Judge tosses Colorado consumer lawsuit filed over pesticides on pot

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2...tosses-consumer-lawsuit-filed-over-pesticides

So, to be clear... the bigger players in the cannabis industry wont be held responsible for health and safety.... they can just use a known carcinogen freely and without repercussions.

meanwhile.... wherever unpasteurized milk is drank....

Did you think it would be different?

Rhetoric...regulations kill jobs
Fact...big companies write regulations for competetive advantage

All most dispensaries care about is profit, a little Eagle 20 won't kill you!!!!! This is why we all grow our own. Do dispensary owners smoke the product they sell?
:moon:

a little might not cause immediate permanent damage, but how about repetitive daily consumption? This case should have been a no-brainer, but, that would cause a legal precedent that producers of tainted product are responsible for financial damages to consumers simply for producing that tainted product. As far as Eagle 20, the science is only halfway there, but it isnt looking good... I wouldnt want anything with that in it. Nobody can prove it even remotely safe, the opposite in fact... what little data there is on combustion and inhalation as opposed to consuming it as an edible residual is showing it to be horrible.

I. The human health effects from the combustion and inhalation of myclobutanil have not been evaluated
Tolerance levels and toxicity studies for myclobutanil on edible products should not be used for evaluating the safety of myclobutanil on marijuana. Passage of pesticides into the bloodstream varies considerably between inhalation and ingestion routes of exposure, and the application of high temperature is known to alter the chemical composition of myclobutanil.

II. Inhalation of pyrolized myclobutanil residue could expose cannabis users to hydrogen cyanide
As noted on the Eagle 20 material safety data sheet(3), myclobutanil is stable at room temperature, but releases highly toxic gas if heated past its boiling point of 205°C (401°F) (3, 9). Disposable butane lighters, commonly used to ignite marijuana during consumption, produce temperatures in excess of 450°C.

III. Myclobutanil is co-extracted with cannabinoids during concentrate production
Studies of two other conazole fungicides, tebuconazole and propiconazole, have demonstrated that these chemicals are co-extracted during production of essential oils (14). Moreover, the process of extraction, treatment, and concentration can cause tebuconazole and propiconazole pesticide residue to accumulate at levels 250 times higher than the starting material (14). Myclobutanil is highly soluble in many of the solvents used in cannabinoid extraction (ex. ethanol, butane, and carbon dioxide)(15,16), and unquestionably co-extracts with cannabinoids during concentrate production. The process of removing residual solvent and increasing cannabinoid concentration very likely increases levels of myclobutanil, and other chemically-similar pesticides.

Emergency Response Safety and Health Database
HYDROGEN CYANIDE (AC) : Systemic Agent
http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/ershdb/emergencyresponsecard_29750038.html

Hydrogen cyanide (AC) is a systemic chemical asphyxiant. It interferes with the normal use of oxygen by nearly every organ of the body. Exposure to hydrogen cyanide (AC) can be rapidly fatal. It has whole-body (systemic) effects, particularly affecting those organ systems most sensitive to low oxygen levels: the central nervous system (brain), the cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels), and the pulmonary system (lungs). Hydrogen cyanide (AC) is a chemical warfare agent (military designation, AC). It is used commercially for fumigation, electroplating, mining, chemical synthesis, and the production of synthetic fibers, plastics, dyes, and pesticides.

this:
Mark your calendars: Next Tuesday, the 17th Senate Business Committee will hear SB16-080. It is at 1:30 in Rm 271. This bill would require patients to build an enclosed and locked grow to be able to grow their medicine if there is anyone under 21 in the house. There is absolutely no reason for this bill. It will criminalize patients and cost patients access to medicine. Please try to be there to testify against this legislation. If you can not make it, please email the committee and ask for a no vote. This is yet another bill brought by law enforcement. We have got to quit legislating to appease law enforcement, in regards to cannabis. They are against anything that is forward progress and they are always looking for ways to get their arrests and money back...If we do not ignore law enforcement's baseless opposition to progress we will continue to be passed up by other legal states...

dont they already have a rule stating that your growspace should be locked and secure if you have children? I have a padlock on my closet door...

I dont think this has anything to do with safety... it sounds to me like they want to slap us with construction permits and building "safety" requirements.

I think it's more of a gotcha for official child welfare bluenoses.

like the quote says it's just a bill put out by law enforcement to basically re-criminalize cannabis use, by threatening what people hold MOST dear - their children

Frost Bowl Trophy

Frost Bowl Trophy

Hey gang, as promised, here's a picture of my trophy. It was created by glass artist extraordinaire Jason Dunks. I've confirmed that the flower that won was indeed the Ghost Train Haze #1. The plaque says Highest CBD/Best Indica Flower because, as explained by Mary Jane's owner, they were assuming an Indica would take the honors. Going to get the plaque replaced to just say Highest CBD, but thought I'd share a pic with my amigos here on IC. Also a few of the winning buds made a cameo.
