I just picked up a master case of roor. Seems like good stuff, no smell, came out of the can nice and slow when chilled kinda like puretane or colibri. The guy that sold it to me and instagram say its newport. I really like the 400ml can, I use a 18" by 1 1/2" spool and I only need 2 cans instead of three so I get more runs per case.

I'm still so confused, I guess I'll just have to try it and see. I'm having a hard time understanding where they go when you squish them?!?! Do they just magically disappear or they work their way out the sides?

Newport recently failed retest, it's now way down on my Best to Worst Canned Butane List.

From roorglass:

"I proudly introduce dr green thumb / Roor butane . This butane is a collaboration between top industry butane company NEWPORT butane and ROOR . @newportbutane@breal This is a UK made butane 400ml can with a seal of quality by the man him self @breal #roor#roortane#highendbutane#roorglass#710 This will hit the market end of October . Tag your favorite shop to let them know about this great product . Helps us get this great product by great companies out there ."

"...that's why we partnered up with a company that know everything about butane .its not a rebranding since the 400ml does not exist with Newport product . Plus it is on a different price level ."

"About Us

England high quality purified butane

I'm glad Roor went with English butane, but there's still quite a spread in English quality.

First time can tapping. How long does one can normally take? Using 300ml Colibri that have been sitting the the freezer for a couple days. Has been taking me 10 mins per can at least.

I vacuumed down my recovery tank before starting. I don't have a guage on my tank so I don't know if there still is a vacuum. Is there a way I could vacuum my tank back to - 29.9 with butane in the tank?

When tapping cans there is no need to have them chilled. In fact it is most likely slowing down your transfer time. Room temp cans worked best for me.
I assume your using a recovery pump since your tapping cans. The outlet pressure of your pump is a good measure of your tank pressure, unless your using a cps which has no gauge.

There is no need to vac down your recovery tank again, not to mentions it's unsafe . Your tank shouldn't be at full vac anymore considering you loaded it with butane. Icing your tank down will lower your tank pressure which in turn should shorten your recovery time. It's not a fast or fun process that's for sure.

It's really easy to add a gauge to the tr21. You just get a run tee with a swivels female flare, a male flare opposite of that, and on the side a 1/8" npt. I found some for 10 dollars somewhere I think.

damn i should have tapped my cans to the collection pot first. It is too late now. I guess there is mystery oil in my recovery tank now. Any way to clean a recovery tank?

Remove the butane from the tank as a liquid, and it will take the MO with it.

Inject it into your collection pot, like you were running, and pump it off into a clean tank. It will leave the MO in the collection pot.

Humpi, read back on ways on this thread. Temp for your distill is important. I do 70F to go quicker but colder is better.

I think I will have to do another distill tonight. 70f is still pretty cold. I did my distill around 70-80. I wiped up a bunch of MO from my collection pot. That shit is nasty lol.

Is distilling a long process? I think it took me close to 3h to distill 15# of butane. I was using a TR21
with MT69 in ice water. Had my recovery tank chilled also. How else can I speed things up? Or am I just an impatient bustard?

Upgrade to a 50' 1/2" two ball valve IC69. Use the biggest recovery tanks you can. Keep the IC69 in dry ice and alch. Keep the recovery tank in water and ice.

report back on recovery time of same 15# (45 cans???).

If you are going to rock 50 feet of coil on dry ice, make sure to set it up for gravity assisted self drainage.

I just use regular ice and water. I've never timed though but for one tr21, 3 hrs doesn't sound bad at all. I would still try to get lower, like 60F if your only using one pump, but it will take longer.

I use the immersion style bends, so both parts of the coil come out the top of the cooler. I will keep the cooler elevated so as to siphon into the lower receiveing iced Lp5 tank.

Will this get me there?

Watch your water content bro. Thick butane and especially slush don't siphon well.

I agree with gw. Plus there isn't really any siphon because it's not open on the other end at atmospheric pressure. There is pressure in the tank, hopefully not as much as before the chillers obviously but there's still a good deal of pressure in there that will fight you.

Even with just ice bath, and a full tank, the pressure gets up to about 50 psi and my pressure gauges start jumping around cause my coils are clogged (I don't have the gravity drain setup either). So I gotta go pull em out of the ice bath for like 30 seconds to warm them up and expell the trapped liquid.

I hear you and will build all new IC69's differently / buy from WW. I don't always get what I want....

The good news is the non gravity version of IC69's work great as chillers right at point of injection with warm vapor pressure behind!!! Ye haw!!!!!
