Can I Help U Free Yourself from Tobacco?

I have tried to quit on a few occasions, my wife has refused everytime I quit, not refused, just she was never ready when I was. The few times I quit(longest for 8 months, I was also practicing aikido at the time, HELPED ALOT), I always failed, cause my wife would smoke in front me, and I just couldnt beat the temptation (u guys know the story, heh). Well the other day she approached me and said "Im ready to quit, will you quit with me" and of course an immediate "Yes honey, you know im ready" answer was delivered.

She is still a lil hesitant I believe (she gave me the "after our next harvest" line), but to me hey at least theres hope. So here in a couple months expect to see me (and quite possibly her) in this thread sharing our "fight".

Ive only been at icmag a short time, but it is quickly becoming my "home away from home" there are some great human beings here, I talk about some of you folks with my wife as if we are friends, and I have had very few exchanges of words with any of you.

Grow on people..
IC ROCKS!

well i seem to be going the same path now i gotta date and gonna get the patches..............here goes

wish me luck :abduct:

Man, I get so close to my "freedom" but I always seem to fail.

I agree, the first 3 days are rough. I usually just smoke ALOT of herb during that time. After that, I don't seem to have a problem getting to the 3 week mark. But thats when it all falls apart for me. This year alone Ive quit for 1-2 moths twice, but I always end up getting drunk, and a cig ends up in my mouth, and then the vicious cycle begins again.

It sucks, because I don't have an adictive personality, and it shouldn't be a problem. I don't care what anyone says, quiting cigs is a very tough task.

Im glad I read this post. I haven't had a cig for 2 days now. It doesn't seem like much to you non smokers, but when you have money in your pocket and a store down the street, its tough to resist the urges.

If I can make it through this weekend, there will be hope. My friend is getting a keg, so naturally Ill be getting a little drunk tonight :D Probably tomorrow too. Ill try to remember to report back with my results.

I just need to keep telling myself

I WILL NOT SMOKE
I WILL NOT SMOKE
I WILL NOT SMOKE

*gets urge for cig*

FUCK ADICTION

Auto Suggustions and Visualization

Auto Suggustions and Visualization

Hellinski, set the date and don't try to quit. Look your wife in the eye and both commit on a certain date to quit. Have your stash and your patches ready. The initial 3 days is hard but many people can do that. With the patches I feel this quitting process is much easier. I keep patches around for smokers to try and if I get the temptation from others around me smoking I slap a low dose patch on myself.

If you ever fall back having these on hand will really help because you will never really lose your desire for tobacco once addicted. The brain can be fooled however into thinking something else is as good or better. Logic should be enough but it often isn't because humans are just animals. Rules by physical desires. If not an animal they all that's left are vegetables. :D

I find subliminals weak but possibly useful. The truth is I got more help for a truly hypnotic tape that helped me visualize things associated with smoking and eliminate these connections.

My visualization was an old fashioned switchboard a telephone operator used once in the long past. ;) I see each connection as an activity associated with smoking tobacco. Like driving the car or talking on the phone or after dinner. Disconnecting the wires over and over seemed to help me disconnect my brain from the activities I so regularly smoked with.

I am gonna be right back with a photo... BOG

This is the Quitters friend

Don't be ashamed to use this patch when needed. Heavy smokers start with the 21 mg patch then go to the 14 mg patch then finally this 7 mg patch. A heavy smoker may need to take the full 6 week program of 2 weeks of each stage but it is no more costly than smoking...perhaps a bit less in fact as 7 of these cost about 20 bucks. BOG

Thanks for the suggestions bog, Im more of a cold turkey guy myself, my wife is gonna be using patches im sure, we still have a box in the cab from when my brother stayed here and was attempting to quit.

The "keeping some low dose patches around for when you have the urge" idea, is brilliant though, why didnt I think of that?!?!?! :D

See to me its not so much the health, its the money we will save, smokes arent the $.85 they used to be! Plus I told me wife all money we will save from not smoking will go towards our "cruise fund" so hopefully thats something for her to focus on.

Thanks again Bog, u are an extraordinary individual

Vaporizer Update

Vaporizer Update

Well, we got our vaporizer 10 days ago, and I am proud to say that we have only "smoked" two bowls since. I thought I was going to miss the "smoke," but I don't. The two times we actually smoked a bowl, it was because the vaporizer wasn't convenient - in the car, and at a friend's house. You know, I actually found myself missing the vaporizer.

Once I quit smoking cigarettes, everything started to smell and taste better. After I had been off cigs for a month I couldn't stand to be around the smell of cig smoke, and I had smoked them for 13 years. It was amazing to me that I never realized how bad it smelled. Well, you know how wonderful that first hit of a bowl tastes out of a clean pipe? That is how wonderful every hit off of the vaporizer tastes. We have 3 friends who are all getting ready to buy a Vapor Bros. Vaporizer, not for the health reasons, but because they genuinely like the smooth, tasty hits better! Last night a friend said, "I mean, its cool that its healthier, but man that tastes good!"

I thought that I wouldn't get as high - not true at all! I get just as high and use less herb to do it! I thought I would miss the aesthetic quality of exhaling smoke - I don't - you exhale a white vapor mist that you would swear is smoke, until you do the paper towel filter test - let me explain:

the next time you smoke a cigarette or a bowl of herb, take a plain white paper towel, tee shirt or tissue, and fix it over your mouth, then exhale through it. You will see a nasty brown spot on the white filter. Now, when you do this with a vaporizer you get nothing! It is physical proof that you aren't doing the damage to your lungs, and its a great feeling!

Now, only the first hit off a clean bowl tastes good when "smoking," and it is almost like when we quit smoking cigs . . . we don't really want to "smoke" anything anymore. Who ever thought that acquiring healthier habits would make you feel better? LMAO at myself!

To all of you out there who are still battling a nicotine addiction, I send you my love and support. It is not an easy thing to beat the addiction, but you will feel so empowered when you do. Believe in yourself! Smoking cigarettes is YOUR CHOICE, and only you can choose NOT to do it. There are things in life that you don't have control over - like an assanine president trying to convince the nation that we should postpone the presidential election, but you do have control over wether or not you are a cigarette smoker. Make the choice to fight a battle that I know you can win! I believe in each and every one of you, now all you have to do is just BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

For those of you who have beaten the nicotine bug, but still feel a little bad about the fact that you "smoke" herb, give the vaporizer some thought, send me a pm, ask some questions, find a friend who has one, and just try it! I do highly recommend the whip style vaporizer like we bought. I have used a Vapir vaporizer as well, but I didn't like it nearly as much. I would love to try a Volcano, but they are still a little too pricey for me and I don't know anyone who owns one. We spent a total of $173 including tax and shipping, and it was worth every penny! I can tell a difference in the morning when I wake up too - I don't have nearly as much sinus drainage as when I was smoking herb all day. I do not forsee much "smoking" in my future, and I'm really happy about that.

If I can be of help to any of you in any way, just drop me a pm and let me know! Nothing feels better to me than helping others find a way to feel better about themselves!

Peace,

the vaporizer got me :abduct:

Vague, but interesting

Vague, but interesting

I haven't had the chance to read this thread thouroughly just yet. But I have a question/comment. Just Friday at work I was complaining with a friend at work on how my addictive personality has allowed me to quit smoking several times, just to get drunk and find myself on the floor from a powerful headrush after puffing a "smoking gun" (cigarette). He is a history buff and informed me that during the 60's and in particular the time period when the Black Panthers were active, they discovered a natural antidote to heroin/nicotine addiction. It is derived from some plant somewhere in Africa. It is supposedly reported to "rewire" the part of the brain that is addictive. The Panthers were reported to have started a treatment program and helped thousands of Addicts of Heroin, Cigarrettes and other Opiates free themselves from not only the substance of their choice, but also the addictive personality traits as well. I am sorry not to remember the name of this plant extract or its origin plant, but It is said that in the treatment process, this "antidote" will send you on an 8 hour "hallucinogenic journey to freedom". As a last note....I was told that the government shut down the Panthers treatment program, because it worked. My question is....has anyone heard about this? and is there any information available for research?

an addition to the interesting but vague

an addition to the interesting but vague

Hey Kedei . . . I have never heard about the Black Panther thing, but I just got out of a movie called Super Size Me, and there was one snippet of info about a drug that is used to revive patients suffering from heroin overdose.

The movie is actually about this guy who does an experiment - eats and drinks nothing but McDonald's products for a month to see how it affects his health. He decided to do this in response to the lawsuits several people have filed against fast food companies for "making them fat." Later tonight I'm gonna start a thread about the movie, and tell you guys more - it was really really good!

But, anyway, about the drug that beats a heroin overdose. Apparently there is a drug, called Naloxene, that blocks the opiate receptors in the brain so that the heroin doesn't work anymore, and the person "comes to." Now, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the remedy you are talking about, but the guy in the movie was saying that you could use this drug and chocolate wouldn't taste good to you anymore - people who are addicted to chocolate would also be able to put down the candy bar! I'll have to read up some more on the drug.

Peace,
Freeda Green

Narcan ain't what the Black Panthers used

Narcan ain't what the Black Panthers used

I have no idea which one it was but Nalaxone or narcan is the antidote for opiates and when you have an OD it saves them. Narcan won't help with addictions.

BTW, Freeda, I have a cheap vape that works off my car lighter cause the heating element is 12 v anyways so an adapter for it from Radio Shack and we had power. Ya know a vape makes a lot less smell in a car too. ;) BOG Mine cost only about 80 bucks and is a passive system without water.

How do you prove you quit?

How do you prove you quit?

Hazy, you think I need proof? If ten people lie and just one quits I have sent a few seeds to save a life. Do you know how selfish of me this really is?

You see I work for a higher master than any man. Karma is easy to earn and that's why it is better to give than to receive. :)

Cheat me and I win. You see my view? Jesus said, "if a man steals your wallet give him your cloak too".

I am not Jesus but I am a karma hound as everyone knows. ;) BOG

Look at the Bright Side!!!

Look at the Bright Side!!!

150 bucks in patches, 2500 bucks worth of pot and a lot of irritability. Perhaps success never comes cheap or easy but if it is worth doing the inconvenience is really nothing. Good work BrightSide. :) BOG

Did I send you your LS seeds yet?
