Canadian Gorilla vs. Mother Nature

There you go. Figured out the best way to post pics. My Bangis are about the size of one of your branches.:)
Only 2 months in the ground longer than mine. Dam these plants can grow.
Starting to get their color back. Do you spray for bugs? I don't see any damage.

Great to hear rain is on the way. Hope it puts a damper on those fires. They must not be far. Where there's smoke there's fire.

Nice flboy! Those Bangi are fattening quite nicely! She's not too unhappy, just growing fast and getting hungry. We understand... :)

Won't be long and we'll be shifting to phosphorous feeding mode... mmmmm :)

Please take these comments in a positive way, just trying to throw my $.02 in;

Piss every where bro. I pee around the plants, around the thin spots of veg that I expect deer to come through, and on the plants themselves sometimes. If the deer keep hassling you try it out, and even consider making some cayenne pepper/dish detergent spray to load up your plants and all the surrounding vegetation with.

As far as the breeding goes... I would personally use the Bangi females instead of the males. Mold resistance tends to be dictated by the mother in a cross, and flowering time tends to be dictated by the males. If you use bangi males and the bangi is your latest strain, you would be setting yourself back.
I would use the two best males from the Pinewarp on everything, personally.

Thank you for your input Bean Bag, This breeding question has been on my mind. I have asked a few quality breeders this question.
Male or female for passing on certain traits. There has been no consensus with the answer. I will start another thread right now in the breeding area to shed more light on this issue. If you or anyone else can provide links to info on this topic, that would be great. Or anyone else that has real world experience with this can post their thoughts here.
As for this year. I only have Bangi Haze and Tikal males, all others are feminized. Maybe next year I will pick my best crosses and do another run with males from other strains and Bangi haze females and see what the difference is. Thanks again for your input.
Peace GG

Dam the weather man. The 7 day forecast called for lots of rain. Now everyday when I check the weather, it seems to disappear from the forecast. Pockets of rain here and there. Let's hope the ladies got a shower. On the news they said some local areas have had the lowest rain fall in 50 years. The forest fires continue. Well back to my rain dance.

Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri all have pockets of fields underwater :(

Just the opposite here. Farmers are looking to crop insurance already.
Selling off cattle that they can't feed. Why can't mother nature just spread out the rain evenly, lol.

Well the rain dance worked and we finally got a decent rainfall last night. Maybe more tonight. :woohoo:

Thanks for stopping in GT,
I wish I could take credit for the health of the plants. But really it is 95% mother nature and 5% me. I dug a small hole added lime and a handful of fertilizer. Absolutely no water from me or sprays of any sort. Just testing what is the minimal one can get away with, after all it is an amazing survivor plant. I guess we will see come fall which finish in time and without mold.
Peace GG

A Tribute to a fallen Guerrilla

A Tribute to a fallen Guerrilla

This is a Tribute to Silverback

I never had the pleasure to meet or chat with Silverback as I came to this great site after he passed away.
There is a sticky called Silverback's Threads: the Complete Collection in the outdoor section.
A must read for guerrilla growers. He was a wealth of great information.
In one of his treads called: Yield increasing planting method, there is a technique called horizontal planting method. He never invented it, it's a technique that's been around for along time. But his thread brought it to my attention. I planned on doing this to all my plants, but plans changed due to not being able to grow them big enough inside.
Anyway I lost another Durban Poison. Just disappeared. I don't know if something ate it or what. It was a small one planted in a bad spot that was very dry. I thought i would try this method. I added a bunch of water crystals and transplanted a Bangi haze into the spot.

I forgot to scrape the stem and it's late in the season for this method. We will see how it works. There is at least 5 branches that can grow up.

I do this with my tomatoes every year, but I cut off the lower branches, this should be interesting! It would work very well if you had a spot you could access with a tiller. Till a long strip, plant the plants 5 feet apart and then when they are 5 feet tall, lay them down and bury the main stem. Course tilling for plants isnt good if they fly for plants, but where Im at, I think this is pretty much unheard of and it would just look like a farmer put in a new tree row or something similar.

update:

Plants have been getting some rain finally. Of course the rain can't come without a storm. Two plants were blown over, A S6 and A Shaman. Here is a pic of the S6 blown over. I was tempted to leave it because it blends in so well.

Serious 6 before

picture.php

And after I tied it up

Shaman after I tied it up

All plants are between 3 and 6 ft tall ( 91 - 182 cm). The taller ones have been in their holes the longest as I have said. In this pic you can see the difference between a 6 ft DP and about 3 ft Bangi Haze.
The Bangi Haze were buried in homemade temporary pots waiting for them to sex. I ended up just burying the cardboard pots further under rather disturb the roots growing under and through the pots.
Still not 100% sure on the sex of Bangis. They are slow to show and very hard to tell when they do. I see no pistils. All the other strains I can tell for sure.

I'll post pics of the other strains tomorrow.

Part 2 of update:

Here is a pic of Tikal. She is a beast of a plant considering that all I did for this one was add 3/4 of a cup of blood meal to the soil when I planted her in the middle of a deer trail. She is about 6' or 182 cm. I pray she shows some flowers soon or there is no chance of her finishing before the freeze comes.

Shaman topped by a deer about a month ago, I super cropped one branch on the right.

The Pinewarp has a very nice structure and huge fan leaves. I really like this one so far.

These are the 2 Bangi Haze buried in cardboard pots. Looking a little on the yellow side.

Overall I'm amazed at the health of all plants. Very little insect damage.I did see grasshoppers in the area for the first time, and they can do damage fast. They have been getting rain every couple days now. Usually in the form of a fast and violent lighting storm.
I'll take it after a couple months of drought like conditions.

Hope everyone is having a great season.
Peace GG
