Could it be a change in the way they pre wash the coco or a change in the source of the coco no idea but companies like the one i work for outsource when it's necessary to keep up with demand and on occasion quality may suffer.... But in in the Textile industry not the coco industry

thats my thinking Aspen & why i came in asking if anybody else had had problems with canna coco .
what brand are you using ?

Yes sorry i was reading about this V&B formula while writing
Anyway ill give it a try, your plants totally looks like when put in unbuffered coco it may be it came not washed well from the manufacturer at this point it seems the most reasonable thing..
Good luck dans!

Please keep us updated when you find out bro! Also just another thought, have you changed veg+bloom nutrient buckets or ran out of an old one recently and had to start using a different one that would coincide with the timing this occurrence? And I always thought you used cal mag at least on specific strains

I have heard of people having troubles with cal mag running v+b with Ro water (even tho they state there's sufficient in formula)

I will Brain ! nope same 5lb bucket , as a matter of fact , its just about gone & will have to break out a new one soon .
i've only used calmag on the sour bubble & its crosses cuz they are such calcium hogs . other than that , the only other thing i add is epsom salts occasionally cuz GG4 & a couple others show a mag def in veg . the rest just get straight V&B & V/H booster .

yeah the V&B has been a finicky PIA in veg right from the start ! either i'm going to use the roots coco or i'm going to use another base nute in veg . i'm getting tired of these little problems ! i need perfection ! lol

in flower , you can't beat this shit for quality & quantity !!! but veg is driving me fuckin nuts !!

Good stuff man I hope you get it figured out. Have you definitively narrowed down to a cal mag issue?

unless you want or like the taste of chem nutes , i would feed it plain water for the last week or 2 at least .

that .8 EC was a just what the dude told me to finish at when mixing the base at .4 & the PK booster at .4 & to use that on fresh rooted clones ready for transplant .
thats what i start off with on clones , the bigger plants i max out at 1.0 & that feeds pretty good sized plants with no defs .

whats up dans !

switched out of canna this past year and all my problems for the most part went away. I was seeing alot of bugs in there coco and couldnt get over a mysterious cal mag issue. I dont trust any companies anymore period, the canna wasnt testing good out the bag either low ph. I use botanicare now and no matter what coco i use I treat it with gognats azamax and sm-90 for bugs with 5ml CA/MG per gal rinse to get everything set in the medium. If im filling a 2 gal pot im rinsing it with 4 gal of CA/MG at 5ml/g so X2 the size of pot and the mediums always treating me right ever since.

Now if I could only get over my issue of random clogged drippers every week or two. any tips ? thinking of moving to the 3/4inch tubing and running a y filter ?

:tiphat:

hope that helps.

yes it does help D ! thank you :tiphat: I'm seriously thinking about switching to Roots Organics . would be water only in veg & i can keep using the V&B in flower . win win situation compared to whats going on in here right now !!!

grab an inline filter & put it between the rez & the first dripper , preferably closer to the rez . has helped me with clogs quite a bit . but i also clean my halos between runs with bleach .
also have been looking into these recently . they are just a catch tray basically with open lines feeding them , very little chance of a clog . a little pricey ..... but i think it would work pretty good .

http://midamericahydroponics.com/floraflex-floraclip-1-1-bag/

the clips are for the 1/4" lines so you can clip a line to the tray anywhere you want & as many as you want .

dans i also use the inline dripper filter, but also use a i gallon paint screen bag on my pumps, just throw a zip tie around cord and hose.

Fuck I got a bag on my pump now but I'll still get a dripper clogged once in a awhile. What kind of inline filter you guys using? And what size tubing? I'm thinking of saying fuck the drippers going open ended with 1/4" tubing. Shoot me a link of the roots organics Dan what I don't get is how you don't have to feed at all In veg and then in bloom you all of a sudden feed it like coco. Seems too good to be true  let us know how it works for ya but I'm using botanicare aeration right now and no complaints over here

the bags are 200 micron is memory serves me, and the inline filters are 155 microns, along with these http://www.homedepot.com/p/DIG-7-GPH-160-Degree-Spray-Stick-Assembly-with-24-in-of-1-8-in-Micro-Tubing-2-Pack-9802-2/204758540

my buddy has been using it . he feeds water only in veg for around a month , by then its pretty much deleted & needs food & thats when he puts the plants into flower & resumes normal feeding .it probably still has some nutrient value by the time they're ready for flower , but we both feed kinda light & have never seen any signs of over feeding .

I use 1/2" tubing & looks to be the same filter lyfespan is using .then i use 1/4" lines off the 1/2" going to the drippers .

: I'm seriously thinking about switching to Roots Organics .

i've been using tupur (2 per light- get it?) from royal gold, it's coco, aged forest materials, perlite and basalt. it's 10 bucks around here for a 2 cf ft bag. never rinsed or pre charged. it kicks ass no matter what you feed it. i use 5.5" pots run to waste fed 6-12 times a day during flower.
you might wanna check out a bag or two.
i used house and gardens before this.
canna before h&g.
1 bag gives me 19 5.5" pots, i use 16 per light, i can use the same bag it came in to empty each light to remove, less than $10. per light.

Good God. 346 pages. This has been almost painful.

Thank you everyone for contributing.

Dans? Could I ask a favor from you? perhaps edit one of your beginning post very early on with a summary of everything that has been covered?

lol that's a hefty request, personally i think that a full read of the thread is good for those with an honest interest in the product lines, seriously the failures and mistakes of others using the products will tell you as much good information as the success stories, in my opinion those mistakes are like a roadmap in a field of landmines, follow the success stories and avoid the mistakes others have made in this room and you're golden. you have ask the right person Dan knows his stuff awesome person! and his advice and thoughts are invaluable to me personally.
