yeah, thats what i like about the bubba, i appreciate the muscle relaxation but dont like to be too 'zombified'.

for sleeping i think catching the 'tail' of a good high - as you come down after a big hit - is good for falling asleep, an hour or so after the hit.

The thing with VGs' s1 is while they're not couch lock it's still strong bud. I just smoked a bowl. I'm not glued but I'm definitely chilling lol. Plus they all taste great. I liked every single plant out of a 5 pack, still have 3 and I might keep 2.

I’ve personally tried vg’s pre 98 ad I would agree with you both it’s definitely a good all around body with just the right amount of cerebral to keep you going. I soon as I get around to dropping these pre 98 beans I ordered a few months back I may do a test for trich readyness comparison let one go a little longer and see if I can notice a big difference if any, also looking forward to dropping these white rhino pre 98 beans, off topic but anyone have any input on those?

For me, if the Bubba is not setting me deep into the chair or bed, its not worth it and its may not be Bubba. (Soooo many fakes)

The flower structure
The high
The flavor.
All unmistakable
All necessary to be Bubba Kush.

Firehouse Bubba is awesome.
The guy who made it has the old Bubba seedstock ;-)

Thcvhunter, i agree with most of what you say - i am a huge fan of the Bubba... but whilst it is good and strong it doesn't quite have the sheer potency of some of the modern hybrid cuts such as the glue or strains such as casey jones.
My pre-98 Bubba cut is definitely legit, it S1s very reliably and hundreds of packs have been sold and grown out without anyone casting any doubt on it. Recently a breeder who is widely regarded as one of the world's leading experts on cannabis and genetics bought 50 of the S1s from me as part of a bulk order of some of my gear.
That said i'm sure there are plenty of other good representations of bubba out there on the market and maybe there are also lots of fakes too.

that test would be interesting Gt, ive heard tell of some people letting the bubba go really long for a knockout narcotic sleepy effect but never done it myself.

The White Rhino x Pre-98 Bubba cross is perhaps the one i'm most pleased with, the taste leans towards bubba for me but the rhino adds fuelly and cheesey notes and the whole effect seems like an 'electrified' bubba with extra resin and potency, whilst the plants have good vigor.
test grows:

I will definitely be trying that test probably on my next round I just popped a lot of gb bx2 and bx3 to pick some winners of, and had already planned on the Bubba being next so it will be a little while but I will definitely get back to you with some results! I know schmavis is looking forward to the results as well I still have some of his Bubba jarred up myself I was very pleased with it. The white rhino x bubba I have been excited about since I saw the packs for sale I’m looking forward to growing those out for the very reasons you just mentioned it’s been a long long time since I’ve had some wr and I love Bubba so I’m pretty excited to say the least :dance013:

Cool.

Bubba's potency is perfect.
I dont enjoy 25+% strains.

Ive never needed more than one bowl of Bubba.

Im looking forward to playing with some of her sisters and brothers from the OG seed stock in SoCal.
No need for me to mess with S1's.

Looks beautiful!!

Thank you. If you're looking for a good representation of pre98 you can't go wrong with VGs s1. The taste, the smell are very close. My other clone is damn near identical to pre98 but tastes a lil better. I was searching for pre98 for a while until I found these.

how large did these plants get?? we sowed 1 seed, and we thought it was a runt, culled it and planted another 2.. they tooo grew so slow we culled them too... finally planted the balance which were also culled... VG said bubba's are slow growing... we found them way beyond s l o w ...

yes, some really struggle with the slow veg of bubba, others less so.

if you have a soil that other plants absolutely thrive in, and use large pots, up-potting in a timely manner, i find the bubba and the bubba S1s not too slow. I tend to schedule an extra couple of weeks vegging time compared to a vigorous hybrid.
worst thing for bubba vegging is any knd of root-binding. they stall very quickly once the roots start filling the bottom and edges of the pot. Also, whilst they can tolerate a nutrient heavy soil, i find they don't need it and do better with moderate nutrition.

I didnt think they were too bad but I grow pure indicas a lot lol. My keeper is the slowest of the bunch but she's worth it imo.

Another clone of VGs' s1 I took down a couple of days ago. Lower yield and but super fast finish, berry coffee scent and dank. This is the one I'm going to let go.

LOL welcome to Bubba genetics. You will think they are all runts and the yield is not good at all. Bubba is a personal stash plant or a breeding tool. It is an amazing breeding tool and fantastic smoke on it's own. There is a reason it will always be kept around, but it certainly is not vigor. Start crossing it into some land race strains to tame them and kill stretch.
