i'm searching bubba kush for insomnia. which breeder offers best seeds?

If BOG is still making Sour Bubble that's the closest to Bubba I've experienced in seed form.

To be honest any Bubba cross will be dominated by the Bubba half - It's was clearly inbred over numerous generations so has very high homozygosity.

LOL welcome to Bubba genetics. You will think they are all runts and the yield is not good at all. Bubba is a personal stash plant or a breeding tool. It is an amazing breeding tool and fantastic smoke on it's own. There is a reason it will always be kept around, but it certainly is not vigor. Start crossing it into some land race strains to tame them and kill stretch.

Yeah I did that an got lucky as hell with vigor on now cross. The seeds I made in one cross are all tenacious, aggressive growers. The other two homemade crosses of Bubba lineage I'm trying out have that same slow start in veg and same big complaints when they get too big for the container that VerdantGreen mentioned.
Bradley Danks' Mkob, which has Bubba genes via Obama Kush, has none of the slow start or small container complaints, I've been really hassling 10 of them all spring and they don't seem to mind the small containers too much.

some people feel bubba as a couchlock and relaxing indica, while some others don't find it couchlock. i myself have never tried original bubba. have tried cbg peyote purple and didn't find it indica-like at all.

what puzzles me here is terpene profile of bubba.

unlike any indica it is mostly limonene/caryophyllene dominant, and since caryophyllene doesn't affect thc in a psychoactive way like major monoterpenes do, that makes bubba a mostly limonene dominant variety. another thing is bubba has overall low terpene content, i've never seen bubba higher than 2%.. and taking caryophyllene out of equation since it's not psychoactive left with even less of psychoactive monoterpenes percentage. to put it in comparison lets say ghost og - which is one of a few clones with verified origin - normally has 2-3,5% content and is much more myrcene dominant with much less caryophyllene. top terpenes' content is around 6%.

so, how a limonene variety can be felt by certain people as a couchlock sleepy indica?

Maybe it has more to do with cannabinoid content than terps. Maybe Bubba trichs have thin cuticle walls which allow the THCA to oxidize (or whatever it is that makes it turn to CBN) quicker.

The real deal p-98 is fantastic. I haven't seen it within my circles since I stopped cloning it around 9 years ago.

Every Bubba I have grown, or looked at since then; were only watered down versions, that were ok'ish because they had some Bubba in them but were not even in the same league as the original.

SoCal Master Kush from yesteryear was similar.

Putting to much trust and faith in lab reports. They show a very small part of the picture, and that picture could be completely skewed based on the actual samples and what they actually are. Bubba was good to go at just before 8 weeks, but some people would take it 10+, and said it was a whole different creature. Effects are going to change from just before peak ripeness vs over ripe.

More to it than just cannabinoid's and terp's. P-98 Bubba is some of the tastiest herb out there. The flavor translates perfectly from the smell, and the smell lingers on the smoke. Not to many plants do that.

End rant,
Mr^^

there is none CBN in the bubba's tests i've seen. thc is normally around 16%.

peace.

When I worked at the weed store all the material that was brought in was fresh. It all had lad reports, but none of them ever got tested after 3 months in the jar. THC numbers were always over 20% on the Bubbas I saw.

I grew a couple phenos of Sour Bubble BX3 some years back and am currently growing Pre-98 Bubba Kush. If I didn't know any better I'd think they were sister phenos from the same batch of seeds. I'd say they're 90%+ identical. If my memory serves me correctly, Sour Bubble has slightly thinner stems and is a touch less potent. Same flavor, same bud structure, same branching, same color, same stretch.
wow that info is very interesting! anyone else can attest to similarities between these 2? i thought bubba has nothing sour about it, was i wrong?

Sour bubble phenos can be all over the place in taste and smell all the way from sour sprite types to dead on bubba to sweet bubblegum funk to shitty diaper rotten Indian food type funks ... some generations are more likely to lead one way more then the others

The sprite phenos r the loudest and rarest I guess they are sour lemon lime with mouth coating flavor ... could say have bite to it but the rotten phenos are just rancid unknownprophet had one he kept around for a minute called Indian diaper baby that was just terrible in a good way but most phenos resemble bubba with a hashy kushy type aromas most common ... the high is the same all phenos I smoked have strong indica effects
