hey abby ...did you get any type of flash with your 60mm macro? I suggest a twinlight type of configuration ....ring lights flatten the subject and you can't adjust the configuration.....also Extension tubes can be bought for cheap ...and you can turn your other lenses into macro ...or give your macro lens > than a 1:1 ....

looking good ....can we see a 1:1 macro shot? ...

Flower Day 38

Flower Day 38

Howdy Folks!

Things have been a bit busy here at the Bud Shack this week, and I haven't had much time to post, but there have been a few developments to make note of. I'm quite excited as my T5 light has arrived, and this weekend I hope to have it setup in the new Veg area. Earlier I had an opportunity to rearrange the plants in the Flower room, moving the plants so that the distribution of light was reaching everyone. The Big Cindy's and Ice99 were moved to the back, while the Big Sours and Lifesaver x Sour Bubble were moved directly underneath the lights. This will be the last major move, as the colas are getting very heavy and the branches are beginning to sag with the weight.

The Sour Gum #1 is so top heavy, I had to restake her and cable wrap most of her branches. I find the plastic cable wraps indispensable, I use them to secure branches to the main stem, as well as the main stem to the stakes. Since the stakes are only 4' tall, I also use them to double the stakes to increase the height... some of my gals are over 7' tall! :yoinks: The buds are still packing on weight, and while the grow is relatively low odor, there is a sweet flowery fragrance hanging several feet from the flower room. Needless to say, I won't be having company over anytime soon. :pointlaug

But you folks are always welcome, and I see we've had some recent visitors:

m.steelers - Thanks - Glad you stopped by!

weeweeman - Thank you my friend, you were the spark that lit my fire... as Jim Morrison might say! And by the way, this is still just a hobby... I can't help it if I have the occasional obsessive compulsive tendency! :bat:

aTm - No, I did not purchase a new flash, my current one is the best I can get for this camera. Once I upgrade my camera, I'll go with the new i-TTL flash. I've been thinking of perhaps picking up a good pair of strobes, perhaps an Alien B. We'll see. I have no need for all the different macro gadgets, I can get as close as I need to with this lens.

So you want to see some macros? Well, earlier this evening I had a chance to go take some, so... here's my first real bud macros!

Day 40

Day 40

Greetz guineapig & immortal, glad you boys like the macros!

Today marks the 40th day of flower for Grow 7, and for most of the plants it is just weeks away from harvest. At this point most of the girls will now go on a diet, receiving just plain water as they begin to use up the remaining nutrients in the soil. The sativas will continue to be fed normally for another week before going on their flush diet.

Speaking of sativas, the Big Cindy's are really filling out their main tops nicely:

And the next generation of Big Cindy's will soon be here:

The Sour Bubble 1BX incross looks great:

As does the Monster Bubble:

Some frosty Big Sour:

and some lucious Blue Moon Rocks:

Tasty...

Grow 7 Day 43

Grow 7 Day 43

I see we've had some visitors the past few days!

Budgrinder - Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed your visit!

SmokeyPufmaster - And thank you sir as well. One of the things I tried very hard to accomplish this grow was to not overfeed, and I think got pretty darn close this time. Just a few have a very slight burn on a few leaf tips, and now that most are on plain water, it's all gravy now! :yummy:

ilcstoning - Some more tasty treats coming up!

defster - Here's a tissue, I'm going to need one as well... you all are so kind! :D

Tafari - I currently am using a Nikon D100 with SB80DX Speedlight.

Well folks, the girls are starting to color up nicely now, and are still packing on the trichomes. But like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words... so here's a short story!

Part II

I hope you all aren't getting tired of seeing Bud pics, now is prime time as the girls are maturing rapidly, and the colors are getting a bit more intense. I just can't resist taking the camera into the Flower Room, everytime I enter I see something new. Got quite a few pictures from tonight, it's hard to choose which ones to show anymore, I like them all!

Scenes from the Jungle

Greetings Friends!

Just a few quick notes tonight, and a whole bunch of pictures. :D The gals continue to color nicely, and are really starting to frost up. There is really not much smell, although there it is noticeable. I recently purchased some Cha Ching bloom enhancer, and gave them their first "feeding" with it. I have never used anything like this before, so I'll be interested in seeing if it really does increase resin production and fragrance as advertised. It does make the water mighty yellow, looks like liquid pee!

trichomefarmer - Thanks, with all the money I will save getting the D200 instead of the D2X I'll have enough to get one of those light kits myself!

dRbreiT0r - May as well keep it open... got a few more you might like tonight!

The Lifesaver x sour bubble you made looks awesome. I have some seeds just made from a Sour Bubble clone I placed some Lifesaver pollen on. Just a few to grow out for now but I will be looking forward to your reports on any using some of my genes. Thanks Abby. did you hear the new abbreviation ABB yet? Aging Baby boomers. LOL, that's me! :D

Size Matters...

I was looking through some of the photos from Grow 7 and I realized that there is nothing that really shows the true size of my gals. I had a chance tonight before lights out to snap a couple of quick pics. Here's a little Monster Bubble shot to give you an idea of where we are at on Day 49 of Flower. That's her on the far right of the picture above, and here's a size comparison with my hand:

I have 15 plants of this size, and as you might imagine I am dreading trimming these beasties. However, I do have helpers, and as you can see below, they are getting an early start on the trimming!

southernsmoker - Let me know how the Beastie Bloom works for you as well, it's going to be an interesting next two weeks for sure!

BushyOldGrower - Thanks Master BOG, the LS x SB is frosting up nicely, but the strange thing is she doesn't really look like her Mother or Father, it's a whole new look! Smells just like grape soda!

And by the way... your not alone. It's hell to get old. :D

You are gonna have to get a vacuum Abby. People wonder what the hell a vacuum or vacuum hose is in a pic of mine but it was always just for scale. Someone once asked if I might not be a midget or something from the size of my plants with me. :D That was it man. I got out the shop vac and made sure they knew I was nearly 6 ft tall because Size Matters! :sasmokin:

Glad you like my genetics sir. You really are a master. BOG

Great pics as always Abby. That LS x SB looks insane. My favorite picture from this bunch was that picture with the cat. (S)He looks just like my cat except mine has black moustache or whiskers or whatever you call them in english. I nominated the cat pic for the POTM competition.
