Flower Day 52

Flower Day 52

Howdy Folks!

Grow 7 is now on day 52 of flower, the buds are still growing, and the leaves are beginning to lighten a bit. The trichomes are still a mix of cloudy and clear, with most cloudy, but no amber of any note. This should be the final week before harvest, and I anticipate starting next weekend, or what will be Flower Day 60. For the oldest plants, this will be a total of 120 days of life, 60 days in veg, 60 days in flower. Most of the plants are 5' in height, with several over 7'. The Big Cindy's are absolute monsters, towering over the other plants. Here's a closer look at the one in the corner:

There are so many incredible sights in the garden now, and I had a chance tonight to capture a few of the girls looking lovely in their shimmering coat of crystals.

And now for our recent visitors:

BushyOldGrower - Master BOG, you honor me sir with your kind words. However, I believe the vacuum and white legs are your trademarks, I will have to come up with something... :D

Salakavala - Thank you, the ls x sb is really frosting up now, and I see her still putting on some weight. Can't wait to see her in a week! That's Bootsie, my eldest cat, been my constant companion for over 12 years now. She's allowed to help herself to the bottom leaves, but I don't allow her in until the plants are of good size. And she thanks you for the nomination! :)

truecannabliss - Thank you, I'm glad folks like you are still enjoying the show! Once I get back from my business trip I'll make a posting as to when we can have our first get-together. Looking forward to it!

That's all folks!

Grow 7 Day 55

Grow 7 Day 55

Hey Gang!

We are definitely in "Prime Time" here at the Bud Shack as Grow 7 enters it's 55th day of Flowering. The girls are ripening nicely, and harvest is but mere days away now. The fragrance in the flower room is getting sweeter by the day, but it is not overpowering, for the most part this has been a very "low odor" grow. Today, they received their last feeding of the Cha Ching, from here on out it is plain water only!

I've got a bunch of pics to share tonight, and this will probably be the last chance I have to take any before harvest. I'll be attending a big trade show in Atlanta this week, so I won't be back until the weekend, and harvest day is set for this Sunday. Nothing like trimming buds and watching football!

By the way... it's not my birthday. While I appreciate the sentiments, I still have a couple of months of "youth" left! Before we get to the pics, a quick shout out to the visitors:

BushyOldGrower - Actually, I do enjoy smoking joints if I have someone to smoke with, but most of the time I smoke alone. So, I'm a pipe man at this time.... but I do prefer a bong. Of course, I don't own a bong anymore, but I'm working on that. I can't wait to smoke a joint with you in Yellowstone next year! :yummy:

guineapig - What you been smoking? :D Two months my friend... still a little ways to go!

sackoweed - Thanks for the kind words, I am so happy you are inspired. That's what it is all about, I started because I was inspired by my friend Weeweeman's pictures, and now I am inspiring others. Life comes full circle!

And now for tonights pics... Day 55 of flower mode.

OK Abby this is really getting juicy and I cant wait to see your harvest and smoke report on my strains. What do you think of sour bubble vs. BMR for instance. Really would be interested in any reclarification on the content of your current crosses as I dont recall whether sour gum gets its sour from me or rez. Your smoke report on BMR and sour bubble would be much appreciated. Have you tried growing my SB3 bx as yet? :D BOG

Nice thread dude. If threads were rated this one would be worthy of an award.

hilljack is correct, all of the "sour" crosses in my Grow #7 are derived from your Sour Bubble 1BX. I gave half of the seeds that you sent me to my Canadian friend Weeweeman, and he created the Sour Gum and Big Sour crosses. But just what are they... let me clarify.

BIG Sour

BIG Sour - A Sour Bubble 1BX male crossed with a Bubblegum x BC Big Bud virgin. Isn't love grand? I have two of these in the jungle, and both are fairly consistent in both size, shape, and bud structure. The buds are an orange color with dark green leaves, medium in size, with a good coating of trichs. Hard to describe the aroma, sort of a semi-sweet menthol with a hint of citrus.

Sour Gum

Sour Gum - The same Sour Bubble male was crossed with a Bubblegum female, my... he certainly got around didn't he? I have 3 of these in flower, and each one is different. Ah, well... you win some you lose some! However, 2 of the phenos I think are exceptional. One produces big fat colas with an extremely high calyx to leaf ratio. Resin production is not as high as most of the others, and no where near the number of trichomes found on the second phenotype.

Sour Gum

Pheno #2 is a snow cone, and I am so glad I used her in another little breeding expirement. The buds are rock solid and just crusted with trichomes, looking like the snow capped peaks of the Rockies. It's the type of bud you don't want to trim but maybe the very tip of the longest leaf, it is that covered with resin. I'm very impressed with this one, and she takes the cake for "icing"! :D The other pheno is very nice, but not anything I would consider special.

BMR

The rest of Grow 7 are all my crosses, with the exception of BOG's BMR, which is an original BOG creation from seed. I only had one female, but boy is she a beauty. Topped early and vegged long, she resembles a Medusa with long, thick, snake-like buds stretching out in all directions. A very impressive plant, she will yield huge. The resin coverage is well above average, with the buds appearing almost white from a distance when using a flash. However, when viewed closer, the buds are quite colorful, with some even having a purplish tinge. Again, another hard to describe aroma, more flowery than berry, with a tinge of menthol.

Monster Bubble

Monster Bubble - I used a select male Sour Bubble (that means I had a bunch to choose from ) with a sweet Jock Horror female. My goal was to try and increase yield in the Sour Bubble, but still retain the "Sour Bubble" distinctiveness. I have 3 of these in the jungle, with two seperate phenos. Two of the plants are very much like the original sour bubble, but with a larger main cola like the Jock Horror, but branching is unfortunately not that increased. However, if topped, this plant could be a real monster! Sour Bubble fragrance, with dark colored, almost purplish buds with a heavy covering of trichomes.

Monster Bubble

The other Monster Bubble looks totally different than either parent, although it retains the general Sour Bubble shape, but with better branching. The main cola is large, thick, and leafy, but has an above average resin count. This is a special girl, as she smells just like a lime, more sweet than sour. I have a feeling this is going to be some very fine smoke indeed!

Lifesaver x Sour Bubble

Another Sour Bubble cross I did was the Lifesaver x Sour Bubble, and while I only have one in the garden, she was used for breeding with another Lifesaver x Sour Bubble male. Smells like grape candy, buds are heavily coated with good branching and an orange coloration. Doesn't really look like either parent, but that's okay... she's mighty pretty in her own right.

Sour Bubble 1BX Incross

Remember when I said I had a lot of Sour Bubble males to choose from? Well that's because out of all the Sour Bubble seeds I grew, I only had one female. But it only takes one... and I used her to create an incross of the Sour Bubble 1BX. It's a Sour Bubble alright, basically a big stick with some choice little sour lemon buds stuck to it. But, like they say, good things sometimes come in small packages. :yummy:

The other two crosses in my garden have no "sour" ingredient. Instead, the common thread between them is a c99 "pineapple" pheno mom. Both of these crosses are sativa dominant, and are the tallest plants in the grow at over 6' in height.

Big Cindy

Big Cindy - A very special male Bubblegum x BC Big Bud was crossed with the c99 to create this tropical princess. Massive main cola with superb branching, both plants are very similar in appearance, although one has a thicker bud while the other retains the fiery "red headed" appearance of the c99 mom. Both retain the tropical pineapple fragrance of the c99.

Ice99

Ice99 - I used a clone of the c99 mom and mated it with an Ice male. The result is a tall and lanky plant with medium size buds. Both of the two I have in flower are identical, and are easily identifiable by their red hairs and loose, airy bud structure. Nothing really special about this cross, and I doubt I'll be pursuing it down the line like I will the Big Cindy.

Well, that's all the crosses currently in flower. Harvest is right around the corner, which is a good thing because I need to empty out the veg room so I can start the next show. Going into flower next will be the clones not chosen as mother plants, which will allow me to start my long anticipated showcase featuring a selection from several breeders here at ICMAG. I'm very pleased to announce that the Bud Shack will soon be hosting:

Wally Duck Seeds
c99 x blueberry
Pine Orange

That's right folks, straight from the Duck Down Under we have two of his recently released, special c99 crosses! Ya'll know what a big c99 fan I am, so I can't wait to see what these will do! Thank You Wally! :woohoo:

H3ad Seeds
G13 Diesel (G13 x ECSD v3)
Head's Deez (G13xNYCD x ECSD v3)

Courtesy of Mr. & Mrs. Gratefulh3ad, we have some wonderful sounding diesel crosses. I've never grown any of the diesel varieties, so I am quite interested to see what all of the buzz is about. Special thanks to the H3ads!

BOG Seeds
SB 3BX

Just arriving today was the last piece of the grow puzzle, a nice pack of SB 3BX courtesy of BOG. I'll be interested in seeing what improvements the third generation of BOG's favorite has over the 1BX. Just one more week to go! Thanks Master BOG! :woohoo:

I'll see you all again at harvest time... until then!

poor Ice99.....who could have predicted that you would have turned out so weird-looking?

well......rez did happen to say that Cindy99 was pushed to the limits of its genetics....maybe the cross with the Ice male brought out some undesirable traits....-gp out

Hey gp - The ice99 is a good cross, and not really weird looking for a sativa. The reason I'm not interested in her at this point is she is fairly low yielding for her size, and since most folks here are indoor growers I would rather concentrate on developing crosses that maximize space with yield. While the Big Cindy is a big plant, it's yield more than makes up for it's size. Of course, we have to wait until we smoke her, she could be ultra mind blowing killer fire weed... ya never know!

Marvelous... simply marvelous Abby. :D

You will find that the sour bubble has changed a lot and that those 1st bx sb's were just a bit too indicaish. The clone SB is what I have been working to emulate and although finding the exact pheno remains a task I feel that the project is getting close to fruition.

Your pics rock and that pic of my bmr is pretty darned nice. BOG
