You pop the rockwool block into the buckets and backfill with hydroton?

Also, how do you keep roots out of the plugs in bottom?

I fill the buckets with hydroton to 4" from the top. Place the 4" cube in and fill around with hydroton. I don't clean the hydroton after harvest. I HATE CLEANING HYDROTON! After I harvest I pull the cube out and whatever roots come out with it. The rest of the hydroton and roots I leave in the bucket. I pull the inner bucket out of the outer bucket and pull the roots off the outside bottom and place the bucket back inside the outer bucket. Replant and run hygrozyme all through flower. Never had a problem with root issues. Anyone who has run a 2/gal ebb and grow or growflow knows the roots grow into the drain/fill opening wether it be on the side or the bottom. So after years of trial and error, this is what I do. Its a pain in the ass but this works, I don't install the screens for the scrog at the beginning of flower. I train the plants horizontally without the screen. I wait until Im 3 weeks into flowering when the root growth has all but stopped and I pick up the inner bucket with plant, place it very gently on a clean flat surface elsewhere. Roots have already grown through the growflow filters at this point. I stick a small screwdriver into one of the slits in filter, turn and pull out. I pull out all the roots in the filter and clean it, put it back in and then the plant and continue 23 more times. Then I install the screen. I have never lost a plant since I started doing this but again its a pain in the ass. This is the result.

looks like a calcium def to me . try a stronger feed before you start feeding defs with calmag . theres alot of cal & mag in the soft water formula already if thats what your using .
Yup RO formula. 1st week of flower I go in at 1000 ppm and then up it to 1100 by week 3-4. Can't figure it out. Someone said to start at around 100-200ppm before adding in the VB so I was thinking maybe up with with calmag first?

I'm trying the autopot root control discs this time around. Basically, it's just some type of round mesh material you throw in the bucket to cover the bottom. We'll see...

i dunno if somethings changed in the formula or what , but even i have been having to feed stronger than usual to keep the defs at bay & keep them green & healthy .
in veg i had to go from 1.0 to 1.2 to keep them happy & my round in flower at 23 days is a lime green this time instead of a darker green like usual . i plan tonight on the rez refill to bump the flower feeds a little too .

It says on the container of V+B ro/soft

Note: If water is below .3ec, add tap water to bring EC up to .3 before adding V+B

hmmmm?

Yes but everyone that uses it states it's high in N and as everyone knows high N causes fluffy buds.

thats why you taper off the last week before plain water feeds to stop the foxtailing & fatten/harden the buds . its all in the tweeking of the nutes like any other line .

I have been thinking about doing a system like that to maximize ceiling heights. Cat witch one do you use? So you basicly use the pump in the res to top feed and the pump in the box with the timer is the pump out for waist..... Is there anything else different about the set up? I've been thinking about the sentenal the blue one..... Don't know if that spelling is good

you still having problems with the PH stability stoned ??? that sux !

maybe think about the RO system . its made a world of difference in my garden !

The expense and hassle of RO vs shooting a couple ml of AN ph up into the res every couple days.

Guess which wins this fight every time mate:biggrin:
