Day 61 GN Thai Stick F Update

Day 61 GN Thai Stick F Update

I got a little behind on updates again. I went away for a weekend, and have been playing catchup in the garden since returning Sunday, and I still have plenty of work to do. Urg..At least Ill be harvesting some tops from a couple of my Durban ladies tomorrow night as well as GN TSA @ Day 210! Thats definitely something to look forward to. Expect an update for sure when that happens.

Now back to TSF. This lady has blown up huge 27 Days. She's really taken over her corner of the garden. I can't wait to see the amount of growth/budding in the next months update. At this rate, she may consume her neighbors.

I want to first show you what she looked like about a month ago.

Cute plant, but nothing to get excited about yet*yawn*...then she hit puberty and began to grow up before my very eyes.

Great thread. The Thai looks wonderful.

Much appreciated SS. Lots of love and time has gone into these ladies to keep them happy and healthy. A few hiccups along the first two months, but nothing that has hampered these plants in the slightest.

These Thai are easily the most vigorous plants Ive grown outside of Sam's HazeSkunk. Just imagine the growth I could get in 5 or 10 gallon containers. Id love to grow these outdoors someday. They would be massive. A guy can dream right?

such commitment!

Ive become a more patient man as Ive gotten older and wiser, and discovering mary jane for the second time in my 30's has really helped the patience develop too.

TBH, Im amazed at your guys/gals commitment. Ive no clue how long this thread has been going, but it seems forever and you're all here. I think we've even picked up some more lurkers along the way.

I know you guys are out there watching from the shadows.. :lurk:

For some reason this is actually refreshing.

Honesty, my man. Honesty. Always refreshing. Also rather logical too. I have consumption problems, so I have to speed up that cure... I can't help myself..Im a victim waaaaaaaahhhh.

I can't way to give the cob method a try. Experimenting is so fun. Then I can chronicle my attempt here. Hope not to fuck it up.

Bro that purple plant is just amazing! Props!

Thanks Buddah Watcha. They're the prettiest ladies to grace my garden in a long while. Ive always wanted a deep purple variety, but never wanted to buy any of the obvious choices on the market. I sat on these gems for over 4 years before I realized I already had what I was seeking.

I grew out a few plants from seed I collected in Colombia a couple years back. They were narrow leaved nd lanky, but they were all male. Germed in Feb, and the last one gave up in june. I collected pollen from all three, and recently dusted some revegging Durban clones I've got in the closet, but I must not have collected or stored it well, because I still don't have seeds forming. I'll try again when i flower the Durbans properly. I'll definitely go up to #5s, as they're already in #1, need repotting, and still aren't back to five leaflets. I might put one outside next year in a #35 or something ridiculous like that.
Thanks! Hope i'm not hijacking.

A columbian x durban sound so exotic and enticing. Anything crossed with either of those two lines would be fun and wondrous to grow out. Crossing them together sounds even better. Best of luck on your next pollination attempt. I hope you get all the seeds you want. I need to collect pollen from my Durban male, so I can dust my Thai clones flowering in the next month. At two months, they're not quite ready for making love.

I hope you can contain them in 5 gallon containers. As much as I want to, Im kinda hesitant after seeing how much space they end up taking in 3 gallon containers. They grow big! Better stay away from HPS if you want any chance to keeping em manageable.

Id love to see pics of those plants in 35 gallon containers outdoors. We dont see enough beautiful outdoors pure sativas without Kanga around.

Gonna give you a bump homie, how's the Thai and sexy Durban doin??

Everything is going good in the garden. Thai stick are humming along nicely even though I still can't quite get fertility levels within the desired ranges, but the plants are still growing very well regardless. So many branches, buds, colas, so much growth in the last month. Im really enjoying the show they're giving me, even though its a slow tease.

The Durban help out though. Ive got tops coming down tomorrow night on 2 or 3 of them, then back into the veg tent for the lowers to develop and be harvested with the lowest parts left over for revegging.

That means lots of pics coming of them, so stay tuned. You're gonna love these sexy buds.

Afropips Durban Poison K Day 96 Harvest Update

Well..I had a nice update going, and then tor crashed on me..Grr. Im too tired to try and recreate the update, so Ill keep this as short and sweet as possible for now.

This lady used to be one of the Green phenos around 45-50 days, then slowly began to turn pink as time passed by, and by harvest time, she was/is a full blown purple plant. Very sexy like.

Here she was at Day 44.

Do we have any evidence the Thai stick crops were grown to full maturity ?

Next question , where was it grown ? Local folks in central Thailand have never seen or heard of it !

The brick weed sold in Thailand these days is def picked early . I have expanded a cpl of bricks and was surprised by the immaturity of the flowers . Though still quite resinous .

Thanks for sharin

Well, I wasn't there in Thailand when these seeds were collected, so I really can't answer your question one way or another.

Next question , where was it grown ? Local folks in central Thailand have never seen or heard of it !

According to a post by Dutchgrown, it was grown in the
south region of the Nong Khai Province, or at least where they met farmers and collected/purchased seeds from. If the location is right, then the local folks in central Thailand aren't in the right province to experience these Thai I would think.

Picking crops early seems to be a worldwide problem with many growers. You see it in the brick weed over there, and I see it in the rec/medical weed that makes it into my state in the US, and even that quality of weed is often times weeks immature if not a month most times. So many impatient people out there whacking their beautiful ladies down early.

Afropips Durban Poison I Harvest Update

Afropips Durban Poison I Harvest Update

This lady came down the same night DP-K did, but Im just now getting around to that update. She too started off a normal green budded lady, but as time passed the purple pigments began to spring forth and the buds turned a beautiful shade of deep purple covered in glistening crystals.

I had to remove the upper fan leaves before the shots because they looked awful. Too close to the 600w HPS above them. The lower leaves weren't affected and show the lovely purple pigments that appear late in flowering combined with mid 60' temps at lights off.

Ah Nong Kai ...
Basically the gateway to Laos ... Cross the bridge over the Mekong and your on Laos soil .
I`d say that herb wasn`t grown in Thailand . Much easier to negotiate with the police to grow a crop on the Laos side of the border .

Nong Kai is Nth East Thailand . A region called Isaan . Hasn`t been commercial herb grown out there since Sam blew through in the 70s .

A friends father was employed by the army to eradicate in that region .

I` will do some more investigations re Thai stick . But my buddy who has lived n Thailand 20 + years said he could not find any locals who had heard of let alone seen a Thai stick .

Sounds like a CIA op to me . I was just thinkin . If you asked a local in the Andes if they knew what good powder coke was , they would prolly not know what its about . Context ?

Thanks for sharin

I recall the story ,, said they were farmers that previously farmed on the thai side , but had to move to laos during the eradication program the americans initiated ...

I dunno if the thai stick was more directed toward a farang customer or not,
but heard they were available readily in bkk in the better days ,
even at the markets , nicely presented thai sticks for the waiting customers ,
with their bit of ocd i can imagine them presenting them or wanting too as nicely as they could ,
no sweat , the woman were making the sticks , not like the guys were doing that over there eb ,, hehehe ..

the golden thai we got bags of as the sticks were disappearing were most certainly grown to the full potential , recalling the buds , one wonders if there wasnt just a touch of wld in there , they were well developed and had some meat about them , i guess we will never know .. wished id seen thailand during that golden era ...

Anything is possible I suppose, but without being there when the seeds were acquired by GN, its just speculation.

Nong Kai is Nth East Thailand . A region called Isaan . Hasn`t been commercial herb grown out there since Sam blew through in the 70s .

Who says these seeds had to come from commercial farmers? Supposedly these seeds were from the farmers, who grew out Thai-(stick) in the 60's and 70's and likely beyond because who ever gives up growing after starting? These seeds are the progeny of those plants. Maybe the farmers are small time growers now who only grow for themselves, friends and family?

Maybe everything provided to us by DG and GN about this Thai is just pure bullshit? I can't help but feel like you are attempting to cast aspersions on this line knowing full well I can't confirm nor deny any info about it already available. I do understand that you may be dubious about the origins of this line or any other line after all the bullshit that runs rampant in the seed industry. At some point we have to take the breeder/seed gatherer at their word.

From there, all I can do is grow it out and share it with everyone who wants to come along for the slow ride to Thai paradise.

Thanks for the information Donald. Im just an American guy who has never been to Thailand, and knows little about the marijuana trade of the past there, nor the happenings of yesteryear and today.

All I can do is take Gypsy at his word, and grow out these amazing Thai plants and hopefully do them justice and present something worthy for everyone reading this journal.

Speaking of Thai. TSA is due to come down today. She's gone over 210 days at this point..Update on her soon I promise.

Whoa !
Casting aspersions ? Not the intention . I visited Nong Kai earlier this year . So was excited to hear the reference .
Don seems to back up my story . Not grown in Thailand anymore . Now grown in Laos .

I recall the story ,, said they were farmers that previously farmed on the thai side , but had to move to laos during the eradication program the americans initiated ...

So I might have a clue what I`m talkin about ?
Udon Thani just down the road was a US strong hold in the 60s -70s . Eradication would have been felt there early on .
Udon Thani air base USAF use during the war
USAF Use During The Vietnam War
Udon was a front-line facility of the United States Air Force (USAF) during the Vietnam War from 1964 through 1975.
I am following your grow with interest . No aspersions . Trying to fill in an American guy who has never been to Thailand, and knows little about the marijuana trade of the past there, nor the happenings of yesteryear and today.

I have an active interest in Thai genetics past and present .

Thanks for sharin

Much appreciated bro .

Don is the fella who introduced me to Thailand . Since then I have traveled the length and breadth .

Every where I went it was all the same Laos brick weed . Except up next to the Burma border . There I was able to buy from a farmer in person .
Loose flowers with minimal seeds . [25 seeds in 2-3 ounces ] .

A different looking flower to the brick much darker coloured . And more matured than what is in the bricks .

Headed back soon . Hope to get into Laos this time around .

Thanks for sharin

Day 217 GN Thai Stick A-Clone Harvest Update

Day 217 GN Thai Stick A-Clone Harvest Update

Well I was shooting for 210 days on this lady, but ended up hitting 217 before finally bringing her down. That's 31 weeks flowering!! Before cutting her down, I moved her into my hanging/drying closet to sit for a few days. I kinda forgot about her and ended up at 31 weeks exactly before chopping her. New record for me, and not one I really want to approach again anytime soon.

She's shed all her fan leaves from low fertility levels along the way, as well most of the smaller leaves that tend to make her a PITA to trim, but will be a breeze now as she's just foxtails after foxtails of glistening calyxes.

Its real easy to pack a bowl of her to enjoy. Just strip a foxtail of calyxes or just snip the whole thing off at the base and shove it in your pipe, or whatever utensil you smoke from. Goes fast, but is quite the treat. Ill be saving some of this to be dry-sifting, and going to try the tangwena cob-curing method if Ive not overshot my mark yet.

I didn't just bring words, I also brought pictures for you all to enjoy.

BEHOLD.
