look at hyundai, it's like one of the top in reliability lol.

kind of odd how the more you pay the less realiable it is.

My guess is that the more expensive cars like bmw,audi/ other luxury / sports cars are way more complex and I think most of the reliability issues probably aren't mechanical but electrical / all the luxury items failing

I was actually thinking of buying a 2007 hyundai accent hatchback because it's pretty cheap compared to other cars, suppose to be reliable and according to a lot of sources hyundais quality has gone up.

but the thing is the bmw or mercedes or audi even if they're lemons they hold their value but a hyundai etc doesn't.

Hell, as soon as you drive a car off the lot, half the value is gone.
I have noticed a lot of newer cars with burned out headlights. More so than older cars. Like, a year old car with a headlight burnt out. That is pretty bogus in my opinion. I would be pissed as shit if my brand new car had a burned out light.

true.

all this bmw talk is making me want to sell my porsche, cus it's pretty old and go for a newer bmw as they are reasonably priced but I'm not sure if it's going to be constant repairs and big money bucket......

like this, if I sold my porsche I could afford to get something like this, but not sure if I can maintain it. I fix a lot of stuff on my car myself (not to major, like timing belt /water pump) but my car is a 4cyl and not too crazy, a newer bmw will probably be much harder to work on with all the electronics etc.

I would want something as new as possible and not 318 lol, I would prefer a v8 but doesn't have to be lol.

A tip of advice, never buy a car that is new for that year. Like don't buy a 92 325i because it is a E36 and not a E30, while it would have been better to have a 91 E30 since a lot of the quarks are worked out.

^ that car I posted looks like a nice car for 12,000 cdn.

I want something with some guts, I don't think I'd like a 325 with the 2.5 l 6cyl

I think the 5 series looks nicer too. I think the car I posted has 4 l v8 540.

the 530 has a 3l v8 which sounds tiny, lol, looks like they attached two of the 318 4cyl m otors together.

oh I know, I was just posting pics of some of the cars I found, almost all of the bmws I see are autos, most people that buy cars, especially luxury cars (bmws are more luxury cars than sports cars) in the U.S and Canada get an auto so it's kind of hard to find a manual.

do they even make a manual for the 530 / 540? probably rare.

I don't really know anything about bmws lol, I just know vw / porsches.

my 944 is a manual and yes its way more fun but sometimes when you are super tired and you're driving in the rain on a hill in rush hour traffic....... it's nice to have an auto.

auto is still decent if you have a nice v8 and want more of a luxury car.

with a 4cyl or v6 always a manual.

You will be able to find a 530 or 525i in a 5spd without any problems

Only 5% of the 535i that came to north america were 5spds (aka you wont find one)

540s came in a 6spd manual, again hard to find and thet demand a premium, $$$$

if you want an e34 (89-95 5 series) I suggest buying a 525i 5spd. They are slightly sluggish but have the m50 which is still somewhat of a modern engine and is easy to work on.

If you want an automatic buy a 535i. They m30 engine is one of the best BMW built, and the auto tranny in the 535i is the only automatic BMW i would own

I kind of want a v8 that makes some decent horsepower like 250-300 hp...... lol

not sure how much those 4 l v8s make probably low 200 hp.

Then get yourself a muscle car....
The nicest, cleanest, most luxurious car I have ever been in was a 1957 Bel-Air with a 454. That was such a nice car. Had a bad ass sound system (like I care, the 454 makes all the music I want to hear) and all sorts of nifty gadgets the owner added in.

no no, what I meant by luxury is smooth ride comfy seats etc vs a sports car with bare seat and stiff suspension which I also obviously like. and I don't want a cadillac lol, a luxury bmw still has good handling and steerign vs a cadillac.

all bmws are really luxury sports coupes.

I don't want a muscle car because they all look ugly to me, interior is cheap looks like crap, styling sucks, handling sucks etc.

I like the porsche 928 with the 5.0 l 32 valve v8 330+ hp but I can't afford that. still has heated electric seats that are super comfy, everything in the interior is leather, including the dash and you can smoke a mustang/ camaro, most muscle cars and if you supercharge or tubocharge it you can get 500+ hp.

I have to chime in on the new bmw's... I love the late 90's m3's BUT the new bmw's are shit.

Mercades and bmw have so much technology garbage in their new cars that its like driving a fuckin computer. When im driving, i want to be in a car, not feeling like im at work on a computer.

Also... The worst thing to happen to mankind, SMG mazda has it, BMW has it. Its fucking stupid. Get the manual or get the automatic. Dont be a panty waist that wants an automatic where you can "control" the gears. Might have some potential for racing but that throws out double clutching (drag racing).

BTW my last couple sentences were kinda arrogant, how exactly do you double clutch, ive never actually done it.

Bingo......

BMW was also a major supplier of engines; supplying the the Luftwaffe with engines and vehicles, and the the Wehrmacht with motorcycles. Planes using the aero-engines included the BMW 801, one of the most powerful available. Over 30,000 were manufactured up to 1945. BMW also researched jet engines, producing the BMW 003, and rocket-based weapons. BMW has admitted to using between 25,000 and 30,000 slave labourers during this period, consisting of both prisoners of war and inmates of infamous concentration camps such as Dachau .

That's why I will never own a German-made car, nor knowingly own anything made by a company that got rich off the rise of Nazism.

I don't buy Ford or IBM for the same reason....
