One of the largest pork processing facilities in the US is closing until further notice.

That's 4-5% of your protein supply folk. It can get ugly quick.

I just watched bacon at Costco drop from $14 and change for a (4) 1-lb. package, down to $10 and change for the same (4-lb.) packages in the last couple visits. I'm guessing that trend is about to reverse...

I need to replace my crystal ball... soon.

On the bright side, there's plenty of grey jays and ravens in my 'hood... And the odd grouse, of various species.

Edit: I've had a cross fox digging for voles and eating black oily sunflower seeds from under my bird feeder lately. I've never eaten fox, but..... And I have been told lynx is tasty, too.

I just brought the bird feed dishes indoors because I realize I'm feeding the local rat populations and the 2 lazy cats are not doing the job.

I try to encourage the Quail as much as possible.

I have a problem with plastic tarps that got out of control and broke into a million pieces. I pick up the big pieces and throw them in the bin.

But the little pieces, best I can do is rake them along with blackberry stems into a pile and burn them.

Just now when i went outside the male quails were all standing around the smoking blackberry stem, with a smidge of plastic, pile.

As if they like smoke or something. Never seen that before. Normally they are hanging around the bird feed dishes.

A new case of Ebola virus disease was confirmed today in the city of Beni in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

“While not welcome news, this is an event we anticipated. We kept response teams in Beni and other high risk areas for precisely this reason,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General.

Like other Filoviruses, Ebola is an enveloped, non-segmented, negative-stranded RNA virus. Ebola virus particles have at their core a viral nucleocapsid composed of a helical single stranded RNA genome wrapped around viral proteins NP, VP35, VP30, and L.

I still have a frozen headless BIG white bird in the fridge.

A pet that some unknown predator chewed the head off of.

10+ pounds of chicken, turkey sized.

i feel strange about eating a pet, but it's been frozen since the day she died.

anybody want it ? i'll try and post a picture.

time to re-think some personal habits.

Yes, even THAT ONE.

we know this little devil likes mucus membranes.

Well, that dried mucus in your nose - mucus secreted by the mucus membrane in your nose.

You know, the stuff that men are so good at mining, much to the disgust of their women folk, who NEVER EVER EVER pick their nose.

Long story short, you do not want to have UN-PROTECTED SEX with the Coronavirus.

When you peel back the dried mucus on the mucus membrane in your nose, you expose living cells to Mr. Covid19.

Mr. Covid19 can sit and rest on dried mucus - but he can not use dried mucus to duplicate. He needs living cells for that.

STOP PICKING YOUR NOSE, STONER.

You'll live longer.

I hope that the ebola outbreak in DRCONGO gets under control...it is also an RNA virus.

Weren't they something like one or two days away from calling it over with when the guy came in from the bush with it?
