Early frost? You mean August?

Early frost? You mean August?

love the greenery, man! Now, don't you get early frost at that altitude?

:tiphat:Orfeas

Afternoon, Orfeas, thanks fer the props. if by early you mean anytime during the year, then yes;)
I exaggerate, but only a little.

I've never grown outside here, but people make it at least to the end of September, maybe mid October depending on microclimate and year. Lots of greenhouses around being put to good use:0)
According to a website dealing with this question, there's a 90% chance that I'll see frost by Sep 28. We may get a late summer that lasts into October, but most folks harvest end o' Sep, here.

That said, my indoor plants are frigging huge right now. I ain't worried about not getting enough bud;) It's day 1 flower for the Panama clones, a full 10 days after the big Tikal. Start of a 3 month ride. I'll take pics when lights come on tonight. :peacock:

Day 1 Panama, day 10 Tikal

Day 1 Panama, day 10 Tikal

Here's the tent. Panamas put on a 2x stretch. I just went in and cleaned things up a bit, but I've yet to organize their branches. Tikal is a massive bush, doing fine so far. Temps are still elevated for the first few hours of lights on, then they settle into the 70's until morning. Leaves of the Panama are funky due to that and some mite treatment.

Little OD pics, too. My favorite GT and Panama are both girls! My second favorite GT is a dude. They all need a good feeding. Just waiting on a Bangi girl and we're good to go:biggrin: then I'll thin the herd.

Tikal is my favorite smoke; no dullness, deep and spiritual. I didn't even notice how dull other smokes were until I tried this one.

Hi deepwaterdude,

I'm glad to know you rate Tikal among your favourites, i also think it's one of our best sativa hybrids, unfortunately it's not so popular like other ACE lines, maybe because it has been available only in regular format for the past years ... but we hope to solve this soon, we are at the moment working on a fem Tikal reproduction (first big fem reproduction of the strain in 8 years), hopefully the new fem stock will be ready for January 2017.

Best wishes for the outdoor season and new indoor cycle! :)

Outdoor pics sep22

Thanks, Dubi! things have been switched around again. Here're three OD girls.

the NepJam fem is about ready; I'll let it go another week. And the green Panama looks like it has 2 weeks to go, started flower July 20. (Edit: Aug 2 start of flower) It was a very sick plant, but recovered enough to make many nice, small buds. Almost killed her. The big red pistoled one could be Panama or NepJam, so I'm calling it big pink. Only by miracle will it survive outdoors until november...

Indoor girls need a flush to correct pH, but are doing very well, especially Bangi and Panama Red. I had timer issues for about a week before replacing them; power outages, too, and some human error. I hope they didn't freak out hormonally.

Panama in Deep Water/NepJam Harvest/On deck

Panama in Deep Water/NepJam Harvest/On deck

Bit o' nudes: first outdoor lady down, blumats, and Panama in DWC.

(Pic descriptions in title at bottom.)

1-I harvested the small NepJam fem yesterday eve at 9 wks. She was shooting male flowers for no good reason, just like her mom, so she had to go. I'll keep up with the strain, just retire this pheno. Definitely done, though.

2-Outdoor: Cold temps these nights, right down to 30-32f. Other day, first of the frost, I took Panama and NepJam in, leaving only the Big Pink OD. She was covered in ice the next morning and took it like a champ, so I've stopped worrying about her, just bringing in the green Panama around 9pm. Temps are warming again into the 40s at night, so another 2 weeks or so of outdoor time. Or as much as possible. Perfect days otherwise, great sun and 70s.

3- I ordered a 12 carrot setup of blumats yesterday, with a small res. I'm going to start with 2 carrots each in the three 5 gal plants in the tent, then 2 carrots each in the 6 plant grow to follow. I've got 4 more Panama and 3 Golden Tiger with excellent roots in the cloner. I'll keep you all up to date on the watering system. I SUCK at flowering plants, might as well take some guesswork out of it. I'll put 2 each of the GT and Panama in 3 gal, veg 'em for the 5-8 weeks until the tent is harvested then pop 'em in smaller than their mothers were to keep better headroom than this run.

4- Back to Deepwater: I cleaned couple of buckets and set up the best looking Panama clone in a very simple 5 gal recirculating DWC with drip @280ppm GH nutes and CalMag. Looked rough going in last night, and great this morning. I'm going to see if I can't flower one plant in DWC under the LED with some floro supplements. The Panama in the tent is very chunky and vigorous, great pheno, still has lemon cleaner smell of the green pheno that's OD, with some added spice, and denser buddage.

5- On deck for the 5 x 5 are the 2 each Golden Tiger and Panama clones from the mothers in the tent and I'll pop a couple of beans for 2 new strains for a total of 6-8 plants in 3 gal. I think I'll go with Caribe and Jarilla from Cannabiogen. (The following descriptions are cut and pasted from the website)

Caribe-A first class backcross (Jamaica x Jamaica/NL5/Haze) between an NL-5 Dutch champion, a pure Haze and an extraordinary and very stable Jamaican Lambsbread male from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. In this way an incredible Sativa climax and high yield is obtained, with improved adaption to growing indoors. 10-11 weeks indoor.

Jarilla-Local Cola Borrego from Sinaloa, fast flowering Mexican sativa full of aroma with a citrus taste and clean effect. 12-14wks indoor.

The sensation of going back to DWC in the 3 x 3 tent is very CLEAN, a whole lot less messy than soil and more controlled environment. All I have to do is check and adapt pH/nutes every day and I don't worry at all. Very fast to both make and correct mistakes, unlike soil. I boiled water to sterilize the growstone media, which have been previously used, sterilized all the tubing and connections, set up the airstones on the GH pump, noticing that the smaller blue airstones kick the larger version's ass, roil the water much more for some reason. I've got one each in the plant bucket, reservoir, cloner and compost tea bucket. When the clones are out of the cloner and in soil (+- 1wk), I'll throw that airstone in the plant bucket and double dissolved O2.

That's it for now!

DWD

Panama 2 and GT clones - repot + dwc

Panama 2 and GT clones - repot + dwc

Harvested lemon Panama clone @11wks, big pink has 3 to go, 3 in the tent have @1 mo left, depending, and as of today their clones are repotted in Slacker medium awaiting their turn in the big tent.

Some pics;

(Edit) Very happy to be doing this again, but forgot some basics - DWC tip - i had to change out the first clone I put in the dwc system after a week of no visible rooting; I had put the roots on top of the grow stones and then filled in the net pot, the error. With the new clone, I emptied the net pot completely, coiled its root system on the bottom and then filled in with growstones. Within a week we've got MUCH better growth, so much I can start dropping water levels a few inches, give more air to the danglers, stimulate root branching. Just changed out 6 gallons of water today, 450ppm nutes and cal mag, pH @ 5.6 to start.

Cloner mod - my cloning system puts neoprene inserts into little net baskets whose lips prevent them from falling into the cloner when inserted into the board. Putting an airstone in their water plus the aeroponic sprayers is developing huge root systems that get tangled and ultimately cut when removing them from the netpots. Solution seems to be to cut out the bottom of the net pots for full and easy root removal for repot. You can see it in the led tent picture; front left clone lost 40%healthy roots during removal, behind her, I had to cut the pot because the clone already had big roots when I put it into the cloner. Much less repot trauma getting it out.

Root bonanza;) Love dwc!

Root bonanza;) Love dwc!

Here're some pics to give an idea of root growth once these babies hit the water. That's the Panama clone from the big, dense budding female I have in the 5x5. I could flower her now, but I'll wait until her side branches are trained to the dwc lid. 1 wk.

Big tent is at 8 weeks flower Wednesday, and Bangi will be done in less than 2, so hopefully the three best clones in coco will pick up by then and be close to ready to flower.

Big pink'll come down this next weekend as colder nights coming. Hasn't had a new pistil in weeks, must take sample:biggrin:

Finally-indoor action; Panama, Bangi and GT at 8.5wks flo.

Finally-indoor action; Panama, Bangi and GT at 8.5wks flo.

Here's a gander; Finally got some pics of the girls in the big tent;) I mixed their soil really badly, haphazardly, and it caused all sorts of problems. The GT has really delicate buddage on branches that flop all over and need to be tied, buds're absolutely lathered in crystals; gorgeous. Parts of Bangi are very unhappy right next to the fan, but she has great bud structure, vigor and is super covered in crystals, too-smells garlicy-sweet. Panama-i get the feeling you could run this over a few times in your 4x4, plant the remnants in a garbage heap and she'd still produce without complaint; Thickest buds, biggest plant, very sugary, still producing lots of white hairs at 10weeks into 11/13, 8.5 flower. The clones in the 3x3 are from this Panama and GT.

Here're Pam and Bangi Haze, 8.5wks flo.

Here's GT 8.5wks flo in bad soil + Panama DWC

Here's GT 8.5wks flo in bad soil + Panama DWC

GT has suffered a lot in the badly prepped soil, but she's producing long, wispy colas of heavily crystaled, elongated and purpling buds.

3x3 tent- DWC is smooth as silk (even though my cats unplugged the drip a couple days back without my noticing. Plant didn't show it at all and did fine in the soup, so I may take off drip), 2 Pam clones and one GT are well rooted in the Slacker coco mix. Digging doing coco again, too, seeing them react for the first time;)

Bangi harvest not more than 10days out.

Theres some FAT bitches there my friend good times a coming.
Tangwena

Right on, Tang, good to see you still got your eye on my bitches;) That Pam IS fat and has a way to go, covered in resin already. reminds me of some after hours places in Colombia;)
This GT looks sick, not unwell though she may be, but like ripping jungle elixir, calyxes strung like purple beads on small peacock plumes upraised in warning...killer. When I brush one of its feathery branches, I know the perfume instantly, but beside a sugary sip of light lemon soda, there's a menthol or a darker spice, something more in memory than actually there, but that bites at its own description, mutes into a total intrigue. This babe as got it going ON. Her clone in coco is starting to take off, so hopefully I'll get a better expression.

3x3 update and harvest

3x3 update and harvest

Big pink in the basket after a quick trim and 5 days drying. Nice, heavy branches, with tops like corncobs.

A few jars of lemon green panama and caramel fem NepJam, and that's all the outdoor.

Bangi comes down Wednesday and the three next gen clones go in the big tent. They're starting out small, but they're in coco n their parents, Pam an GT are, huge. They'll produce, and they're growing inches a day.

Pam in DWC is doing so well i'm worried she'll outdo the light footprint. She's about 18" square now, before flower. I think the LED is causing a helluva lot more branching than I saw in their parents.

Bangi down, clones into 5x5, dwc to flower.

Bangi down, clones into 5x5, dwc to flower.

Thanks T, I know you've done much better than that little basket o' green spears;) They filled two gallon ziplocks.

Took the bangi down yesterday with a few white pistils left at 10.5 weeks flower. There's about 4 foot of her hanging. Very compact budding throughout the plant, even indoor, and I screwed up her soil good. Looks like she wasn't able to feed much on what was in it. Very happy with the plant nonetheless.

I moved the three coco clones into the 5x5 for a day of darkness before 11/13, so now big pam clone in dwc has the 3x3 tent to herself. Today first day 12/12.

I switched to floranova nutes for dwc and coco clones. Very simple.

Great job and great display of genetics deepwaterdude :)

Congrats on the outdoor Panama and Nepal Jam and indoor Bangi Haze harvest!
The big pink looks like a Panama too. The Golden Tiger has really outstanding resin production, how is she doing lately ?
Enjoy your harvest!

Looking great in there!

Hey Deep - get a screwdriver and pop those plastic covers off the screw in LEDs. You'll pick up about 50% more light out of them and they become directional as opposed to glowing like CFLs.

Thanks, terp, I'll do that right now:biggrin: I was wondering how you got yours like that. Your growspaces are awesome. I will probably be changing out her LED for 600w soon.

Dubi, thanks for looking in:thank you:. The GT was exactly the pheno I wanted; very thai in veg and uncountable purple, feathery buds on uncountable, willowy branches. i'll get a pic of her clone a few days into flower tonight. Very wispy. I think it's one of the very long flowering GTs you were trying to breed out for the faster/denser malawi types, but I'm very happy to have this one. Unique, mandarin spice smell, probably will yield huge grown well; I took her mom at only 13 weeks 11/13 and I have a drawerful of peacock plumed branches of very crystally, purple buds.

I think you'll like the Panama clone in DWC, getting huge:biggrin:very healthy and will stuff that 3x3 with buds, I'm sure. Mom was a beast.

Man you are getting these dialed in my friend, I have a Gt from 2015 release and as you say they are special. A work of art as far as the plant and the high are concerned.
If I only grew GT and Panama for the rest of my life I would be a very happy man.

Thanks, terp, I'll do that right now:biggrin: I was wondering how you got yours like that. Your growspaces are awesome. I will probably be changing out her LED for 600w soon.

Sure thing man, the covers are just siliconed into the housing. Some are a bit tougher to remove than others, but usually a flat blade screwdriver and some patience is all you need. Blynx's screw in thread will probably be of great interest to you (link).

Oh and the 600w probably won't be needed if you remove the covers. My screw in LEDs are brighter at the canopy than every 600w garden I've visited, roughly on par with most 1000w gardens according to the light meter - but with no heat.

Hmm... 1000w intensity in a 3x3? Me likey

Here are the 3x3 and the Pam and GT clones I kept. All are in their first 1-2 weeks flower. The Pam in DWC is turning into a tree under 600w ushio cooltube and the two clones 400w solistek MH run open.

I love doing two clones from the same mom in different mediums: the two pams are in 3 gal coco mix and dwc respectively. Same nutes, same ppm, as I just dip into the dwc res for the coco girls' water. The stems from each of the many stalks in dwc are as big as the mainstem in coco, with the coco producing denser flowers for the moment, probably due to smaller root system or amendments available in the mix. I also found that the smaller pam I culled that was in a fiber pot had healthier, shinier looking leaves than the one I kept, although she was the only one to show some Mg deficiency. The GT and Pam I kept are in 3gal black plastic pots and doing better, maybe retaining more moisture.

Some pics; there's a nanner on Pamcoco from situational stress. Not too worried and wouldn't mind a few feminized Pam seeds from this mom. I'm hoping to see denser bud structure from the GT this time around, with better nute availability and breathability in the coco.

Many Panamas

Puffing on some Big Pink, now a month in jars/bags, still mainly untrimmed and retaining a good bit of moisture. Dubi recently chimed in (thank you!) and says probably a Panama, so one of the better mistakes I've made in this life;) Very happy to have three hugely different Panamas to puff on and share.

The big pink mom has my favorite high of the previous run; very musical, nostalgic, strong and clear, even though she and her daughter have almost no bouquet, just earth and pot. She really has a great smell while smoking, however. She had the most fascinating bud structure and pistils to watch grow. Deeper than happy weed, not the first smoke of the day (usually, hehe) and my preferred for going out to play. I feel like my cheeks are reddening with drink, except it's more at the corners of my eyes... and 9AM... face soft, mind alert and floaty.

Also interesting, I now have three different examples of my first Green Panama; the real Lemon Zinger of the first run. She's my favorite for taste, stickiness and has a head twisting high. After smoking this one I always was pleasantly surprised to look at the ashtray and find half a joint still there, or 3/4... I still have all the tops from Mom, who was harvested in late July, so golden with the long cure. I have three big jars of her daughter, flowered outside and with even more amber than maw. Number 3 is the top cola to a clone I gave friends to flower outdoors, with much fatter flowers than I ever got. probably 1 1/2 zips of her. So Lemon Pop abounds at different frequencies; all strong, all the best smelling herb I've handled in a long time, if not ever. The outdoor is MUCH stickier than the indoor. When I break up a bud for a joint or to trim, I get a little ball of finger hash and no way in hell I'm getting that lemon off my hands for a bit. Not to smoke before going out unless in friendly territory, turned my eyelids into sticky red flaps:biggrin:, the cause to which there was no doubt.

Lastly, she who's being run right now in coco and dwc is a denser lemon with huge vigor and fat, Indica looking buds on finger-width stems. I got around 175g off of her still needing a trim and to lose a tiny bit of moisture. Great smoke, strong again with a lovely lemon bouquet, maybe with a bit of mint, a surprise taste that the others don't exhibit and that many of the haze hybrids in Amsterdam had. I hope to shame that last yield by double in dwc.

That's the news, gooday all dwd
