Afropip Durban Poison D Update

Afropip Durban Poison D Update

Well gang, I had a bunch of pictures I was going to use to detail this ladies life from a revegged clone that I took when she was almost 3 months flowering, and work my way up to what she looks like now. Apparently, I must have gotten really really high one night because Ive deleted them from my camera, and they've not been imported into Lightroom 6. Oops. Sorrrrryyyy.

Ill work with the photos I have. Im sure it'll suffice. Ill try to get some nice closeup ones tonight if possible for you all.

This lady DP-D is the sole remaining original seed-plant I have left of the females. Through negligence on my part, and plants failing to reveg, Ive whittled my 7 ladies down to just 1 original seed-plant female. I did cull 2 for seriously bad intersex problems though. Mind you, Ive made seeds with 3 of the original moms, with DP-D getting that treatment this cycle, and the offspring of DP-I(anise-grape), will be dusted with pollen too this cycle. Essentially 5 seedlines from 5 of the best moms to work with using only DP-C male as he's the only one to never show intersex traits. I hope the offspring will take after the Dad. That'll be a serious focus heading forwards in the development of this line. My hopes are on the Anise/Grape(DP-Ib), and Sour Pineapple Punch(DP-D) lines. Sound good right?

I highly recommend everyone make seeds with their favorite plants/lines. Ive lost many lines I wish I could have back. If only I had made seeds then. Its not the end of the world if your mom dies as long as you made seeds. Plus its actually fun to go through a bunch of seeds finding a new mom replacement tbh.

Do I still have your attention after all those words? Good lets continue onwards! Btw this post brought to you by Gypsy Thai-F. Im sampling some buds thats been jar cured for 6 weeks, and it only took a couple of small bowls to feel the effects overcoming me. Without going into detail, its just what I needed right now.

Shew..I think I just spent the last 20 minutes in another world. I had put on some music right as I finished the last paragraph..The music lasts about 20 minutes for all the songs to play. All I remember during that time is puffing on my pipe slowly, and then the last song came on, and I realized the album was ending. What seemed like a few minutes was 20 minutes! I love the time-warping effect of Thai. I would often experience that in Skunkmans HazeSkunk, which is quite enjoyable to say the least. If you've not grown a Thai before, you REALLY need to try it. Its a must grow variety. Put it on your bucket list.

This is what Im looking for in my ladies. I can't wait to sweat-cure some of these Thai buds and see how much better they become afterwards. Thanks again Tang for all the work you've done pioneering it!

Okay gang, Im gonna get to some photos now before I get lost in another world again. Its hard to hang on. The music sound so amazing. Ah I love a good pure sativa.

Here we have our nice healthy rootball waiting to be prepped and transplanted into a 5 gallon container? I think its 5. I went bigger than I ever have before with them. I dont know what everyone rootballs look like, but if you dont have roots right below the surface as seen in this pic, then you need to keep your upper media moister. I never let the upper media dry out. In fact strive to keep your plants at a 'moist' level at all times. Wet/dry cycles are bad. Keeping the media consistently at the right moisture level will give you the best root growth. Tensiometers are a great tool if you need help in that area in determining the right moisture levels, but they're training wheels once you've dong it enough.

Oh fuck, this Thai makes me go on and on when Im here, but when Im in the other world my fingers dont work so well..

The roots are fairly white, but Id like to see them fuzzier in the future. This lady is hand watered btw.

Egads, WTF did you do to that plant Dave!!! Well, let me tell you. I took my palm, rested it up against the side of the rootball, and ran it up and down quickly sloughing off the roots. Bits and pieces of roots littered the floor when I was done. I even got up underneath her butt, and ripped out chunks of roots. I get rough with my girls when I transplant them. Sometimes I even stick my finger in the rootball...

Why do you do this Dave? Not the finger part, but the sloughing part, you pervs! I do this, so that in 2 weeks, my new rootball, will look just as good or even better than the previous rootball we saw above. Within 2-3 days, I had white fuzzy roots poking their heads out of the holes in the bottom, and roots running down the side of the rootball. Watering is Key post transplant too. Dont forget, the old rootball will need water sooner, than the surrounding media after a transplant..There is an intermediary stage of transplant thats easy to fuck up with improper watering. Ive learned that lesson quite a few times lol.

Here we have the base of the plant growing out of the old flowers that I had revegged. The flowers continued for a long time even after the plant had fully revegged. Vegging up top, and flowering down below.

Okay gang, Ive got more pictures to prepare. I dont know if Ill be back with them tonight though!

Thanks Purple. Much obliged! This Afropip Durban P is the only DP line Ive ever grown. After seeing what these seeds produced, I didn't see much need to round up other Durban Poison lines. Not to say I wouldn't look forward to trying out another Durban Poison line someday.

None of my ladies had any Mint smell at all. Ive rarely encountered anything Minty over the years in my garden.

Btw, the seeds have been shipped today to Seedbay. One unlucky person will only get 9 seeds in their package. I had to reopen the seeds to stuff some cotton swabs down into the containers so they wouldn't move around. I lost one seed during that point. A smart forum member suggested it so they dont get damaged, plus I dont want the package to rattle with seeds either.

Some of you will get half of a q-tip instead of the cotton swab. I promise you the q-tip is not used. It actually works much better than the cotton swabs. It keeps them from moving around, and the q-tip is so much easier to get out than the cotton swabs.

Glad you're having a good day pal. Its gonna be a great day when the seeds finally arrive to you all.

The D is something definitely to look forward to. I get drunk on her intoxicating aroma nightly :). I doubt anyone will find anything that smells like her in the seeds that are coming, but still some good plants in those seeds.

While im here atm, lets do a quick update on whats going on.

Big Bertha and her lil sister have both been moved into the drying closet for a few days darkness, and then its the axe. The big sister is developing a few seeds in her main cola now, so its time to go ahead and cut her down before I got alot of seeds to deal with. She still has white pistils aplenty, but the buds are large and chunky enough to harvest I suppose.

The lil sister, looks ripe and done. Calyxes swollen and have turned a light shade of purple. Almost no white hairs visible at this point, and Ive not seen much development over the last week or so, so she's getting the chop too.

The 3rd plant, that comes from the TSA Mom could use just a bit more time. Maybe 2 more weeks before coming down. Get ready for lots of pics of these pretty ladies in the near future.

Ill be using some of the freed up space for some Mr. Nice Shit females Ive had in the waiting. I started my last batch of seeds I had made to try and find one good intersex free lady, or near intersex free. I doubt my odds will be good as most of the shit females carry this problem. Id like to have something with a quicker turnaround, as well as cross DP-C male with a nice Shit female. Recreate the Early Durban variety in my own garden. Maybe Ill get a DP hybrid that flowers in under 90 days!

Well gang thats it for now. Its lunch time now, but Ill be back with more updates in the future!

Good luck with the early durban recreation project and I can't wait to see all pics you put up as you move on from harvesting these plants and moving on to the next round. It's literally going to be the shit :D

Thanks amigo! Its bound to be better than the Seedsman Early Durban I grew out 5 years ago. Pure hot garbage that was. I think the parent stock Im using should produce something more to my liking. If its something good, there could be testers needed in the future for that project.

Pics coming soon. I think tonight I willl go ahead and chop the two DPxThai sisters. Ill make sure to get lots of pics before the deed is done though. Ill attempt a reveg with each one of them. Hopefully they both come through.

Durban Thai Lil Sister Harvest Update Week 14/15

Durban Thai Lil Sister Harvest Update Week 14/15

Its finally harvest time for this lady and her sis Big Bertha. 3.5 months isn't too bad of a flowering time. Im used to 5-6 months, so this is a nice change of pace in my garden.

This lady stayed healthy and green to the very end, with just a touch of leaf tip scorching on the fan leaves. One of the healthiest looking plants at harvest Ive ever had before, but fertility levels were on the high end throughout. Her big sis on the other hand has floppy fan leaves that are yellow with low fertility levels. There's a sweet spot somewhere in the middle there. Ill see if I can dial it in further next time around.

The smaller sister has been kept for a reveg attempt since I never saw a single nanner on her, nor any seeds forming. The big sister, will not be revegged. Loaded with nanners and seeds, so she's bound for cobbing in the near future.

Lets get some pics up of the lil sister now. Ive got more to work through besides these ones, so stay tuned for some more.

Notice the purpling setting in on the upper fan leaves, and the buds are doing the same now after starting out green. If I let her go another week, the buds will be more purple and more fan leaves will be purple, but I dont think id get much more bud development out of her.

Let the progression begin!

Thanks pal. Much love! Im glad you enjoyed them. One of these days, Ill get that macro camera, and do a full progression all the way down to the resin heads if I can.

Thanks a bunch seeded. It takes me probably 2 hours total to snap the pics, then use Lightroom to touch up the raw files, and get them ready to upload. Its not as simple as snapping pics from my phone and uploading, so Im glad its appreciated.

Ill make sure to save some samples from each lady, and hide them away from myself. The buds will not last long around here thats for sure! I live in a non-med/non-rec state, so all we get around here are the imported buds from such states that enjoy that benefit. None of what Ive seen ever matches up to what I can produce, so what I grow goes pretty fast. Of course I save most of it for myself cause im greedy!

Your kind words are appreciated too Buddler. Its good to know the work is appreciated. There's gonna be plenty more hard work in the future, and lots of pretty specimens too!

Im gonna bust out those Big Sis pics after this post. Gonna puff on some Thai, watch some JoshOG on Twitch, and get the next update ready for you all.

Welcome Tempes. Thanks for taking the time to explore the thread and for coming out of your lurking. Im glad you've found it worth your time. :tiphat: My ladies are my babies, so I give them lots of TLC!

It requires tending to them every-day no matter if I feel like it or not! Ive introduced growing to some other people, and I hear "its hard-work." even when they're caring for one plant..lol. Im caring for around 40 plants atm, and I dont feel its enough lulz.. Although I absolutely hate transplanting so frequently for so many plants. My only bane!

Stay tuned for more great pics in the future pal!

I was looking through my camera, and I found two more pics of Lil Sis that I need to share before moving onto big sis, so here they are!

Here is the full plant that I hung up for drying.

And here is whats leftover for revegging. The lowers are very healthy after 14/15 weeks flower, so I hope the process will be easier.

Durban Thai Big Sister Harvest Update Week 14/15

Durban Thai Big Sister Harvest Update Week 14/15

Big Bertha has been harvested, and here are the pics of her. I ended up letting her go too long and I got lots of seeds forming, so she's destined to be turned into lots of cobs. From the looks of her, I should be able to make plenty.
