Thanks for the honesty. Can you please elaborate on this? How much is it putting out, and how was the measurement made? Seems like reports so far on the 860 have all been generally disappointing (regardless of the ballast used).
Please forgive my ignorance, having little interest in the smaller lamps until now I had skimmed over most prior comments about the 315s. Has anyone explored using them in triples on a 1k mag ballast?

Does anyone have any experience on the 210w ceramics that advancedtechlighting is selling? I have a 250w retro white that I've ran for atleast 5 grows now, and I'm thinking of changing it before it explodes, and was wondering if the 210w 4K bulb + electronic Philips ballast would be a good replacement? It's newer technology and they (AdvancedTechLighting) claim they've tested the bulbs with plants.
The 210w lamps are the little brothers to the 315w lamps that have been talked about extensively in here. I would expect them to perform the same, but with less power. Advancedtech also offers these lamps in the mogul-base version, which would make sourcing the socket a little easier. However, one benefit to the PGZ18 socket is that it always indexes the lamp so that the internal support structure is in the same spot, allowing you to make sure that it doesn't interfere with the light being cast.

Yes, both Cycloptics and E-Papillon offer complete fixtures, and I think a couple of other companies.
Yes, it can be run in a traditional hood. The single-jacket T9 lamps need to be in a fixture with a lens, but the T12 Agro versions can be run open. The ballast is a Philips ballast, and it can be used with both the mogul and the PGZ18 versions of the lamp. Any hood can be used as long as it meets the lamp requirements (open or enclosed) and is size-appropriate for the lamp. These lamps are pretty small - if you try and use a hood that was designed for a 1000w lamp, the lamp isn't going to be centered and the light distribution is going to be impacted. I used the Bell Lighting MV400 hoods, and they work very well.

Does the PGZ18 base have any advantage over the mogul base? It seems as though there are better reflectors available that take advantage of the PGZ18 form factor. Are you using that bell lighting reflector with a PGZ18 socket and bulb?

I think that they are superior to the mogul base. The PGZ18 orients the lamp the same way each time, so that the internal bracing doesn't cause any shadowing. There is also no way to over-tighten (or under-tighten) the connection. Remember, the Edison screw base (mogul) is well over a hundred years old now, so it's about time for an improvement.
Yes, I use PGZ18 sockets in my Bell hoods - at the time that I started using these, the mogul base 315s weren't available.

Ah, that makes sense! I'm going to pickup a PGZ18 socket and the e-vision ballast from Advancedtech since $195 seems to be the cheapest price I can find on that ballast. I use the Sunleaves Viper 6" aircooled. The reflector itself minus the flanges is about 19" long so I think the T12 bulb will be sitting somewhere close to the middle.
Also, I'm using a 250w MH for veg right now, so this would be just for bloom as of now...given that, which flavor of the T12 should I get?

I'd get the 930 Agro for flowering. Look around, some of the prices are ridiculous. I haven't bought anything from the following link, but the price from them is about where the most competitive vendors are selling them.
