible to prevent the spread without an immediate travel ban across the world, back in December?

How long does it take when a new virus is discovered to identify it and develop an effective test and treatment?

If a new virus is highly contagious is possible to contain it, given the delay between discovery and testing/treatment?

Should we stop everything to quarantine and test for the next 2 weeks or just keep going and see what happens?

The number should be lower than 80000+ if there is no chinese new year holidays. Many people go home from wuhan for holidays. It is one of the reasons that the number increased a lot in a short time.
