@Cannaisok: what do you want to do? Rebuild your existing HPS fixtures to CMH?
What are the components you need? What country are you in?

I live in a country with high electricity bills in middlewest europe:)
I did several years small outdoor for myself but all this got too risky and the weather is getting worse every year, all the storms and floodings killed everything and i startet thinking about indoor in a small setup.
Have a growlab120 and an industrial airfilter and a bysen 126x3w led.
but i recognized that the led performs best on a footprint of ~2x2.
after reading about this agro bulb with only 3XX watts performing well on a 3x3-4x4 space, i tought that this setup could be very good for my space... all i have to buy is cdm ballast(140), bulb(120), lightholder(15) and a good reflector(50€for diamond400, is this a good one?)... dpallion fixture costs ~490€ at least with shipping. Im not an expert indoor and have not unlimited budget but i still want to buy a solid setup with low electricity bill and lots of nice homegrown ;-)...

I use Dpapillon fixtures and I have to say that the price is proportionate.
The reflector is very efficient and try to save money by recovering the pieces on the network, it may be disappointing.
In a complete fixture, all parts are designed to interact .... the size of the reflector is proportionate to the bulb that mounts so the light spread is optimized.....would be the same even with the diamond? I don't know....so you have to try.
So spending 490$ for a complete fixture and I know what I can expect or try to make a copy to save money (about 100$)and do not know what's the answer? :tumbleweed:

thats my dillema man! but this160€ i´m saving are more than 200Dollars, and thats a lot of money for me, if the difference would be only 100dollar like 75Euro then i wouldn´t have to think and calculate long ;-) My little indoor setup costs over 1400Dollar and i didnt harvest anything! only one single test plant(euforia50gr.) in the summer... this is becoming an expensive hobby :-D
I sleep another 1-2nights over this and decide then. I guess it will be the"cheap diy setup but maybe i go safe and easy by buying the original... ,3

don't be penny wise, remember that there is no expensive equipment growing cannabis. Though a high power HPS will earn itself back a bit quicker than a 315W CDM still you should be able to grow 250 - 300 grams per CDM lamp. That would give you a ROI of less than one crop cycle, including the used electricity.

Basically in a normal installation the room pays for itself the first (good) cycle. Even if you grow for yourself you got to take into account what the costs would be if you would buy the stuff instead of growing it yourself.

After about 6 runs I average about 1.3 g/w or 400g per harvest per light.
This is with the Cycloptics system running 2 lamps over 3x6 canopy surrounded bu Orca film.
Running Pre 98 Bubba.
If you can have more than one light in a given grow area, the yield will improve. (uniformity)

thanks guys! ur all right in a way and that helped me a lot! I will w8 another month and defenetly go with a cmd! I think i will not be penny wise(thx wazzup i learned a new english vocab;) so i decided to with original dpallilon or i get a new Northstar both would cost pretty much the same...
@dekabum
ty for reply and i got what u want me to undestand! Equip isn´t all and experience is everything! But in this case i have one problem with my lightning(covering2x2) and not air or temp (maybe little ph/ec..but i dont know) thats why i rly have to upgrade my ligth in the little (4x4tent with giant industrial air filters:)
and because of low experience i thank u all for ur reply
a 400/600w hps/hid would be too much in combination with my 126x3led that would counume too much and i would maybe mess my first grows up... that would cost me even more...
250w hid would not be easy to combine with a led, that would be like 2 grow spaces in one tent...
but 350w of cmd would cover enough and one side would get the led ~500watts of good lights and no cost for replacement of anything for the first 4grows sounds good!?

I#m a noob and i am not pissed if someone more experienced tells me that i am thinking wrong!! i thank for help
peace cannaisok!

Wow, that was a lot of reading. Thanks for all the info guys!

Anyway, I know there are mixed reviews of advancedtechlighting.com and I don't think there were any recent ones. I would *strongly* recommend not using them unless you don't value your time at all.

It took me over a week, 4 phone calls, 3 emails (none replied to), and opening a paypal claim just to get them to ship my light and ballast. I'm very afraid of what will happen if it gets here and the bulb is cracked or anything else.

I'll have to check them out next time. They only sell with a reflector though, right? I'm trying out a bare bulb setup for now.

Well advancedtechlighting just emailed me (finally) but only to say that they forgot to include the mogul socket so I'll have to buy one locally. Pain in the ass since there is nowhere near me that sells them, which is why I bought it online to begin with.

Hi all. Thank you for the excellent info provided in this thread. As a result of my research, I just upgraded from LED / T5 to CMH + LEDs. I just wish I had read this before I bought a new 4x4 tent though.... oh well, two of the 315w Elite Agros plus two 240w 7-band LEDs (133w per at plug) ought to be sufficient. 900w total :)

I hang out in the CO section of the RIU boards typically, and am journaling there, but I will drop pics and results here. Too bad you can't upload pics here... guess I won't be dropping pics here...

Welcome. I don't recall there having been a restriction on it, but you might need 50 posts to upload pictures here. That number of posts is required to get access to a number of the site features.

Thanks for the welcome.... sorry to mention the other place on your boards :). Just 48 more posts and you all will be able to see them two Elite Agros hanging in there. I bought the 2nd Sun Systems fixture today.... pricey, but high quality it appears. Plus always nice to be able to support someone that actually makes their product in the country I live in.....

I currently have all 4 lights about 36" above the plants... They're just in veg, no scrog net yet. However, the plants are clones and are at least 3-4 weeks along. Any advice on how high I should set them?

I've run mine down to about 12" over the top of the plants at the end of the run when I was out of height. However, I'm using enclosed/air cooled reflectors.

I haven't moved my lights in ages, by the end 12" seems about where I end up as well.
This is with open fixtures (Cycloptics).

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'm at about 30" above now, but I could see at the end of the scrog being only a foot away. I had to turn off the 2 LEDs due to heat, trying to keep temps at 78 or so and I was over 81 and climbing. Temps at night are 58 lol. New house, much different from old for temps. So today I'm running some heat to the room...

I think this is more dependent on spacing and filling that space with adequate light then how close you can get them. bleach is at 7 inches from fixture reflector ( not the whole unit.. ) from what I've seen. I think that was 1600 par if I can remember correct

I don't know your setup spacing, but 36" sounds very very high to me.
