Durban Thai Big Bertha Week 12/13
Durban Thai Big Bertha Week 12/13
Its been about 3 weeks since we last saw this lady, and she has continued to develop quite nicely. Calyxes are swelling up, pistils browning, but there are still quite a lot of white pistils. At least 50%. Also a shit ton of nanners I haven't seen any dropping any pollen, or any seeds forming yet though, so Ill continue to let her flower in my veg tent. She can't do much damage in there. I can also use the space cleared up for the offspring of DP-I, dubbed DP-Ib. That plant is odd...You'll see soon enough, but this post is about another pretty lady even though she is marred with ugly birthmarks.
Her fan leaves have been showing signs of low fertility over this time period. Id estimate her large lower fan leaves have lost half their chlorophyll pigments. They're also droopy now. Droopy leaves is another sign of low fertility levels. Something to be aware of if you have yellowing and drooping lower leaves in flower.
Happening sooner than Id like as she needs at least 3 more weeks perhaps a month to be ready, but Ive learned its better to manage the low N/fertility levels at this point rather than spike the media and try to correct it quickly. She gets low maintenance feedings of Dynagrow Grow 7-9-5 formula @ 300-350 ppm at this point of her life. PPM levels in the media are typically around 650-800 right now. If it drops too low, Ill begin to have rapid yellowing and leaf abscission, too high and I could risk unwanted reveg growth with sativas. Skunk and indicas can handle higher spikes in fert levels without showing as many negative signs in the buds, but not these ladies. She's leafy enough already, no need to give her more encouragement.
Still though, even marred with the nanners, I believe she's still a looker. Thankfully her sister hasn't sprung a single one, yet that sisters buds are half the size if that, and more delicate.
Her terp profile has morphed over the last 3 weeks too. I can't come up with a description yet, but Ill work on that for ya.
Get your bandwith ready, because I went overboard and snapped alot of pictures. Enjoy!
The main cola is 14 inches long. What a spear!
