Give ole Jim Bakker credit... he was hawking his silver on the Feb 12th show. That would have been a good time for the various .guvs and the people to be paying attention. Feb 12th was a great day to short cruise lines cause people were totally oblivious to the threat.

In stawks there is a saying... "Being right but early, is the same as being wrong".

I say with WuFlu, being right AND early was the ticket. Avoiding contact is the key to this, and America is not even there yet. For me the second pillar is boosting my fortress defenses against the virus, and I am supplementing my diet accordingly.

Go on out and stock up on supplies at Costco today LOL.

—Grand Princess cruise ship, holding 3,500 people with 21 who have tested positive for the coronavirus, will dock off Oakland, California, Monday (March 9).

—Italy's Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte announced Sunday (March 9) a lockdown of some 16 million residents in the northern part of the country.

—1st coronavirus deaths on U.S. East Coast, reported in Florida.

—At least 437 confirmed cases in the U.S., with 86 of those in Washington state and 79 in California.

—The South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. The event, which was to take place March 13–22, typically attracts hundreds of thousands of people.

—The University of Washington in Seattle has become the first U.S. college to cancel in-person classes due to coronavirus.

—WHO director-general calls on countries to take the outbreaks seriously and that "this is not a time for excuses."

—There are 107,485 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, with more cases popping up outside China than inside.

—The U.S. has approved $8.3 billion in emergency funding for the country's coronavirus response.

—3,648 deaths have been linked to the virus. Deaths worldwide exceed those from SARS. And 60,637 individuals have recovered from COVID-19.

seems like the US went from 2 casualties to 17 in the space of 3 weeks, which would be like doubling every 7 days. (2/4/8/16)

there were no casualties outside the US the week of January 27 to 31. then soon there were 2, and now after 5 weeks, it's 488. so that's doubling faster than every 7 days.

CHINA STRONG - seems like China has managed to reduce the growth rate & spread of the Virus. of course, that might have something to do with everybody in the country getting infected, it's got to slow down sometime.

Unfortunately, the US numbers are completely worthless, as we are currently doing minimal testing(thanks to the incompetence of the current administration).

two days ago, Wash. state was not doing testing in Seattle area. now, governor says it is not needed because it is endemic. the nursing home where most deaths occurred has had 70 staff test positive. this morning, feds said it had been confirmed in 30 states. this afternoon, news says 32. any bets on how long to 50? i give it two weeks & i may be off by a week or ten days...long. but there is no reason to worry, trump has Pence looking out for us...:moon:

True. Though I think they are counting the C-virus deaths accurately.

Closest one can get with the Don't test don't tell Trump admin ... divide the US death count by the case fatality rate, so 20 / .034 ~ 588 cases.

Though my guess is the US has more cases than Italy, South Korea, Iran, France, and Germany combined.

Heres the scenario a Biological warfare agent is released it effects all but only certain groups succumb to it elderly ,sick people, and in close quarters, inmates ,nursing homes hospitals Targeting respiratory system so smokers ,asthmatics and others will succumb.
What a great way to clear the decks for the new world order .

President Trump is blaming former President Barack Obama for a slow start to COVID-19 coronavirus testing — and hailing himself for casting aside an “Obama rule” to speed testing for the virus.

Trump said it was Obama’s fault amid criticism of the slow US testing rollout compared to other countries. He said he fixed the problem.

“That was a very big move,” Trump said during a Wednesday meeting with airline executives. “It was something we had to do and we did it very quickly. And now we have tremendous flexibility, many many more sites, many many more people, and you couldn’t have had that under the Obama rule and we ended that rule very quickly.”

Trump is SUCH AN ASSHOLE.

Now that the virus has been allowed to spread in the US, it has access to most of the 330 million Americans with cells that it can use to reproduce.

If you follow the more conservative, double every 7 days, curve (more conservative than double every 6 days, or increase 10 fold every 19 days, which are the 2 curve-fit's that I've seen)

then the death toll reaches 1 million around June 13. At that point it has been doubling every week since about Feb. 14.

Maybe they could call it the Valentine's Virus, that's when the US had the first casualties.

Like that old fable about the grain of rice that doubles every day.

geometric progression is like a fvcking Tidal Wave when it occurs in an immunologically <something> population (like the US). I forget what the correct science word is there, in a new virus with no resistance/ antibodies in the population.

I don't know if people in the Stock Trading thread want to talk about Corona Virus.

But it's hard to see the equity markets doing anything but go down, as long as the US death count from the C-Virus is on an exponential/geometric path. Wait till June and US stocks will be positively on sale.

I did see that Democrats didn't want flights from China shut down. They said it was unfair to Chinese, and showed tRump was a bigot. I was disappointed with tRump when he went against their recomendations and stopped flights. He is such a jerk
