Hi Abby,

I've been admiring your pictures for some time now. Actually this is my first post on here - hats off to you for having the best looking buds around. More importantly for me, I can see the finished product of a strain I might do myself, done and photographed bysomeone other than the original breeders. Thank you very much for this privilege.

One more thing, can I ask, are your methods bio or hydro? ( sorry if this is a repetitive question )

Abby grows in soil Amanda. He uses fox farms ocean forest mixed with a little miracle grow soil mix with added hydroton in the mix and on the bottom. He tends to not stop by quite as often as he would like to theses days.

Thanks for that Immortal, much appreciated.

I have no experience doing soil gardening but given Abby's results I would be keen to try. My hydro usually goes well but I still have to say Abby's live budshots are the best looking plants I have seen.....

Well Howdy Folks, thanks for dropping by. Things have indeed been a bit busy around the old Bud Shack, and there never seems to be enough time in the day anymore. What I need is a time tree, there has to be one somewhere. Perhaps it's a bush, but regardless, I know it's out there somewhere. I bet it's been hanging out with the money tree, hopefully I'll find them both and clone their little butts... or is that buds? Things that make you go hmmmmmmm....

Speaking of buds, did I mean to say things that make you go MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! How's that for some tasty BOG bud? The pic above is the "natural" Lifesaver, at 55 days of flower. As you can see, she has a very generous sprinkling of magical pixie dust, and smells like candy, so she should be a sweet addition to the collection. I have pollinated this LS with a male Sour Bubble, will be interesting to see those offspring! :yummy: Here's some more of the same plant:

As you can see she is a pretty girl with a nice dense bud structure, heavy in resin. Her lower branches are very heavy and dense, and hang almost to the floor. The other Lifesaver is a bit different in structure, due in part to the fact I topped her, but also appears to be a different pheno with a different bud structure. Similar, but definitely different. Here's a closeup so you can see what I mean:

This is the Lifesaver that took a heavy dose of love and didn't like it. I found the BOG girls did not like nutes any more or less than any other plant I have grown, well... actually I can tell you flat out they don't like a heavy feeding as evidenced by the curled leaf tips. She was directly under a 1000W fixed light, and got a bit crispy from the over-feeding, as did the smaller of the Super Sweet Cindy's. A few leaf tips and fan leaves, but nothing major. Just doesn't look as pretty as the other girls who were the control group. The buds on the topped Lifesaver are very dense and heavy, and the poor gal had to be cable tied together as she was literally falling apart. Very sweet candy smell from this one, even more so than from the "natural" one. This Lifesaver was pollinated with the Super Sweet Cindy male, and I can't wait to grow that cross. I know BOG thinks his Sour Bubble is his greatest achievement, but my experience with the Sour Bubble makes it my least favorite. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not what I had expected it to be. Low yielding, small buds, huge leaves and thick stemmed, that's my Sour Bubble description. Let me add to that insanely resinous, because she does have the trichs. Trichs stacked on trichs, trichs to the left of me, trichs to the right... perhaps I should make it into a song! :biglaugh:

There she is, one look at the picture above and you can see the very heavy leaf makeup of the buds. Fortunately the leaves are covered in resin, but still it's a leafy bud, a pretty leafy bud :yummy: Nah, BOG can make that his favorite, but in my book the Super Sweet Cindy is "DA BOMB". That's right kids listen up, forget the Sour Bubble hype and the Lifesaver propoganda you have been subjected to, it's all marketing. If you want the real scoop listen close... Super Sweet Cindy is da schiznit. Just take a look...

Oh baby, I get a hardon every time I'm around her. It was love at first sight, but we both knew it was a love that had no future, I was a man, she was a plant. So I gave her to a male of her own kind, and promised her I would care for her offspring as if they were my own children. Grow em and smoke em. That's they way to raise them kids. Grow em and smoke em!

As you can see from the photo above, she has a good sized main cola, it's about the size of a baseball in diameter. The smell is citrus, and is the most wonderful fragrance you can imagine. I LOVE IT! Here's one of her other buds:

Doesn't that look tasty? I can't wait to smoke this baby, and don't forget, I have one more. This next girl was bred with a Sour Bubble male, and if you look closely you can see some ripe seeds in the picture below:

This weekend is harvest day, and while I could let them go longer and pack on more weight, there is really no point. I don't grow to sell, I grow just to have fun and take pictures, and have nice little collection of personal smoke. It's almost insane for society to call that a criminal behavior, wouldn't you agree? And I also have the next batch ready for flower, we have some WR, Flo, Blue Moonshine, and SSH that are ready, and I do mean ready! Right behind them we have some Soma Lavendar, courtesy of sunnyside. So ya'll better come on back soon, we'll be having some harvest pics this weekend!

Shout out to Hooked-On-Grown, OHenry, immortal, JustSayGrow, and Amanda - thanks for stopping by the Shack. Glad you all are enjoying the show, I know I'm enjoying bringing it to ya! Yes, I do grow in soil and hand water from milk jugs filled with tap water that I leave uncovered for at least 24 hours. No PH testing, none of that is really necessary unless you live in a hard water area, which I don't. I use my own special mix of Fox Farm's Ocean Forest potting soil and Miracle Grow potting soil, with a little Jungle Grow thrown in. I find Jungle Grow too woody to use by itself. I reuse my soil, and have dispelled a lot of myths surrounding the issue. I use flouro tubes for seedlings and clones and CFL's after the first week. I have two 1000W switchables, one of which is mounted on a light rail. The entire Bog grow was flowered under the light rail. I like big plants, and quickly found I was running out of light even with the 1000W. The addition of the light rail changed all that, and I absolutely love it! I also use Fox Farms Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom with a little Superthrive and Monster Bloom for good measure.

Thanks for all the kind words... See ya after harvest!

Abby... you do those BOG buds proud. Your photography as always is stunning.

What sort of lighting setup do you use?

 hey maistre, Abby uses a 1000HPS on a light rail in flower. with the rail hes able to keep it closer to his plants. I hope he doesnt get mad at me for answering peoples questions for him. What the hell am I thinking. :canabis: :friends:

Well, it appears I now have my own publicist in immortal. No problem, I don't mind your pointing out things I have already written about in the thread. But for clarification, I do use flouros, cfls, HPS and MH lights. I have 2 1000W switchables one of which is on a rail, the other I switch between HPS and MH depending upon need. I use it as a final veg light just before the switch to flowering.

Well gang, it's harvest time at the Bud Shack, and today I am harvesting 3 of the 5 gals, the Sour Bubble, the topped Lifesaver, and the smaller Super Sweet Cindy. Taking a time out to rest my weary hands, but here's a little harvest pic of some Lifesaver buds...

Here's a little Lifesaver bud having some fun in the sun during the Harvest Day festivities, diamonds may be a girls best friend, but I'll take a sparkly bud anyday!

Gorgeous as always, Abby! Your plants are looking pretty green at harvest though. You might want to try feeding one less or giving a longer flush next run as a test. I think you'll be pleased with the results. They won't be as photogenic but I do believe they taste better.

Cheers!

I must admit this is breathtaking photography! Really makes cannabis look almost otherworldly. I wish you could come take some pictures around these parts come harvest time.

Greetings Friends,
A special HOWDY to immortal, Rolando Mota, and JustSayGrow - thanks for stopping by. I'm so happy you folks are still enjoying the show here at the Bud Shack, and one day I would like to take the show on the road and photograph this beautiful plant all over the globe! One day I will hit the lottery and make that happen, but until then I guess I'll just have to keep bringing you pictures of my little ones. Speaking of little ones, here is a pic of the Sour Bubble 1BX main cola at harvest.

The SB was really an interesting plant to grow. It was a very strong and healthy plant, with huge leaves and super thick stems. It grew straight and tall with very little side branching. The plant produced rather small, leafy, highly resinous buds, with a very slight smell, rather unpleasant at the start, but at harvest reminded me of a leather smell with a hint of sour lemon. Yield was much less than from the other BOG plants, and was disapointing considering the size of the plant and its infrastructure. Here's a shot of the Sour Bubble in all her glory:

Rolando Mota brought up an interesting remark in that he thought my plants were too green going into harvest. As you can see from the picture above, the SB was a beautiful green color, and very healthy, but does that mean she tastes bad, or to rephrase, would she taste better if she was not as green? I don't know... but I have a different opinion on this subject than most folks. I believe that the healthier a plant is, the better the finished product. To me, a bud is simply a fruit, not unlike a tomato or an orange. I firmly believe the more vibrant the plant, the better the fruit will be. Since I am an organic soil grower, I don't worry about chemical taste like the hydro folks, and since I grow big plants I don't carry them into the bathroom to "flush" them before harvest. Instead, my gals are put on a strict water diet about two weeks before the planned harvest, to help them use up as much stored nutrients as possible before the chop.

The picture above is of the Sour Bubble stripped of all major leaves, and looking very much like a big fluffy cat that just got soaking wet. This really illustrates the problem I have with the Sour Bubble 1BX that I grew... it's basically a small bud on a big stick. I can see the potential in the plant, and if topped, and fimmed, and trained, I believe it could be a better yielder... but it was the least favorite of the 3 BOG types that I grew. I'm not talking about quality of high, just quality of grow. If you look closely at the above picture of the "stripped" SB, you might notice two things, what appears to be a male flower as well as a purple coloration on several buds. I don't care about the male flower, I had pollinated this girl with a SB male for some F2's so she was already seeded. The purple coloration was a real treat, where I am it never gets very cold, so any color produced is due to a genetic trait and not to lower temps.

Stay tuned for more harvest pics... same plant time, same plant channel!
