It's the end of day 5 12/12 for them, and I'm seeing preflowers on two of the plants. There is one suspected male, and one suspected female. These are two of the three large seedlings, neither of the small ones or the SD have shown any indication of sex yet.
MHM Male.........................The Remaining Five
As soon as I know the sex of all the plants, they will go into the black containers. I can't wait to transplant them, I think they're going to take really well. I tugged on the male, and the soil came out of the cup perfectly. Transplant should be very simple with these guys, the SD might be a little more tricky. I'll have to let the SD dry out quite a bit to have a clean transplant. I still haven't gotten the perlite to thin out the soil mix!
Day 8 Flowering - The two tall plants in the back are female!
SD IBL should be harvested either Oct. 16th (75 days), or Oct. 31st (90 days), depending on which pheno she turns out to be. For the MHM plants, they go between 60 and 77 days, which means I should be harvesting them between Oct. 1st and Oct. 18th.
Ok, looks like it's time to settle in for the ride. I transplanted the two larger seed plants and the SD, and realized that I couldn't have more than three plants in there, not in these containers. So I culled the two smaller ones, still unsexed. I'll just tell myself they were guys so I don't feel bad. The transplant went alright, I took the containers off and broke up the rootball. I also cut the FFOF with quite a bit of perlite, it's a lot lighter now, much more of a consistency that I'm familiar with and like.
I'm leaving in one week, so they better finish stretching soon, even though I haven't really noticed much of a stretch at all. I hope they don't wait until I'm gone for 5 days to grow upwards.
I wasn't really planning on it, I think I'm going to trim lower growth after the stretch is over and focus on canopy growth, because that's where the light will work best. I could probably buy some of that reflectix stuff from Home Depot I've seen in a few cabinets and cut that to size. I wanted to paint it white but I don't want to paint it in the middle of a grow.
Here they are! Coming along quite nicely, I think they've just about finished stretching, which is a relief, because I'm leaving in a couple days. Multiple calyxes on the upper budsites forming. It looks like they're hungry, looking a little pale. I thought the FFOF would feed them for a while but I must've added too much perlite and stuff to it for it to last. I haven't watered since I transplanted, and they will definitely be getting a feeding either tomorrow night or the next. I'll go back to the normal feeding (15ml PBP+LK), and I think they should darken up and look just as healthy as before. (Don't be fooled, I'm ecstatic about how great they look. )
I noticed a double serration in some of the teeth of the larger fan leaves on the MHM plant on the right of the cabinet. I searched a little but couldn't find much info on it.
I can't wait to come back in a week and see these girls starting to bulk up!
Here's a nice side-by-side comparison of one week ago, and just now. Looking at them every day you really don't notice this!
Watching the plants grow, and visualizing where the bud will be when they're finished growing, this just seems so inefficient! LSTing would've given me so much more, I'm sure. Oh well, it's good to see fully natural growth at least once, I'm glad I did this. Looks like I'll just have a single cola from each of the seed plants, and 4-6 main colas from the SD IBL.
Alright, I'm headed to the airport in a few hours, I snapped some pics, fed the girls, and shut the door on the cabinet, not to be opened again for 120 hours.
I lifted the reflector up about 6 inches, hopefully I won't have any problems with them growing into it. I will take another picture, just like the first one here, as soon as I get back. Should be a good comparison. Here they are!
I'm interested in SD IBL. From what I hear, it's one of the most potent strains out there (at $160 for 10 seeds, it should be!). You ever smoke it, or did you buy the seeds because you heard good things about the strain?
Day 16 Flower................................Day 21 Flower
These girls are still stretching, it's ridiculous. I want the SD to be in the spotlight, not the shadows. I'm either gonna have to do some serious LST and get a more even canopy or somehow raise the SD up.
I'm really excited, the SD is already starting to frost up. The last time I flowered plants it was just bagseed, and they never really frosted at all. I can't wait to see how this plant develops, I really love how it's grown.
