Meh. It's one of those technical violations- the inspector just goes by the list. He doesn't necessarily know anything about pesticides.

If the State has published a list of what's acceptable, growers should know that & act accordingly. If they want spinosad to be acceptable, then they need to petition the people who create the list. Given that spinosad is OMRI listed, it should be a slam dunk.

Or not. Goofiness is to be expected at this stage from both growers & the State. These are big boy growers, anyway- if they didn't expect this kind of stuff, they weren't thinking very hard.

Yeah and limit your outdoor plants sun exposure to a couple of hours tops. I hear that they can get sun burn.

Ya and if you smoke sunburnt plants then you will get skin cancer down the road. Best be cautious. These are the things people need to know.

Holy shit! Spinosad is banned for use in cannabis in Denver, but it is approved for organic production on a National level.

Who ever made this call needs to get first place for being the biggest dumb ass. :)

There seems to be a weird agenda. I just haven't found out what it is.

imo
the agenda at this point is to force the federal governments hand in making some regulations concerning cannabis, re-scheduling, or SOMETHING that legitimizes the industries in the states that have cultured them.

While that agenda is unfolding is it better for people to use neem, and spinosad, or for people to sell plants covered in alive/dead bugs?

My essential oils are not "labeled" for use on cannabis, but they sure make my grow mite free.

They need to lay off the koolaid.

im surprised the state is doing anything at all that appears to put the breaks on the industry...

but yes, koolaid, too much....

A friend brought an 1/8 fromlivwell to my place last week
An ingredient read 'm-pede'. We use that stuff in my company for immediate disaster control for spider mites. 1 application once a week for three weeks and you'll never see Another mite ever again. That shit is toxic as Fuck. Several co-workers get rashes if just a few drops get on them. That's livwell for you

Denver Post. Found it on their website

In the story they call it slightly toxic to humans

Oh noes...

how will they protect us from mushrooms or elderberry?

I mean almonds are full of cyanide... and cherry pits are just brimming with hydrogen cyanide! potatoes contain trace amounts of a glycoalkaloid poison... how will we survive?

....dont even get me started on the chemicals in carpets or pressed wood products.... or air fresheners and cleaning solutions for that matter....

Spinosad General Fact Sheet - National Pesticide Information Center

How might I be exposed to spinosad?

People are most commonly exposed to very low levels of spinosad through their diet. Exposure can also occur if you breathe it in or get it on your skin or eyes. For example, this can occur while applying sprays or dusts during windy conditions. This can also happen after using a product if you don’t wash your hands before eating or smoking.
What are some signs and symptoms from a brief exposure to spinosad?

ocularexposure.jpg
Spinosad is low in toxicity to people and other mammals. However, if it gets on your skin or in your eyes it can cause irritation and redness. In one study, 28 dogs were fed low to moderate doses of spinosad. One dog that received a moderate dose vomited. No effects related to spinosad were observed in the other dogs.
Is spinosad likely to contribute to the development of cancer?

No. In multiple studies, animals were fed low to moderate amounts of spinosad in their diet for 1.5 to 2 years. No increased incidence of cancer was observed. Moreover, spinosad has not been found to alter or damage genes. As a result of these experiments, the EPA has classified spinosad as not likely to cause cancer.

They should really worry about Dihydrogen Monoxide.... that shit ought to be banned....
its fuckin everywhere.... and if you breathe in even a tiny amount you will die!

Oh noes...

i get your point but you ought to try breathing through a cocktail stirrer for a night. say hello to athsma. it's like having a bus parked on your neck.

sure society is replete with distended sensitivity but stuff you inhale shouldn't have bullshit in it. if you buy weed to smoke, it should be just weed, especially at bullshit dispensary prices.

the same for growers with pets - you may have no problem with pet hair but it will put some people in the hospital. try smoking a few strands of white animal hair and report back.

so try not to help people think it's no big deal about rashes in your trachea. people need that.

So you're saying you think spinosad should in fact not be allowed?

Yep, this is why I tell people to support small and local growers, avoid brick and mortar shops whenever you can, you'll get better pricing, better product, and your lungs will thank you.

So does any one know of what chemicals/pesticides that the state has deemed off limits for use on cannabis?

Well it is looking like that story in the Denver post was all blown smoke.
