Could you elaborate on this?

I think some sativas do fill up better with fluoros :chin: + you can get really tight internides even to 100 % sativaline when using fluoros to veg them. It´s because you can put them so close on plants without having to fear burndamages...

Samething with flowermode, not so much strecth when using fluoros at the first weeks/stretch out period :2cents:

I also do think that they can possibly produce even tighter buds than small hps. However.. Please keep in mind that not all sativas need intensive light and if given it they only produce foxtails and dont really fill up!

This is something that is very strain dependant and you will only get the best result with your favorite sativa, by experimenting different lighting.

Example: You can flower your sativa right under the hps bulb/right under fluoros approximately1.5-3 cm from plant tops (<-this only with fluoros;) and see what you get..

Then you can repeat the flowering with same strain, but dont place your plant right under the bulb and check which method is preferred by you favorite strain

Did this reply clarify waht I meant jrw? At least I hope so...

Anybody have any information on landrace ciltivars from S. Africa?
I recently was gifted (thanks again my nederlander friend!) about 25-30 beans collected from the Drakenberg region of S. Africa. Near lesotho, west of Durban.
I have not germinated them yet. The only description I got with them was "back to basics". Not sure what he meant by that. HAHA
Will be cracking them soon, and wondered if anyone knew anything of the LR cultivars of that region.
Cheers, and thanks.

Jahwi's Joy, landrace Sativa from the Eastern Region in Ghana.

9 weeks, 12/12 from seed, under 110W compact fluoros.

That's just stunning use of fluoros and training especially with a pure sativa  , keep us updated & can't wait to see the end result.

Actual sativa next to some Kuhmos.

The actual sativa is newly pregnant to the slightly underfed Kuhmo male located between the two females. It will be interesting to see how dominant Kuhmos early flowering properties are. The male as well as some females are all flowering at the age of 4-6 weeks. I'll probably finish them inside, they're gonna be too big for a stealthy transplant to the wilds.

The actual sativa is originally South African x Tibetan pure sativa but from my experiences grows very uniform.

I apologize for the cell phone quality of these pictures. This is the way it's gonna be

The lone survivor. This was the only bambata to survive my roommates cat :badday: And he turned out male. He too will make some half african babies with Kuhmo to face the chilly outdoors.

How long do you guys think she might have left?
Here's a pic where whe's 9 weeks. Just something to get an idea of flowering speed.

Not exactly under the African sun, but looking like weed nontheless :D

Yeah, it's gonna be a sativa summer! Too bad I'm out of town alot and my roommate isn't too keen on watering the plants, and her cat has a taste bud and young seedlings. I'm almost crying every time I come back and see my poor babies having been neglected. :fsu:

How are the Swazis coming along? The leaf structure kinda resembles my Kuhmos. I've been looking at pictures of various African strains in order to track down kuhmos mysterious ancestry. The leaves are kinda droopy with a long middle finger, quite the opposite to the mostly Namibian bambata pictured above.

Btw, where are the red hairs? :smoke:

Hola IC!!!

Ok, I think it´s time to gather all the info of African strains that we got / have info. Africa is special continent with interesting area´s & climates and there is long tradition of cannabis cultivation & smoking. Mainreason for this thread is that I would want to know more about strains that originates in Congo to Ivory Coast because I think that area is hiding the famed Black Magic African that I had honor to sample in mid 90´s. Many of the discussions I have got with my African friends from that area have revealed me that those countries / areas have very psychedelic strains. When I been smoking Power Plant with my friends and asked how the effects remind them of the weed they got in their homecountry, they have said that it has similar qualities like you stay active aso. but that the weed they got there is much more psychedelic and the high does last much longer.

There are so many interesting tribes who got different uses for our belowed herb and think about all the immigration that Africa has got. Different strains from different area´s of world combine with native African strains & African soil & sun = very special herb. I believe that there are lot´s of African strain to reveal that are cultivated by some tribe / little nation for spiritual purposes only, those are strains I am mostly after. So people, post all the myths & stories also you have heard and all the experiences you have got with African cannabis, so we may really succeed to get some useful information.

One important point in this discussion are the traditional curing techniques that are practised in Africa. I think that the special curing techniques are one of the reasons why African weed is so special & famed. So all the people who has info about these techniques, please share them with us!

Here are lot´s of folks in IC that know their African sativas and much more that would like to learn more about this mysterous continent, so please feel free to post.

Here is a nice pic from Bonecarver_OG presenting different Afican strains, the buds were growed by LaManoNegra:

love the comparison pic and thanks for startin a thread on the plethorical list of landraces the african continent has to offer :)
much respect out to you and all others passionate on cultivating, spreading, and preserving these purebred delicacies for posterity.
i despise the smilie below..really..i never use it..but i have no choice...
...you and the others with such passion here are 'deservant' for lack of a better word..hehehehe...keep up the good work, gang!

Oh thank you for your kind words ethereal, they really are appreciated! It´s very nice to see that people on these boards recognize your passion toward this belowed plant, really makes you feel good!!!

The pic you are talking about shows buds grown by our sativa master, senór LaManoNegra. I really havent updted that firstpost as I was planning to do when starting this thread, so bad me...

I think I have to start re-reading this thread and collect some photos & descriptions of various African genetics :chin:

I think this thread is positive place to come to learn, or share and good vibes are just flowing, jejejejejeje :woohoo:

Raco: Those look very dank nuggets!!! You got any info is this same Senegalese than LMN has?

Ras Pablo: Always pleasure when you share your fruits with us! Any plans to reproduce that Ethiopian?

LMN: Buenos dias senór maestro!!! There´s no words to describe your work, just huge :respect:

JRW: I think those Jahwi´s have quite same budstructure than the Swazi line im growing, keep us updated please!

Thule: Sativa summer indeed :D Would like to know more about Kuhmo´s heritage myself too.. Isnt there any info about it at Finnish forum? Reason I ask is because I dont visit that place anymore, just too many odd vibes there!

Here´s some Swazi shots I took for you guys today!

Swazi mum:

And a little family potret :D

The lower little nugs of the daughter received some Destroyer pollen today, really cannot wait growing the offspring

Here´s a some bonus pics, not an pure African, but pure sativa at least -> Original Haze x Malawi Gold:

Looking good Herbalistic, looks like those Swazis are fattening up nicely. Really like the look of that Haze x Malawi gold. I managed to get my hands on a bunch of pure Malawi gold seeds straight out of a nice fat cob, also got to smoke the bud they came from and it was the best Malawi I’ve had so I’m pretty stoked.

Have a look at this crazy Swazi. She’s a pain in the ass taking up soo much room with her long wispy buds running all over the place but I want to try an experiment with her. I plant to hit her with some of this fat boys pollen to try get the nodes closer and add a bit of density. She may be a decent yielder if I can get those really long buds to fatten up and put on some weight, we’ll have to see though…

Here’s a bit of a screw up, my Purple aids that I was so sure was a female is a male and had all this nice DP pollen stored for her. HAHA what an idiot! It’s no problem really, just pollinated my outdoor DP females with him.

Some fem DP x Skunk beggining to flower

Cheers

Nope, just that it's Kainuun matala, a dwarf type plant from Denmark x a mystery african sativa. The seeds I'm growing are from various generations over the years. The plants definately look like tropical sativas at this stage.

Those Swazis are a real treat to the eye! Real chunky for a sat.
