CMH vs LED vs HPS

We can do 3 a year under glass in the UK. The middle grow it's just in the way, and the other two grows need heat and light input.

It is useful where loosing light to gain some heat, improves things. Though the product then won't be great without lighting. So it's not really an option, if you want a proper 'under the sun' grow. Where in general, you want all the sun. Not 70% of it. If you need glass, then you don't have enough sun for our crop. There is no middle ground.

You don't need glass, or you need glass and lights.
In some places you can grow year round under glass as long as you have ac.

Yeah, in space if you really wanted to. The question is viability though. Which can be weighed up purely as personal profit, and generally is. Or you can take the slightly wider view, and look at global security. If the whole planet was your personal farm, where would you grow your green.

Obviously if you don't believe in global warming, or anything else that seems restrictive, the conversation ends here.

My point is the sun can’t be duplicated even outdoors. It’s very location dependent.

Have you even seen glass?
This thread is about the difference between CMH/HPS/LED indoors. Of course, the sun changes by location. Duplicating the sun cant be done anywhere as far as I know. We all grow with what we have. This thread isn't about growing outdoors under the sun in a glass greenhouse or not. Yes, ive seen many setups indoors and outdoors from the 70s on. I grow indoors using CMH/LED.. I can't grow outdoors anymore so it's of no interest.

Ive used every light there is.
All leds arent the same
I use growcraft , love em...samsung 301h diode.
Cmh, nice trich production, i ran phantoms with phillips 3500k, ill add a cmh in during winter , helps with heating grow room...

Hps and mh....been a while, my first love...but at end of day my leds outperform HIDS (GR/WATT) and i dont need run cooling.

Then why even bother. Let's just not use the visible spectrum at all, lest we mock Helios.
LOL, If you don't understand the differences I can't help ya. Im sure there are plenty of books where you could get that knowledge. There are tons of Outdoor threads you can post in.

Growroom Lighting is not the sun lol..

Do you have a light meter? With a bright source at a close distance a couple feet can double the ppfd.

I do not( I should say not an accurate one).. There are multiple lights in the room with CMH. The CMH is aprox 5' away

HID lights generally strobe, as we see taking pictures.
LED lights are much more continuous

Why has it taken me so long to think of this..
