Very nice Abby. I hope i can find my way out of the jungle before the lions tigers and bears get me. I might have to drop the big sour I snatched as a decoy so i can get away. Good Luck.
Wellcome to da JuNgLe we have FuN 'n GaMeS> Nice shack Abby so which one of ur plants can u smell da most/most over powering when u step inside ur ShAcK.........
Hey immortal - As thick as the canopy is on the Big Sour... you could probably hide in it! Or you could always climb up one of the Big Cindy's (boy, are they aptly named)!
Greetings usawontstopme - That's a perfect theme song for this grow... Welcome to the Jungle indeed! At this point there isn't really any noticeable smells coming from the gals, other than the normal "plant room" odor. However, if you lightly rub the stems, you can smell different fragrances... my favorite is the Monster Bubble's sweet lemon-lime aroma.
The Jungle @ 19 Days Flower (Sour Gums)
Now that the Jungle is in flower, I will do my best to chronicle the changes as the plants mature. I'm anticipating the c99 crosses to finish earlier at around 52 days, the others around 60 days. Of course, they'll take as long as they take, and I will be harvesting based on trichome maturity, not by days in flower or outward appearances.
Speaking of outward appearances, here's a few pics of the Jungle buds on day 19 of flower:
Watch yer step, there ain't a whole lot of room left around here as the JUNGLE has taken over here at Abby's Bud Shack. Looks like the stretch is over... thank heavens! Quite frankly, the plants are taking over, and I am amazed at the daily changes taking place. Today makes exactly 3 weeks since the light change to 12/12, and earlier I noticed the first hint of sweet fragrance coming from the Lifesaver x Sour Bubble. There is no noticeable aroma from any of the others... yet! During tonights photo session, I also noticed the first hint of color coming from the buds, as well as the start of a little sugar coating. But enough of me talking about what's going on, let's let the pictures tell the story!
Monster Bubble (Jock Horror x Sour Bubble) @ 21 Days Flower
Abby I'm sorry. Page 25 and I'm just now getting in I hope I can have a seat. Very high props to the love your Lady's obviously show. I'm now gonna go back to page 1 and get ta reading up. Great plants Great Pics thank you for sharing.
Greetings Mr. Wags, come on in and make yourself at home, new visitors are always welcome here at The Bud Shack. Help yourself to the popcorn and stash, and enjoy your read!
Just a couple more pics from last night, I so love the baby sativa buds, like little cotton balls on a stick! Here's some more Big Cindy @ 21 days:
I just love taking pictures... as if you all didn't already know that. So, as you might expect with a few minutes of free time, I managed to sneak in and grab a few more new shots of the gals, now on day 22 of flower.
The canopy is really starting to fill in on the indica side, and today I moved the lsxsb from its center position directly under the light to a side position, and placed the bmr in the prime spot. That's the bmr in the middle of the picture above, its multiple colas starting to really fill in. I have found that topping the indicas is almost mandatory if you want to increase yield dramatically.
But another way to increase yield, no matter what the strain, starts at the bottom... not at the top. Big Roots = Big Buds! It's common sense, the more solid the foundation, the bigger the house can be. All of the ladies in the Bud Shack are housed in large 15" containers, and as you can see I prefer my ladies with their bush trimmed.
Keeping the bottoms nicely trimmed provides a dual benefit in that it increases the air flow as well as focuses the plant growth on the canopy, yet another way to increase yield. This should result in some massive buddage, and I can already tell we are going to experience some special buds with this grow. Here's a few... from day 22:
No time for bud pics tonight, but I did want to note that today when I opened the door to the Flower Room the sweet smell of flowering buds immediately greeted me. The most noticeable aroma was that of the Lifesaver x Sour Bubble cross, which, while hard to describe, can best be compared to as a type of young, sweet berry fragrance. The Monster Bubble is starting to become more noticeable, and is my favorite with its sweet lemon-line smell. No odor from the sativas yet, but most all of the indicas have started to give off a slight aroma. Today is day 23 of flower mode.
One of my personal passions is nature photography, and for today I thought I would share a little picture of a Greater Egret at dawn.
Hiya Abby, great photography. I see you use a D100 and was wondering if you have any advise for a fixed macro lens for a D50 I just bought. Was reading about the AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D, sigma 105 ? I have no clue which direction to go and don’t want to spend more on the lens than the body. Want to capture close up of insects, trics etc thanks much
Today the males were sacrificed to the Pollen God and their golden essence used to pollinate several females with the remainder saved for future use. I only pollinated three different gals this round, and only a few buds of each. These were the Big Cindy, Monster Bubble, and my Lifesaver x Sour Bubble cross. I haven't given the LSxSB a name yet, as I'm waiting for the end product before making a decision. Both the Big Cindy and LSxSB were bred with a male from their respective crosses, however I thought I would go and try something new and pollinated my favorite lemon-lime Monster Bubble with the male LSxSB. Should make for an interesting project!
A quick shout out to:
IckySticky - I'm sorry Icky, but I really don't do much in the way of macros. I use a Sigma 24-70 2.8 zoom lens for my bud shots, it's about a $400-500 lens. Best advice I can give you is to do a google and search for "nikon macro lens reviews". Should find much better info to help you than what I can provide!
Ras Sizzla - Glad you liked the pic Ras... but I also dabble in the artsy fartsy stuff. Here's a little piece I call "Dragonfly Dreams".
I got a first hand look at the Nikon 105mm, Sigma 105mm & Tamron 90mm macro offerings this morning after returning my coolpix L1, all around 700ish , Ordered the Tamron AF90MM F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 & speedlight 600, shit adds up fast, thanks anyway abby
All Aboard! The Abby Express tour of Bud Jungle is just about to leave. Please take a seat and help yourself to the refreshments, there's a lot to see on this trip!
Our journey begins through the infamous Bud Jungle, a strange and wonderous place filled with incredible sights and smells. It is now day 25 of flower in the jungle, and every day the landscape changes. The plants are starting to intensify their bud production, and most are now starting to emit some fragrance. I see we are almost at the first stop on our journey, please look out your windows as we pull into Sour Gum station.
The Sour Gum section is easily distinguished by the large multiple colas of dense, leafy buds. There are 3 females in this group, with only slight variations between them.
The buds are starting to fill out nicely, and as you can see there is a fair amount of leaf structure in the bud.
This should not be too much of a problem, as the main colas are starting to stretch...
...and fatten:
Feel free to stretch your legs for a bit, we'll be leaving for our next stop in just a few.
Hope you had a good stretch, it's time to take your seats for the next leg of our journey through Bud Jungle. Our next destination is Cindy City, home of the giant Big Cindy's and petite Ice99. Located smack in the middle of Bud Jungle is Cindy City, easily recognized by the towering skyscraper buds as they reach into the heaven's.... okay, the ceiling!
Both of the Big Cindy's are almost identical, tall and long stemmed, with large, fluffy buds. I could not be more pleased with this cross, despite the fact that it almost outgrew the Flower Room. Topping this plant would produce an incredible yield, and we'll definitely see that on another trip to the Jungle sometime in the not-too-distant future.
The Big Cindy's have a lot of the characteristics of their mom, and I was thrilled to find them starting to give off the same pineapple aroma of the mother c99.
The individual buds are starting to form together into very good sized colas, and again they take after the mom c99 in having very little leaf in the buds. The only difference between the two Big Cindy's is in the shape of the buds. Big Cindy #1 has just a slight hint of the Bubblegum x BC Big Bud father as you can see out your right window:
Off to the left we have Big Cindy #2 with its more fluffy c99 look, and definite sativa style. I really like the sativa type strains, and I personally think the c99 is one of the best yielders in its class. Combining the c99 and BG BC Big Bud has produced at least two offspring who seem to have inherited the best from both parents!
As we leave Cindy City we pass by the slim and stylish ice99 cross, a combination of Nirvana's Ice and Capricorn Seed Companies c99 F2. As you can see below, she is similar to her cousin Big Cindy in the sativa shape and style, however her buds are much smaller and her build much more slender. Both of the ice99 are identical in every aspect, and are over 6' tall.
Our journey continues as we head out to Indica Wilds, it's not too far away, so you have time to order a sandwich before we arrive.
We are now entering Indica Wilds, home to the bastard children of BOG. At the center of Indica Wilds we find the pureblood Blue Moon Rocks, and isn't she a beauty. She's justing coming up on the right side now:
She is a perfect example of increasing yield by topping in veg, and has a nice even canopy of large budsites.
The buds are typical indica with a fairly heavy leaf to calyx ratio at this early stage, and at this point their is no noticeable covering of trichs:
As we pass the BMR, you might be able to see the slightly frost tops of Monster Bubble Mountain. This cross of Nirvana's Jock Horror and BOG's Sour Bubble is already gathering a fair amount of trichs, and should take after it's father in bud shape and trichome count. Here's a good look just out the left window:
The build and body makeup is very much like the SB 1BX with a large, thick stem and very tight upward branching tops. The buds are formed close to the main stem, and it is a shame I was unable to top them before flower... then again, if I had they probably wouldn't have fit under the lights!
Our last stop in Indica Wilds before heading back to civilization is a quick stop to see the Big Sour. Created by crossing Bubblegum x BC Big Bud with Sour Bubble, these ladies have better branching and a fuller cola structure than the Sour Bubble, a wonderful benefit from the BGxBCBB. Here's a parting shot of the Big Sour as we head back to the Bud Shack.
Hope you enjoyed your travel on the Abby Express, don't forget to take any items you may have brought with you for the trip. Until next time...
abby man that was so enjoyable and well-planned out........you are the best tour guide in the whole world......you always have the best pictures- thank you for sharing them......
